"So then she was all like 'Jihoon-oppa I love you so much will you go out with me?' And I just went 'nahh sorry, I've already got a girl' and she was like 'omg who' and I went 'she's not in this school, she's my noona.' And now she's going round telling people that I have an older girlfriend and I couldn't be happier." Jihoon rambled, walking alongside Woojin as the pair had just got ice cream from the kiosk at the mall.
"Jihoon." Woojin sighed. "Firstly, I know this; I was stood behind you. She didn't call you oppa, she didn't ask to go out with you she asked if you had a girlfriend-"
"Tch, same thing." Jihoon replied, but Woojin continued listing regardless.
"No one says O.M.G they say 'oh my god', and when you said 'my noona' I'm pretty sure she thought you meant an older sister." Woojin told his friend.
"Wait, are you being serious?" The astonished boy was met with a curt nod from the other. "Oh fuck."
"You should've just kept your mouth shut." Woojin sighed. "The two of you aren't even going out."
"Well, practically, we are." Jihoon stated. "Like, she hugged me, Woojin. That's gotta mean something."
"Omg, wow, she hugged you. Now you're married and she's carrying your babies."
"Firstly, I thought no one said omg." Jihoon mimicked his friend. "Secondly, I think mine and Hana's babies would be adorable."
"Dude that's disgusting." Woojin exhaled. "You're a minor."
"So are you, shut up." Jihoon retorted.
"I'm not the one who wants to impregnate Ha-mphjpp" Woojin's mouth was suddenly covered by Jihoon's hand, and the boy was dragged to the floor behind an indoor planter, creating a barrier between the boy's and whoever the hell they were hiding from.
Jihoon tells Woojin to "shushh!" And then releases his hand from the boy's mouth.
"What the hell are you doing?" Woojin whisper-yelled, staring at the other boy and waiting for an explanation.
"Hana's over there." Jihoon gestured to a restaurant. Woojin looked over to see that he was indeed right; Hana and Dahye were sat in the window seat of the restaurant.
"Why are we hiding then?" Woojin asked. "I thought you wanted to be a man now? They don't hide from their crushes like pussies you know." Jihoon was taken aback by the other boy's phrasing.
"I don't think I've ever heard you talk like that before." Jihoon stared astonishingly at his friend.
"It's because I hang out with you and your derogatory terms too much." The boy sighed. "Don't tell my mum."
"Anyway." Jihoon spoke up. "Take another look; the two of them are with guys."
"Omg what." Woojin span back around to look again.
"I thought-"
"Park Jihoon don't even try." Woojin huffed, causing the other to chuckle slightly.
"Is that... Kang Daniel!?" Woojin exclaimed. Jihoon's eyes widened, popping his head up a little so he can look to.
"Oh my god it is!" Jihoon cried out. "And Ong Seongwoo! What the hell are they all doing together?"
"Didn't Dahye and Seongwoo go out like four years ago?" Woojin asked.
"Tch, how do you remember stuff like that?" Jihoon asked.
"Oh I don't know." Woojin replied back harshly. "I just do."
"Well, Dahye and Seongwoo may just be on a date and they each brought a friend along.." Jihoon attempted to reason. "Yeah, that makes sense."
"Well, what are we gonna do?" Woojin asked.
"We've got nothing better to do, so let's follow them around for a bit just to see what they are doing together." Jihoon suggested, causing Woojin to sigh.
"Come on, we have lives too Jihoon, we can't just-" Woojin was interrupted.
"I may have a life, but I can't live it knowing that my Noona could be on a date with another guy - regardless of who it may be." Jihoon replied. "Which is why it is both my obligation as her pretty-much-boyfriend and yours as my best friend to follow them. You in?"
"Ugh, fine." Woojin complained. "This is one of the reasons my mum doesn't like you.." he added under his breath, but it went unnoticed.
"Woojin!" Jihoon whisper-exclaimed. "Hide! They're leaving!" The two made sure they were completely out of sight, but made sure to watch the four of them as they made their way out of the restaurant. Jihoon mentally sighed in relief as Hana was walking alongside Dahye, and not one of the guys.
"They're on the move. Let's move out!" Jihoon whispers to Woojin, who takes a deep breath, but nods regardless. The two boys stealthily follow behind, keeping their distance by hiding behind the planters as they went.
"Jihoon!" Woojin interrupted the boy's focus. "We're drawing too much attention to ourselves by doing this, we'll have to walk among the crowd!"
"That's gonna be risky." Jihoon mumbled. "We need disguises... you got any cash?"
"Only change from the ice cream." Woojin replied.
"Okay me too. That should be enough." Jihoon told the other, and the two of them swiftly grabbed a pair of sunglasses from the nearest shop, payed, and ran back outside.
