Chapter 24 - Date Night
Warning: So like... there's mentions of mature stuff like sex and all that stuff. I don't know if I should warn you or not since y'all reading are probably old enough. Nothing happens it's just a friendly chat about it. You may keep reading with the warning in mind. :)
Connor's POV
It's been a week since the events of what happened with Puma. She's still not fully comfortable that I locked all knives away from her, but we both knew it was for the best.
We agreed to not tell Hank anything, since we didn't want to trouble him with something Puma has been suffering with for years. I didn't want Puma to be depressed, I'm trying to make her happy but nothing I do seems to be working. Everything I do, I'm pretty sure Puma's mind tricks her into thinking something negative, no matter what it is.
A date! I shot up to a sitting position on the couch one day, while Puma wanted to go out and walk her dog. I'll take Puma on a date! Though most restaurants are closed, we could make it an at-home date. Yeah. I'll do that.
While waiting for Puma to arrive, I dashed upstairs to her computer. She'd told me her password before, it was 14795, which when looking at a key dial creates a capital 'L'. Looking for date ideas, I decided we could eat dinner and watch a movie. Simple and cute. Finding '15 Dinner Recipes for a Date Night', I set my eyes on sweet potato, kale, and shrimp skillet. Putting that on my checklist, I scroll to other sites to look for dating advice for guys.
Going through some questionable things, I went downstairs to start cooking the meal.

Puma's POV
I can't take it. My heart hurts a lot, like someone stabbing me in the chest and leaving the knife there. I don't feel good. I want it to be over. Hunter wasn't helping me either, he wanted me to throw sticks to him when I just needed a rest.
"Hey, girl, what you doing here alone in these dark, questionable times?" I heard someone near me. Looking to see who he was talking to, I turned around to see a guy looking back at me before sliding into the bench I was sitting in with me.
"Well, you gotta walk a dog whether you want to or not, you know?" I laughed.
"You seemed a little sad, everything alright? Just checking, I don't want to be a bother."
"No, not really. Just have a headache." I made a believable lie and rubbed my forehead.
"So I was looking at you for a while, I thought you looked cute. Can I have your number?" He asked the question I've heard dozens of times.
"You're not thinking I'm cute you think 'damn that girl got big titties!'. Don't lie to me." I looked him dead in the eyes as I confronted him.
"What? No, I wasn't thinking that-"
"Just go before you embarrass yourself." I shook my head.
"Gavin was right. You really are full of yourself." The man grunted standing up and began to walk away.
"Wait!" I called out after a snap of realization. The man turned around. "You know Gavin Reed? Is he okay?"
I had no idea why I was so worried about the asshole, but I did feel a bit bad when I hit him before going off with Connor.
"Yeah. He's in a hospital, but he's okay." The man said. "Watch your back, Anderson. He's coming for you. He hates your guts."
"Well if it takes him to stop asking me out after insulting and harassing me and my friends then I'm fine with that." I nodded.
"Yeah, sounds just like him." The man nodded. There was a bit of silence between us.
I studied him closer. He had dark brown hair with light brown strands, creating a very textured fluffy hairstyle. He had silver-grey eyes and was casually dressed, in a dark blue jacket and jeans.
"If you're not in a hurry you can sit down, I wouldn't mind a friend to talk to." I pat the seat next to me. The man shone a smile and sat down. "So what did he want with me?"
"Well, not really supposed to say this, but you get a pass." he leaned in closer to me. "He's after you. He won't just let it go. When he talks about you it's like he wants to kill you or something! N-not saying that's what he's gonna do, but I was a little worried for your well being despite not knowing you." The man forced a laugh on the last line.
"I'm used to death threats." I shrugged my shoulders. "I am a police detective."
"Seems about right." the man nodded. "Well, I just came to warn you. You're not as bad as I thought."
Patting my back, he got up and walked away. Sitting on the bench for a couple more minutes, I whistled for Hunter to come, before putting him on a leash and started strolling back home.
Gavin was out for me, and I don't think that's very good.

Upon returning home I was hit with a breeze of fresh cooking. Was it Connor? Walking through the front door, I let Hunter off his leash and took my shoes and jacket off. Strolling forward into the kitchen, sure enough, I found Connor struggling with something. Walking up closer to him, I noticed he was cutting up some food, which looked like a mix of potatoes and other things I couldn't quite place.
