[11] Some Things Do Change...
School was over. You were walking back home with Kacchan. He was groaning and acting like you kidnapped him. And you were just snacking on a hot dog you got from a food stand.
"Why are you so worried about this rando anyway?" he asked.
"I dunno—I just have a bad feeling about it," you responded.
"Welp."
After a few more seconds, Kacchan stopped. You did the same, confused.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't know, I thought I heard something. . ." he mysteriously responded.
"L-Like what?" you wondered, becoming scared.
"I don't know, something like—BOO!" He jumped at you all the sudden. You screeched and leapt like a disturbed cat from the spook.
"WHAT THE CHIZ WAS THAT FOR!?!?"
"Pfft, I just wanted to scare you. You should have seen your face."
"Haha, that's so funny!" you replied. "You know what else is funny?"
"Wuh—"
You took the hot dog which was in your hand, and smashed it in his face. He reacted by raging, of course.
"WHAT THE HECK!" He wiped the smeared sauce off his face and glared at you, smoke emitting from his hands.
You snickered and ran ahead. "That's what you get when you try to scare m—"
"Hey."
"REEEEEEE—" You hopped back six feet and landed on Kacchan's shoulders. Looking down, it was Mineta who spoke. He was on the ground in front of you two, just being creepy.
Kacchan only mumbled, "What the—why are you speaking to someone as powerful as me, you Thanos fangirl?"
Mineta replied. "Well, I was trying to pick up chicks when—I just happened to see you two! I thought you didn't like her, Bakugou."
"I—"
"Well, if you don't, you could always pass her down to me when you're done~"
Kacchan displayed his steaming hands, glaring the grape down with a deathly expression on his face. "You better take that back, or we're gonna have ourselves a happy, little accident."
"But it's no fair! You get this super-hot girl who likes you, and you don't even give her the time of day! C'mon, (Y/N). We can pop open a diet coke, and watch Shrek at my house~"
"Uh, no???" you responded.
After a brief pause, Mineta took out his purple flip phone and snapped a photo of you two together. He then tweeted it for the whole school to see.
"EXCUSE ME, NO—" Kacchan reached for Mineta and squeezed his fist around him, only to hurl him over a building using his Quirk. Mineta screamed like he was being carried off by velociraptors or something.
Kacchan then turned to you. "Great! What if everyone sees that picture now!? I can't have you being a danger to my reputation! I gotta keep up an intimidating image so those losers FEAR ME!!!"
"Mineta probably has zero followers. Don't worry about it~"
"ERRRGHH—this is so stupid! Just—come on already." He snatched your wrist and continued walking. Except now, he was much hastier. You only giggled.
After some time, you arrived at your house.
"I'm going back home now—" he grumbled.
"Wait!" you yelled.
He tilted his head back. "What—"
You placed your hands together, embarrassed. "Uhm, I could—make you something to eat! Or drink—my mom isn't home yet, but we could watch a movie or something."
"Why on earth would I do that!?"
"'Cuz you have no friends?"
He growled.
"Aw, c'mon! Just for nostalgia's sake?"
"You know what? Fine. . .but only because I'm getting something to eat out of it."
Your plan was falling perfectly into place.
So, you two went inside. You began pulling all the food out the fridge—from leftover KFC to some three-year-old nacho Lunchables in the back.
"I'd rather eat the floor," spoke Kacchan.
Just as you put the KFC in the toaster oven, you glanced over at him. "What? Are you a picky eater or something?"
"I'm not hungry for that garbage. Maybe if I was desperate enough, but not this time around." He then plopped on the couch, searching for the TV remote. "How do you turn this stupid thing on?"
"Oh! I have an entire shelf full of my favorite movies. We could watch Titanic, The Notebook, Mamma Mia—"
"I wouldn't be caught dead watching those," he growled.
You let out a groan. "Fine, what do you suggest?"
"What about Zombie Slash 5? That was my favorite movie as a toddler."
Now I know why he's so disturbed.
However, you refused his offer.
"No, I wanna watch something cute and romantic!!" you bounced up and down, smiling widely.
Kacchan facepalmed. "Why am I even doing this? I SHOULD BE TERROIZING DEKU INSTEAD!"
"Why're you so mean to him? He only ever helped you up when you fell in that—"
"DON'T REMIND ME OF IT!!" he growled, letting his PTSD overtake him.
"Uhm, 'kay—y'know what? I have the perfect thing to cheer you up! Even more than Titanic~"
He sharpened his glare before reluctantly wondering, "What. . ."
Pulling up a box of multicolored scrunchies, you placed it in front of him. "These are my scrunchies, and everyone has a special story behind it."
Kacchan was now heading out the door, but you called him back. "WAIT!!"
"I'M NOT STAYING TO HEAR YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR STUPID HAIRTIES—"
"Please! Just give me a few minutes. . .it's been so long since we've done anything as friends." Your voice grew small, which sent a rare spike of guilt through his chest. He only stopped in his spot, which made you continue. "The truth is—I just think you're so cool. The coolest person I've ever met—and not just because of your Quirk, but because you're so inspirational."
"What—"
"Yeah. I probably wouldn't be in U.A. if it weren't for you," you confessed. "So, thank you."
Of course, that was only twenty-percent of the reason you were in U.A. High School. The main purpose you were there was because Kacchan was hotter than blue fire. But he didn't need to know that right now.
"If you wanna go back home and leave, I understand. It makes me happy enough to go on with the rest of the day—or even week—knowing we spent time together for at least five minutes of your excruciatingly busy life."
"(Y/N), I grew up with you. Cut that melodramatic garbage out."
"FINE—well, could you still stay, at least?" you asked, putting your hand out for him to grab.
There was a pause before he rudely ignored your hand and sat down. "Alright, but just this one time."
"YAY!!" you giggled, sitting down beside him. He scowled.
So, you slid Bee Movie into the DVD player.
"Out of all the movies," he stated. "Out of every single movie on the entire planet. You picked this one."
"Mhm! It was the first one we watched together. We saw it in daycare, remember?"
"Why are you like this?"
Around the part the bees began suing the human race, you glanced over at Kacchan. He reminded you so much of the character 'Ken' in a way. So, that was a scary thought.
Suddenly, you let out a yawn. Kacchan's blank gaze at the television broke as soon as he felt a pressure on his shoulder. He looked down to see your head rested against it. Your eyes were now closed, and the relief of being able to rest made your expression look content.
"What the—" he tried speaking, but stopped once he saw how sleepy you were. His first reaction was to throw you off, but something made him decide not to. Instead, he stood up and placed his school blazer over your arms. Ugh, I guess some things never change.
But what if Kacchan's feelings for you were. . .?
