I have very, very mixed feelings about mpreg stories, omegaverse or otherwise. Nearly all male impregnation stories I've read fetishize the pregnancy. They treat it as a sort of novelty; they treat the impregnated male as an object of lust and pity, and often, disgust. Not unlike the way transgender men and masculine-presenting nonbinary people are treated when they get pregnant. As a transgender person, I take exception to that. (In my case, because I present femme, I did not face disgust and ridicule, or fetishization of my body parts - merely erasure. If I had a dime for everyone who insisted on calling me a woman even after I corrected them, I'd be able to pay off my house-sized student loans).So it is indeed an unexpected pleasure when I encounter a story that treats pregnant men as simply a matter of fact. Something that just happens. In the case of this story, the omega's status in the world also seems to be a metaphor for other forms of oppression. The story, you see, is set in the Deep South during the segregation era, and the alpha male who fathers children with a Black omega is white...Some parts of the story had me on the verge of tears near the end. Tears of rage. I almost never shout out authors, but I'm making an exception. Wattpadians, you need to read _Bound in Mud_ by - it's well-written, has fantastic characterization, and it screams when it needs to. You'll see what I mean by that last remark when you read the book.
