Out of the Box
Defeated
—/—/—/—/—/—/—/—
That box in the corner,
Oh, don't you recall?
Or have all the years,
Made the memory small?
Time is a blessing,
A curse in disguise;
Too easy to waste,
To fall far behind.
The mysteries contained,
Within those cardboard doors;
Are not what's hidden,
But how long they'll last for.
How long can they bloom?
Flowers with no sun;
Petals with no breeze,
Beauty comes undone.
When will I forget?
When will you destroy?
And who will be first?
To torch all the joy.
The blossoms of dreams,
Life tied with a bow;
My dreams and my life,
Far too well you know.
But pathetic it is,
You don't try to resist;
No, you like to gloat in,
Just how much I've missed.
Like a dog on a leash,
Always one step away;
That's where you hold me,
With the world at arm's length.
Cause as my hopes dim,
Your black heart still fumes;
And you seal tight that box,
So your reign may resume.
I search for the key,
Amidst cracks of my mind;
Never the right one,
In the thousands I find.
And so the box sits,
Restless, undisturbed;
Yet I relive the pain,
Like a wing-clipped bird.
It's gathering dust,
As my broken voice sings;
To your amusement,
Like a captive plaything.
All my desires,
Were long overpassed;
In the journey of time,
There's no going back.
Remember my wish?
To sign on those stars;
Now, thanks to you,
All I've left is a scar.
A murderer you are.
