My home is a prison,

Right here and right now;

Since the day you moved in,

And threw me right out.

I was so caught off guard,

By your well timed attack;

Too smart for your nature,

With your cold heart of black.

Still, you have a maker,

I pretend I don't know;

Deep in my subconscious,

You were built from what broke.

There's no room for two,

I won't go with no fight;

You hold all the power,

But my life's on the line.

This war is the pain

It rages inside;

Swords clash, and they burn,

Steal the sleep from my eyes.

How could I rest?

When you're leaning over;

Monster under my bed,

I'm locked in exposure.

You've learned all my secrets,

And laugh as you ruin me;

But it's no fun, no game,

Not as far as I see.

You take to survive,

Without me, you're nothing;

That's why I'm in your chains,

To keep me from running.

But you'll never be me,

And I'll never be you;

Monster? That's not me,

No matter what you do.

You try with all your might,

For me to set like the sun;

I struggle to hold on,

The stronger you become.

But you're born of my shards,

All the scars, all the hurt;

Lifetime of memories,

Now thrust on me in turn.

Outnumbered, immensely,

Outsized, overpowered;

Maybe not forever,

Though surely this hour.

I'm kicked from my castle,

To the dungeons below;

The dragon is roaring,

No hero coming though.

Never waited on one,

No damsel in distress;

Alone I'll slay monsters,

Still will not acquiesce.

We'll never coalesce.