"Look! They're going into the arcade!" Woojin pointed towards the arcade entrance, where Hana, Dahye, Daniel and Seongwoo were all ambling inside, broad smiles on their faces. "Let's go!" The two boys followed them inside, keeping their eyes out for Hana and her crew. Luckily for them, Seongwoo was creating a scene so the boys could hide behind a claw machine, watching the four others intently.
"Look at the way Daniel's staring at my noona!" Jihoon huffed. "He's definitely gonna try pull her into the back room, I can see it happe-"
"Jihoon chill." Woojin sighed. "Aren't you listening. Hana keeps calling him 'dude' or 'bro'; she's friend-zoned him."
"Oh my gosh you're right.." Jihoon replied. "I knew I could rely on my Noona."
"But Daniel is staring at her a lot..." Woojin contradicted himself. "And from what we know, Daniel's a flirty, manly guy, who's very persistent. If Hana really is into guys that can protect her then Dan's ya man, which could be a problem."
"So what can we do?" Jihoon exclaimed. "Intervene in some way?"
"Not now." Woojin replied. "We have the upper hand in knowing the opposition, whereas Daniel doesn't know who he's up against. Intervening now would be disastrous, because it also looks like we're stalking Hana, and that doesn't look good."
"But isn't that what we're doing?"
"Hana doesn't need to know."
"Okay fine," Jihoon sighed. "So what can we do- oh god he's put his arm round her Woojin we need tO DO sOMetHiNg!"
"I'm thinking!" He replied. "Umm..."
"Oh my god! I remember my sister saying to me one time that if Dahye or her is on a date and is in a position where they're uncomfortable they call each other saying someone's in the hospital, creating an 'emergency' so they can get away immediately." Woojin burst out.
"Woojin I honestly don't know what I'd do without you..." Jihoon smiled. "But how do we get Yerim to call Dahye saying someone's in the hospital?"
"Bribing won't work." Woojin bluntly replied. "And I owe her a favour, not the other way around."
"Woojin."
"Yeah?"
"Punch me."
"Never again after what happened last time." Woojin snapped back. "I am still traumatised to this day."
"But wasn't it like yesterday?" Jihoon asked.
"No Jihoon there's been a time skip since then." Woojin replied. "Have you even been keeping up with this story?"
"Haha nope." He laughed.
"Maybe we could pretend that you actually need to go to the hospital..." Woojin suggested. "I could call my sister.... saying that we need Hana at the hospital with you... because..."
"Because she's my legal guardian." Jihoon blurted. "This is actually true: my parents are away so if I'm injured then my legal guardian would have to sign any documents. Yoo Hana is my legitimate legal guardian, so she can't say no."
"Perfect." Woojin smiled. "We can say you broke your ankle."
"Excuse me boys." One of the staff members came over. "If you're not going to play on any of the games and you're just going to chat can you do that outside?"
"Shall we go to a quieter place?" Jihoon asked, causing Woojin to nod. "Of course, sorry sir." Jihoon bowed politely, Woojin copying, and the two left the arcade - making sure not to get noticed by Hana.
The boys found a secluded place not too far from the arcade (it was still in sight) and they rang Yerim.
"Remember, broken ankle." Woojin whispered to Jihoon.
"Hello?" Yerim answered.
"Noona!" Woojin exclaimed. "We need help! Me and Jihoon are out and he's just broken his ankle!"
"Oh my god what!?" Yerim exclaimed. Woojin glared at Jihoon, and the boy started crying out in fake pain just to make it that little bit more authentic. "Have you called an ambulance?"
"Y-yeah they're on their way." He lied.
"Jihoon told me that he needs a legal guardian to sign his documents because his parents are out of town at the m-moment and that his legal guardian is Hana-sunbaenim but we don't have her number and I-" Woojin internally fist-bumped himself for his amazing acting.
"Don't worry Woojin-ah, I'll call Dahye. Her and Hana are always together." Yerim replied.
"T-thank you Noona." Woojin thanked his sister. "Can you tell her to meet us at the hospital?"
"Will do. Remember to stay calm. Okay?"
"Okay noona. Thank you."
And with that the call ended.
"WE DID IT!" The boys screamed at each other, high-fiving each other and turning a few heads as well.
"And now we wait for Noona." Jihoon smiled, staring at the entrance of the arcade. However, that's smile quickly faded when they noticed she wasn't alone.
"Fuck..." Jihoon cursed. "What do we do now!?"
"They're going to the hospital..." Woojin blanked. "We..."
"WE NEED TO GET THERE BEFORE THEY DO OR WE'LL BE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!"
