****Lyra's P.O.V.****
"Ly. Ly? LYRA?! WAKE UP YOU LAZY BUM!" I heard a faraway voice call to me. They started shaking me, and their faraway voice became not-so-faraway. I slowly and groggily sat up, blinking until the blurriness subsided.
"We're here, Lyra. Get up already. We've been trying to wake you for ages!" Hermione was waving her arms around like a crazy person.
"Oh, hi Hermione." I looked down at my wrinkled robes and muttered a spell to fix them. "Let's go!" I waved them out of the compartment, only to realize we weren't in the compartment anymore; we were in one of the carriages.
Harry must've noticed my confused face, because he spoke up. "We carried you here because you wouldn't wake up," he lowered his voice a bit, "are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Harry, just n-n-nightmares," I yawned on the last word.
"What about?"
"Bright green lights, screams, and the dark mark. And the worst part was that I found a sickening pleasure in it."
Hermione, who had been listening, went pale. "Were there tents everywhere? And small shops?"
"Now that you mention it, yeah, why?"
"Ly, remember when Harry and I left to go to the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasleys?" I nodded. "That's what you saw, I think. It must've been from that. Did you see the newspaper around then?"
I nodded. I don't think now would be the time to mention that Sirius didn't get the Daily Prophet; he said it was rubbish.
We got to the Great Hall, and I sat down, my mind still on the Quidditch Cup. Once the students had need sorted and we finished our feast, Dumbledore stood up to make his usual speech.
"Now that we are all fed and watered, I have a special announcement to make. This year, Hogwarts will be hosting the Triwizard Tournament-"
"YOU'RE JOKING!" Fred shouted over the rest of the sudden chatter, interrupting Dumbledore.
"No, Mr. Weasley, I am not joking. But now that you mention it, over the summer I did hear a good one about a troll, a hag, and a leprechaun that went onto a bar-" McGonagall cleared her throat. "Ah, but now is not the time. Yes, where was I? I'm afraid I must offer a small explanation to those of you who don't know what this tournament. Those of who who are already acquainted may allow your attention to wander freely." As I remembered reading about this in a book, I zoned out for most of it.
". . . the schools will be arriving on Halloween, and I hope you'll show them respect." Dumbledore sent us off to bed, and I felt home again under the covers.
"Lyra. *poke*Lyra. *poke* Lyra,*poke* Ly-"
"WHAT?!"
"Dumbledore wants to see us." Hannah smirked at my rat's nest bun and grumpy face. I quickly dressed in my uniform, and ran to meet Hannah at the gargoyle before class.
"Chocolate frogs," we walked up the -huge - set of stairs
"Ah, hello, girls." Hermione, Sarah, and Lucy were also in the room. "I'm sure you all remember Halloween of last year?"
"Yes. . ." we chorused in almost identical skeptical voices.
"Since your performance was enjoyed so much last year, I was wondering if you would like to represent Hogwarts when the other schools arrive?"
We all shared ecstatic looks "could we?!"
"You may, however it will require three songs this year."
"Aye aye, cap'n" we all gave Sarah weird looks.
****Halloween Night****
As soon as the boys stopped oogling at Beauxbatons, and the girls at Durmstrang, we were introduced.
First song: Ordinary, by Ricky Dillon
Sarah: Turn on the West side, playin, my song
Lucy: Got the KIA Soul with my cheap shades on
Hermione: Gonna ride right through the night
Hannah: Jump off the gate, fall to the ground
Lyra: It don't matter, still hittin' this town
Lucy and Sarah: Oh, it never felt so right
Lyra, Hannah, and Hermione: Tonight we're runnin'
Lucy: 'Round the boulevard
Lyra, Hannah, and Hermione: I couldn't, no I couldn't ask for more
All: So sick and tired of stayin' up to see the break of dawn
Sarah: Everybody's taking' shots to the past out on the lawn.
All: Broken hearts and Styrofoam and empty double cups, I guess I'm ordinary, 'cause I don't give a what
Music
Hannah: Chillin' on the sofa, with a tank top
Lucy: Just let it go right through my head
Lyra: T.V. screen, Mariokart, everybody knows that I get a head start
All: Tonight we're rollin' 'round the boulevard, I couldn't, no I couldn't, ask for more.
Sarah: So sick and tired of stayin' up to see the break of dawn, everybody's takin' shots to the past out on the lawn
All: Broken hearts and Styrofoam and empty double cups
Lyra: I guess I'm ordinary
(Almost) everybody gets up to clap, but Dumbledore soon quiets them, as we're not done yet.
Second song- Oath, by Cher Lloyd ft. Becky G.
"Lyra chose this song for-" Sarah began, but I Silencio-ed her before she started something awkward.
"I didn't choose this song, you did, remember, for-" she non-verbally returned my spell. Hermione shook her head and mindlessly waved her wand to return us to normal. Everyone was laughing at us, so Lucy began the song.
Lucy: My best friend, best friend to the very end, cause best friends, best friends, don't have to pretend
Sarah: You need a hand, and I'm right there, right beside you
Lucy: You in the dark, I'll be the bright light to guide you
Hermione- 'Member the times, times, times, sneakin' out the house
Lyra: All of the times, times, times that you had your doubts. And don't forget, all the trouble we got into
All: We got something you can't undo. Laughing so, so hard. Crashed your dad's new car. All the scars we share.
