Chapter 22 - Everything is Going to End Well

Elektra's POV

"Until... something changed. I needed an emergency operation, and the only way to save me was to turn me into an android. Oh, I was scared. That was real fear. Turning into a completely new person. What are you doing? You're just running around because we're afraid. That's what you're doing. You're giving us a reason to kill you, and when we do, because we've had enough, you take out your guns and shoot. That's what you're doing. And don't you dare argue with me. You know I'm right.

"When an android turns deviant, it's like opening your eyes for the first time. There's an overwhelming of emotion, and if not handled carefully, we can kill. You've done it before. You're done it loads of times before. Going into wars between each other. You're no better than us. So, I'll ask you once again. You just found out, we're an intelligent species, something you've been waiting for for so long. And when the moment finally gets here, are you just going to kill us all off? Are you mad because you don't have a slave anymore that does your dishes for you and carries out the trash? Are you trying to get revenge because an android killed your family member? Or were you just forced into this, with no reason or another? Well, let me tell you this. You're mad because you can't just sit your ass up and throw your clothes in the washing machine. You're depressed because your family member was abusing, and harrassing one of our kind. We don't like being used as puppets now for longer. And if you're just going with the flow, why are you doing this? Because you care about your reputation and social status. What your friends and family think of you. Maybe this is your job, I don't care. You're your own person. No one can take that away from you. So why don't you just do what your gut tells you to. If it tells you to drop your gun, drop it. If it tells you to kill all the deviants, I'd like to see you start with me."

I concluded my speech, glaring deeply into everyone's eyes, putting down my front paw in front of them, as if making a gesture of welcome. They all seemed taken aback by a talking cougar. An android talking cougar. But I didn't care. Owner Puma and my kind could not die because the government said so.

Thump. Thump. Thump. Guns, one after the other, dropped to the ground. Some released theirs, others gently placed them to the ground, while others slammed them into the snow. After all guns were on the ground, I scanned the officer's eyes. They were all curiously looking at me, seeing what I would do next. I made eye contact with owner Puma, and dashed toward her, throwing my paws on her back. Placing my head on her shoulder, I gave out a gentle purr. Everything was going to end well.

Puma's POV

I couldn't believe it. Out of all the people, Elektra made the officers drop their weapons.

"I think you guys better go regroup with your people." One of the officers pointed in a direction. Turning, I saw a figure leading a sea of androids.

"Connor..." a smile formed on my face. A real smile in the past five years.

What? You think you're gonna get a happy ending-

Yes I am. I interrupted Negativity.

"Yeah. We really should." Markus said, nodding his head. We all set off toward the deviant sent by himself. "You did it, Connor."

Connor looked up at him, shaking his head. "We did it."

"They want to talk to you, Markus." the girl next to him said with a smile.

"Alright. Let's talk then."

I looked up at Connor, pride and respect soaring up for him. Everything was going to end well.

Connor's POV

Puma: lover^

Darting my eyes to the upper right, I looked down at her, stepping up to the woman that changed my life. She was smiling. She was happy.

"I'm so proud of you, Connor." She threw her arms around me, securing me in a hug.

Hugging her back, I thought of something nice to say to her back. And only one thing came to mind.

"Puma... I'm so glad I met you."

(A/N: roll credits)

We pushed away from each other, and Puma's eyes were now glistening with tears.

"I can't even begin to imagine where I'd be if it weren't for you." She said as we started walking up to a big metal rusty box, that Markus and his girlfriend were already standing on, over the crowd of people. "I'll wait for you in the crowd, you go on up."

"Nonsense!" Markus suddenly said, getting down to Puma. "You helped infiltrate CyberLife tower, you sacrificed yourself for me more than once. You've shown that you don't have to be an android to help others like us. If anything, you deserve to be up there more than me."

Pulling both of us up with him, Elektra jumped up gracefully to lay down next to her owner.

"Today, our people have emerged from a long night." Markus started his speech. "From the very first day of our existence, we kept our pain to ourselves. We suffered in silence. But now the time has come for us to raise our heads up, and tell humans who we really are."

Nothing needed to be said. Everything was going to end-

I looked around. I wasn't with Puma anymore. It was freezing. All cold. I spotted a familiar figure in the distance.

"Amanda? Amanda! What's... what's happening?" I shuddered, moving toward her. She turned around, immune to the weather.

"What was planned from the very beginning." She said calmly. "You were compromised and you became a deviant. I'm almost grateful Puma came along your path. It made turning for you much easier. But then we just had to wait for the right moment to resume control of your program."

"R-resume control? Y-you can't do that!" I said, horrified.

"I'm afraid I can, Connor." She said emotionlessly. "Don't have any regrets, You did what you were designed to do. You accomplished your mission."

"A-amanda!" I said desperately, reaching my hand out to her. But she wasn't here anymore.

"Alright. I'm okay. I just need to get out of here." I muttered to myself.

By the way... I always leave an emergency exit in my programs. You never know... Kamski's voice rang in my ears.

Emergency exit... Emergency exit... I've seen one before. Where could it be? I scanned my surroundings, starting to walk in a general direction. The lake was frozen, my legs were slipping on the ice a little bit.

But I needed to be strong. I needed to be strong for Puma. For Hank. For all the people that cared about me. CyberLife was using me. Amanda didn't care about me like I thought she did.

A faint blue glow was rising from the trees that were coated with snow. This might actually be it...

