The day couldn't go by any slower. All Mattie could think about was Peter. 'He asked ME out!' 'He wants to be with ME!' She loved the thought of him wanting to spend the night with her and couldn't wait for him to take her out.
     They finally got out of work and Mattie rushed home to get ready. She was just finishing her make up when she heard a knock on the door.
     "Hello!" Peter said as Mattie opened the door. He was holding a flower out to her and she took it smiling.
     "Aw this is so sweet! Thank you Peter!"
     "Your welcome! And that's not all I think I picked a restaurant you'll really like." He said excitedly. Mattie had never seen him like this, she thought it was cute how Peter got so excited about being romantic.
     "Alright then we don't want to be late." Mattie said and they both walked out the door.

     The car ride there was nice. Mattie and Peter talked like they normally do and there wasn't any pressure on either of them. Sure they both wanted the night to go well, but they weren't worried that it wouldn't. When they got there Peter opened the door for Mattie to get out of the car and did the same for when they went in the restaurant.
     The place was fancy, but not over done. Peter and Mattie sat down at a table that Peter had reserved and started talking again.
     "Peter this place is so nice!"
     "Yeah I thought you'd like it, Micky actually suggested it to me. He thought I should check it out for you."
     "Well you and Micky had the right idea. I love it here!" Mattie said and the waiter came to take their order.
    They placed their order and Peter spoke as soon as the waiter left.
     "You know I've been wanting to take you out like this for a while."
     "I've been wanting to get closer to you since I met you." Mattie said smiling at Peters sudden shyness.
     "Really?"
     "Of course! Come on I'm not that good at hiding it you must've seen I talk to you more than the rest of the guys."
     "Well I thought that was because Micky, Mike, and Davy are always talking to the other girls."
     "No it's because when you're around I can't even see the other guys. You're the only one I can see and you're the only one I want to see." Matty said and the waiter came back with their food.
     Peter and Mattie ate and talked the rest of the night. Peter loosened up a little bit and started cracking jokes like usual and Mattie was mainly laughing and sometimes blushing when Peter threw in something romantic with all the jokes. 
     After finishing all their food and losing track of time by talking it was finally time to go home.

     "I had a really great time tonight." Mattie said walking up her front steps.
     "I did too, we should go out again sometime." Peter said with a little smirk.
     "I think we should." Mattie said matching Peter's grin and before she knew it she was in Peter's arms sharing their first kiss between each other. Mattie was shocked at first but soon caught on and moved her lips in sink with Peter's deepening the kiss.
     "Wow." Was all Pete could manage when they broke apart for air.
     "Yeah, wow." Mattie giggled before pecking Peter on the cheek and saying, "goodnight."
     "Goodnight." Peter said and Mattie stepped into her house closing the door behind her...
