Chapter 1 - The Android Sent By CyberLife
Puma's POV
"Ugh, where is it?" I rummaged through Dad's desk, empty as usual. There was an insane amount of paperwork which flooded his workspace. We've been assigned a case on a deviant attack on a victim named Carlos Ortiz. His android charged at his owner, killing him, and fled. That's all I remembered because I had lost the paper, which blended into all my dad's other paperwork.
"Excuse me, Miss," asked an unfamiliar male voice behind me.
I quickly whipped around to look to see who was talking to me. Before me, I saw a handsome looking guy. I blinked. He had dark chocolate brown eyes, dark brunet hair, smooth skin, and slightly raised eyebrows, which formed three creases on his forehead. His hair was slicked back except for a small fringe of hair hanging from the side of his forehead, reaching his left eyebrow. He had a white-collar shirt on with a black tie and jeans. Overtop he had a dark grey jacket with the letters RK800 stitched onto it with a jumble of numbers below. I looked up to confirm my suspicions. He had an LED, which was light blue, embedded in his right temple. Yes, it was an android. No doubt CyberLife had to work hard on it. It did look attractive.
"Eh, yes?" I snapped back to reality, remembering I was talking to the android. As everyone knows, androids don't have genders, but he looked so human.
"Is Lieutenant Hank Anderson around?" he asked, slowing down on my dad's name as if he was afraid I wouldn't understand him,
"No, no he isn't. Sorry. But I'm his partner." I nodded my head. "And... who would you be?"
"My name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife. I was sent to find Lieutenant Anderson and accompany him with his partner or deviant-revolving cases. I have been informed about a homicide and was sent here."
I nodded again, taking in all the information.
'Dad and I accompanied by an android. This will be a happy day.'
"Do you know where I have a chance of finding him then, Detective?"
"He's probably at a bar getting wasted. If you hold on just a little while longer I'll come with." I turned back around and started looking for that file on Carlos.
"Is it a loose file about the deviant attack on a man named Carlos Ortiz? The victim that was killed by his Android?" I heard Connor, the android sent by CyberLife, behind me. I turned around with a questioning look.
"Yeah, how did you know- oh."
Connor was examining the file I was looking for.
"Yes, that's exactly it. Thank you, Connor sent by CyberLife." I smiled at him as he handed me my file.
"Call me Connor, Detective," he nodded to me.
"I know, I'm just messing with you." I playfully punched him in the shoulder. He felt... pretty human for an android. "Well," I put my file on my desk, across from Dad's. "Let's go find our drunken partner.

Connor took a quarter out of his jacket pocket and started doing tricks with it to pass time. I must admit, he was good. To show off some of my skills, I pulled out a keychain with a smile and started playing with it too. Connor looked at me questioningly as I stated it was for fast reflex purposes.
We walked up to Jimmy's Bar after a couple of minutes of just hearing clanking metal.
No androids or dogs allowed. I read to myself with a huff.
(A/N: Thank Ra9 Connor isn't a dog- oh wait.)
"Is there something wrong, Detective?" Connor looked over at me, continuing playing tricks while not looking at the coin.
"Nothing. Stay close to me. They might not like what they'll see."
"Why?" Connor asked as we entered the bar. "Oh," I heard a soft sound from behind me as the android sent by CyberLife was greeted with at least twenty pairs of eyes. Connor looked from left to right, putting his coin away. He seemed to be scanning his surroundings before continuing walking after me.
"Shit, the sign says no androids allowed. What's this tin can doing here?" I heard whispers. I sighed. Exactly what I'd expected.
Connor seemed to have no reaction to the hate so I decided to let it go. The thing I wanted to understand was why androids were hated by humans. Sure, I know they're scared of them because they're another intelligent form of life and unpredictable, but they were treating androids like they didn't have feelings. Which they didn't, but still.
"Ah, there he is," I got Connor's attention and pointed over to Dad, who was hunched over in a bar stool, watching a basketball game. Dad's always been a Detroit Gears fan. He tried to get me into sports but I was never interested. Connor nodded and walked over to him.
"Lieutenant Anderson?" he tried gaining Dad's attention. "My name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife. I was informed by your partner you would be here drinking nearby. We were lucky to find you at the fifth bar."
"We? What do you mean by 'we'?"
"We were assigned a case earlier involving an android. A homicide. CyberLife sent us an android to help with the investigation." I slipped into the stool next to him. "Jim, can I please have a mojito?" I asked the bartender, sliding my money over to Jimmy.
Dad's head perked up as he grabbed the money before Jimmy could reach it. "What the fuck are you doing here?" He asked, shocked. "And no, you aren't drinking at a bar." he pushed the twenty bucks into my chest and it fell onto my lap. I slipped it back into my wallet.
"Well, I knew you wouldn't listen to Connor, so I tagged along. We'll need his assistance with deviants."
"Well, I don't know about you, but I don't need any assistance. Especially not from this plastic asshole." he glared at the android. "So be a good little robot and get the fuck out of here before there's going to be another homicide."
"Hey! Connor's just trying to do his job!" I said to Dad.
"Don't raise your voice at me," Dad said warningly.
"I understand that humans are not... comfortable in the presence of androids, but I am-"
"I am perfectly... comfortable." Dad turned to Connor. "Now run along before I crush you like an empty beer can."
"Please," I pleaded. "Stop drinking and come with us. Give Connor a chance!"
"No, I won't," Dad rejected. He had no thought of moving.
Connor cleared his throat, deciding to make a positive impression.
"You know what? I'll buy you one for the road. What do you say?" Connor asked. Without waiting for a response, he slid over fifteen bucks and said, "Bartender, same again please!"
I smiled at Dad's shocked face. He quickly hid it as Jim poured him another whiskey.
"See that Jim? Wonders of technology. Make it a double." Dad took a swig of his drink and stood up, flattening his clothes. "Did you say homicide?" he looked at us.
"Yep," I grabbed his hand and moved him toward the door. "Now let's go." Connor followed behind closely.
"You've been drinking. I'm not letting you behind the wheel. So let me drive." I stated as we reached Dad's car.
"Not a fuckin' chance!" Dad went to open the door but I pulled him away.
"Either I drive, or Connor drives."
Connor perked up to the sound of his name, dropping the coin he was playing with. With a blush of blue in his cheeks, he picked it up and put the coin away.
Was he embarrassed? I thought. Androids don't have emotions. I heard a voice in the back of my head.
"Okay, fine." Dad threw the keys to me. I caught them, jumping behind the wheel. Dad himself was sitting shotgun and Connor sat in the back, looking out the window.
I turned the car on and headed toward the crime scene, Dad's music busting loudly in the car.
A/N: first chapter done! What do you think of the story so far?