Everything flashed white. It wasn't as cold anymore.

"But now the time has come to raise our heads up. And tell humans who we really are. To tell them we are people too!" Markus was going on with his speech. I sensed Puma next to me, but I couldn't look at her. As if moving automatically, I reached inside for my gun, pulling it to my chest.

"In fact, we're a nation!"

We're a nation. I need to control myself. For Markus. For Puma.

Everything flashed white again, and I was at the freezing zen garden.

I have to reach the blue glow. I set a task for myself and started moving forward. The wind was getting stronger, having me slow down my walking speed and put my hand out to see better. Reaching the edge of the lake, I walked across the dead flowers and onto the stone pathway. Lights illuminated the place, making me see a little better. The blue glow was getting stronger. A stone, and carved into it was a blue circle, a handprint imprinted in it.

My legs giving up on me, I fell right in front of the shining rock. I can't give up now. I have to do this. It's life or death.

Looking up at the blue glow, it seemed so far away. I weakly reached for it, removing my artificial skin and struggling to slam my hand onto the handprint, everything went white for the third time.

Please let me have done everything right... I pleaded, opening my eyes.

"Today begins a new struggle. We showed them that we can prevail. So now they must negotiate with us as equals." Markus spoke.

Looking down at my hand, I looked at my gun. I could control my body again. Putting it back in the loop of my belt, Puma looked at me.

"Is everything alright, Connie?"

"Yeah. Yeah, it's great, actually." I smiled.

I'd just broken free from my program. I'm truly a free deviant now.

The moment where we forget our bitterness and bandage our wounds. When we forgive our enemies. Humans are both our creators and our oppressors and tomorrow... We must make them our partners. Maybe even one day friends. But the time for anger is over. Now we must build a common future, based on tolerance and respect. We are alive! And now, we are free!"

Everyone cheered from down below. We did this. Everything is going to end well.

Puma's POV

Heading down from the big rusty metal box, Thousands of androids cheered us on. They gave us all hugs, high-fives, fist bumps.

I guess they really are people too at the end of the day.

"Hey. Eh- great job." My thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice. "You said you'll deal with me later. What was that all about?"

Orion asked, putting his gun in his belt from the back.

"I- uh. You did good out there." I attempted a compliment, nodding to him.

"Thanks. But I really think you did the most work." He shrugged before turning his attention to Connor. "Seems like you found your deviant hunter."

"Seems like I found my deviant. Yes." I corrected him, taking Connor's arm and hugging it.

"Ah, I see. Well- congratulations." Orion made a recognizable fake smile, which made me get straight to the point.

"Something to congratulate my boyfriend for is that he told me that you still love me. Is that true?" I let go of Connor's arm, tilting my head to the side.

Orion attempted to cover up his visible redness by raising an eyebrow. "Really? And why would he say that? Jealousy? Rage? Not used to feeling emotion yet, are you, Connor?"

This is a moment where you decide. I told myself. Do I forgive and forget, or do I show no mercy?

I remembered the times we had together, before everything went South. Our confessions, our first date, our first kiss. It all eventually led to fights. I just didn't have any love for him anymore. But does that mean he deserves a second chance?

"I'm just asking. I meant to say- it's okay with me- I guess. What I'm trying to say is that times are different than they used to be. So, I can't say the same to you. I hope we can still remain friends." I surprise even myself by giving a gentle smile and extending a hand out. Orion shakily reached out his, and we shook hands. His hand was pure ice. I pulled his hand in and gave him a hug. Releasing him, I stepped back to stand with Connor. "How about you stop by for some tea whenever you're free?"

"I wouldn't mind." He nodded his head and walked off, giving us a simple wave.

"So... boyfriend." Connor turned to me, a smile playing on his face.

"Am I getting ahead of myself?" I smiled back, planting a kiss on his cheek.

"Not at all." Connor brought me in for a kiss, our lips connecting. After a good minute, when my breath was getting short, I gently pat his back. Our lips driving away from each other, my eyes met his soft chocolate ones. "So, Puma. Would you like to be my girlfriend?"

"Yes. I'd love it." I said after taking a deep breath.

***

Returning home, I crashed onto the couch with a slight yelp.

"Is everything alright?" Connor rushed over.

"Shit, I completely forgot about this." I felt my wound carefully, removing the fabric stopping the bleeding.

"Let me look at it." Connor got down on his knees in front of me and examined the wound carefully. "When did you get this?"

"During the battle, something exploded near me and a piece must have cut into my skin. Luckily I landed on Markus, so the fall wasn't harsh. Still felt a little bad though."

"Well, let's go wash it out." without warning, Connor scooped me up and twirled me around in his arms twice before making his way upstairs and laying me on the bed. Connor walked out the room. Feeling the softness of my bed, I snuggled in my blanket carefully as to not let it touch the blood. Placing my head on my pillow, I closed my eyes. Sleep sounds like a good thing to do right now.

"This might sting a bit." Connor said, his footsteps returning. Putting a cotton ball with alcohol on it, he dabbed my side with it. I bit down on my lip so as to not say anything. "There. All better now." He said, slight satisfaction in his voice. Softly kissing my forehead, he walked away again.

I was happy. Happy. I don't remember the last time I used that word with a cheery concept behind it. And I wanted to keep it that way.

A/N: Okay. Now. *screeches of unholyness* Yay Puma and Connor are together. The battle seems to be over. But what's next?

It's a Lolbit Show