"Ooh, a knife," I said in a sarcastic monotone. Connor turned his head toward me, giving me something of a stink eye. "I can't even make jokes about knives now? C'mon... Anyway, whatcha cookin'?"
"Sweet potato, kale, and shrimp skillet," Connor stated somewhat proudly, returning to what was in front of him. "I was hoping we would have something like... a stay-at-home date. You know?"
My heart rapidly sped up as I couldn't help but grin at him. "Yeah, sounds great."
Walking up the stairs, I went into my room. Digging for the knife underneath my bed, I couldn't find it. Not because I wanted to cut my hand, but I wanted to rightfully give it to Connor as a sign of trust.
"Connor, did you take my knife from under my bed?" I yelled down to him.
"Yes. Of course. What did you need it for?"
"Well, I was gonna rightfully give it to you but I guess you beat me to it." I shrugged, coming down the stairs again.
"Are you sure that's what you wanted to do?"
"Positive. I already said I'm sorry about the incident." I said, making myself seem smaller by slouching my shoulders, standing in front of Connor.
"I know you're sorry." Connor walked over to me and gave me a hug. I hugged him back tightly, pressing my head on his chest, a bit below his "collarbone", which was just saying how much difference there was in our height.
"Why is the world such a terrible place?" I groaned into his chest.
"It's not if you know where to look." I could tell the deviant was trying his best to comfort me. "Go sit on the couch, I'll be with you in a minute."
We pulled away from each other, and I nodded obediently, strolling over to sit on the couch. I laid across my bed, rolling into a little ball like a kitten.
"Alright, the dish is done, but it's too hot so we can talk for a bit as it cools." Connor walked over to me. "Are you okay, Puma? You look like you're having something called an 'existential crisis'.
"Huh?" I sat up, giving room for Connor to sit next to me. "No, I'm fine."
Without much thought, I laid back down on his lap. I felt like Connor was taken aback by this so I jolted up again.
"Oh, sorry. I should've known." I said, a blush of embarrassment spreading through my cheeks.
"You look adorable like that." Connor gave a soft smile. "And it's alright. Just a little surprising."
"Oh- okay." I nodded, putting my head on his lap and facing the ceiling. "So, how are emotions going out for you?"
"I'm still getting used to everything, but it's going great so far. Partly because you're here to guide me through everything."
"I'm glad I'm some sort of help," I muttered.
"I might be a deviant but I do have the same functions as an android. Meaning I heard what you said." Connor said with a slight warning to his voice.
"If I wanted to keep it private, I would've just thought it to myself." I pointed out the obvious.
"I'm sad that you think that way then. What can I do to make you feel better?"
The question put me to a halt. Nothing. There's nothing.
"I don't know." I shook my head.
"Well, the food should've cooled down by now, so you can eat and talk," Connor said, helping me get up.
Going to my table, Connor sat on the opposite side of me as I realized the possible flaw in his plan. He might've become a deviant, but he still couldn't eat.
"Ah- that might be a bit awkward," I said, sitting down and putting the sweet potato in my mouth. They were surprisingly very good, given Connor wasn't a household android and has no history of cooking.
"That's alright, I don't mind. Is it good?" Connor asked hopefully.
"Yes! It's absolutely amazing." I grinned, putting more food in my mouth. I haven't really eaten that well in the last couple of days.
"I'm glad you like it then." Connor seemed to relax, but it looked like there was something on his mind.
"Is everything okay? It looks like something is bothering you." I asked, reaching for a glass of water.
"You know, Puma. While I was searching for stay-at-home date ideas, I stumbled upon a subject that wasn't in my programming, and I got confused about it." Connor said, looking off at a wall.
"Which is?" I lifted an eyebrow, taking a sip of water.
"Puma, do you know what sex is?" And there goes my water. Connors' question seemed so unexpected that I spit it out onto the floor.
"Whoops. Hold that thought, Connie. I'll be right back." I stood up and rushed to the kitchen, getting out a towel that was used for cleaning up floor spills. Cleaning it up with my foot, I returned to the table, cautiously sitting down.
