"mommy what are those scars on your wrists?" our son Zen asked kazuichi innocently.

I looked at kazuichi worriedly. It's been years since he's attempted suicide but the scars are still there clear as day. I'm worried that our little boys words will end up upsetting kazuichi. I was about to say something when kazuichi flashed him a smile.

"these my dear are battle scars"

"battle scars" zen tilted his head in confusion.

"yes" he scooped him up in his arms "but people with scars like these aren't fighting in any normal battle. Their fighting a mind battle. A battle of self haterd and loneliness. It's a very difficult battle to go through"

"are you still going through that battle mommy?" Zen asked worriedly.

"no" kazuichi shook his head with a smile "my battle is over and now I'm living happily with the people I love the most"

"that's good" he nuzzled against his mother's chest.

I smiled at him. He's come so far from the darkness he was trapped in. I'm so proud of how far he's come.