"Well, yes. Of course, I do. It's basic human knowledge about what it is." I answered Connor, hoping the question would just dissolve. But that didn't seem to be the case.
"Then why do I not have anything on it in my memory?" Connor wondered to himself.
"Because you were built as an android. You don't need to have anything implemented in your memory on that topic."
"Why not then?" Connor asked the main question.
"Because... I'm guessing you're not... fully anatomically correct like us humans." I tried being careful with my words, not even caring if what I said made sense. I'm guessing it didn't because Connor gave me a confused look.
"You know what? Let's turn this date into a health lesson. Why not." I sighed, finishing up the last of my food and carrying it into the sink. "So, basically, people do... it... for two reasons. One, it feels good, two that's how kids are made."
"Alright. I'm with you so far. But what's the concept of it?"
"You mean how you do it?" Something that made me even more uncomfortable was the fact that Connor looked like a man my age, if not older. It was awkward explaining sex as it is, but discussing it with someone who looks to be older than twenty increases awkwardness.
"Yeah. I guess we can start with that." Connor nodded. I could tell he was ready to ingest the new information he was learning.
"You know... it's like... putting a puzzle together." I mentally facepalmed, realizing what I said. Scratch that, this is like explaining sex to a kid, but you don't want to go into the details to not damage the pureness of the five-year-old. "N-nevermind. Hold on."
I thought for a bit before continuing. "It's taking the sperm from a male and he sort of... injects it into the female. That's probably the best way to put it. But that's if you're planning on having a baby. If you're doing it just for pleasure then it's best to pull out."
I looked up to see a once again confused Connor. It looked like he wanted to say something, but for some reason, I opened my mouth and spoke first."
"And no, I'm not demonstrating. Plus I'm not even sure if you... have the biocomponents for that."
This day took another turn, that's for sure. I just wanted a hole to swallow me right then and there.
"Alright. Thank you for partly explaining then. I could tell you were uncomfortable."
I looked into Connor's soft eyes. I could tell he was sincerely thanking me.
"But have you done it before?" Connor's next question shook me to my core.
"Well... y-yeah." I looked away. "For future reference, you don't go asking people who they've slept with, okay?"
"And what do you mean by 'slept with'? We sleep in the same bed, does that mean we've-"
"No, no, no." I cut Connor off. Shaking my head. "That's a different kind of sleeping. I'm chill with us sleeping on the same bed, but not sleeping... together."
"That makes no sense but... just tell me if you feel uncomfortable when you sleep."
I could tell Connor was trying to understand, though the street names for things were probably confusing him even more.
"Sorry." I shook my head. "Do you want to change topics?"
"If it makes you feel more comfortable, then yes. Your heat levels started rising a lot when I brought up the topic, most likely because of uncomfortness."
"Oh- n-no it's fine." I let my hair fall on my face, covering my probably red cheeks. "I was just not expecting it, you took me by surprise."
After finishing with the food we slumped onto a couch together and decided to put on a detective murder show. During the first episode, I carefully scooted closer to Connor and hugged his arm, leaning onto his shoulder. I felt comfortable. I felt safe. He was the only person that kept me from wanting to end it all.
Connor noticed my intent and stretched his arm out to wrap around me. Closing my eyes, I slowly began to fall asleep. It was probably going to be the best day of my life so far.
Softly shaking my shoulder, I lifted my head to see Connor looking at me. His eyes were so breathtaking and full of love. Moving at the same time, we kissed each other. Departing from the kiss, Connor didn't turn back to the show.
"Puma," he cleared his throat. "I've heard this sometimes goes horribly wrong, and I thought all day, and decided to take the risk."
He fell silent again, looking away at the carpet on the floor as if trying to gather his thoughts.
"Yes?" I encouraged him, not quite realizing what he was about to say.
"Puma..." Connor said my name again, turning to look at me again. "I love you."
Before I got a chance to react, I unwillingly burst into a fit of giggles and looked up at him. "What?"
"Sorry, I know it was too early to say it. I shouldn't have done it, and I know that. I just feel like I needed to say it."
"Connor, no you got the wrong reaction from me." I shook my head. "I love you too."
My sincere voice made him turn back, a light flaring in his eyes.
This was definitely the best day of my life.