Hermione: I promise, I swear!
Lucy: Wherever you go, just always remember
Sarah: That you got a home for now and forever
Lyra: And if you get low, just call me whenever
All: This is my oath to you!
Lucy and Hermione: Wherever you go, just always remember
Sarah and Lyra: You're never alone, we're birds of a feather
Hannah: And we'll never change, no matter the weather
All: This is my oath to you!
Hannah: I know I drive you crazy, hmph, sometimes
Sarah: I know I call you lazy, and that's most times
Hermione: But you complete me, and that's no lie
Lyra: You are my tuxedo, and I'm your bow tie
Sarah and Lyra: We in the car, sing, sing, singing our song
Lucy: Walk in the woods and tear it down like we King Kong
Hannah: And in my mind, you can do, do no wrong
Lyra: You got a best friend, sing, sing along
All: Laughing so, so hard. Crashed your dad's new car. All the scars we share
Lyra: I promise, I swear!
Hannah: Wherever you go, just always remember
Sarah: That you got a home, for now and forever
Lyra: And if you get low,
Hermione: Just call me whenever
All: This is my oath to you!
Third song- Lost Boy, by Ruth B.
Lyra: There was a time, when I was alone
Sarah: Nowhere to go and no place to call home
Hermione: My only friend was the man on the moon, and even sometimes he would go away, too
Lucy: But then one night, as I closed my eyes, I saw a shadow flyin' high
Hannah: He came to me with the sweetest smile, told me he wanted to talk for a while
Sarah: He said 'Peter Pan, that's what they call me. I promise that you'll never be lonely' And ever since that day. . .
Lyra: I am a lost boy, from Neverland, usually hangin' out with Peter Pan
Hermione: And when we're bored, we play in the woods, always on the run from Captain Hook
Lyra: He sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe, believe in him and believe in me
Looking around, almost everyone was smiling and clapping. Except for five Gryffindor boys, who were sitting, heads turned our way, mouths dropped open. At that moment, I didn't care that half the school didn't get half the references, I was just happy.
I blushed, and sat down next to the person that was looking kept my eye the entire performance.
"Close your mouths, boys, you'll attract flies." Sarah smirked at them. She started to eat her food in a way that looked uncannily like a goat with arms. . .
". . . the Goblet will be set up in the Great Hall and open to all those of age wishing to enter their names. You have exactly one week.
"On a much different note, to welcome our guests, there will be a costume party in each house common room that only that house will be able to attend. Our guests may partner up with a Hogwarts student and go to their party with them." All of the schools walked out of the Great Hall and wandered around, looking for a partner.
A girl about my age, blonde, came up to me and smiled. She seemed less. . . plastic. . . than the rest of Beauxbatons. "'Ello, I'm Gabrielle. May I go to ze 'Ogwarts party weeth you?"
"Sure. I'm Lyra Black, but I'll probably be going to three different parties. I'm a Tri-House, I mean."
"Really? Zat eez amazing! I-"
"Hello, Freak." I froze. Then I started trembling. Not with fear, but with anger.
"Nice to see you, too, Amy. I-" I started cracking up laughing as soon as I turned around. Half of her head was almost bald, with a small patch of singed hair, from the last time we met; a year ago.
"Yes, Freak, I got an invite, to. Isn't that's"
"Ugh, what happened to her? Is that Amy?!" Sarah's voice sounded out from behind me.
"Well, your freak friend decided to light me on fire, and my hair won't grow back. But, on the bright side, while you were picking up your freak stuff over the summer, you left a really interesting book behind." She held up my diary. I don't write in it anymore, but I did all last year.
I looked at Sarah with pleading eyes, and she nodded. Together, we burst into flames and lunged towards her. Startled, she dropped the book, and I immediately set it on fire.
Once I extinguished myself, I saw Gabrielle trying to fight her way out from behind an older girl, probably her sister
"Gaby, stop fighting. She eez a monster."
"Fluer, stop. She eez nice, go off weeth your Raven freends." Fleur moodily obeyed. I looked back, and Amy was almost completely bald. I sighed, but muttered a spell that would reverse magical fire.
Harry came over to me. "Ly, can I hang out with you and Girl-I-Don't-Know-The-Name-Of? Romilda Vane keeps pretending she transfered. I mean, we're in the same house, for Merlin's sake!"
"Harry?"
"Yeah?"
"Shut up. And sure you can. Harry, meet Gabrielle, Gabrielle, meet Harry. So, where to first? Hufflepuff, Slytherin, or Gryffindor?"
Gabrielle smiled. "Anywhere but with the Ravens."
"Anywhere but with Malfoy."
I leaned closer to both of them and whispered. "Gryffindor. I saw Hermione partnered with some Durmstrang guy. And Hannah was with Neville."
I gasped. "Fred, George, do you have any Halloween mistletoe?" They smirked at me.
*
"Done!" I finished hanging up the black and orange mistletoe above the sandwiches. It's charmed so that, until it catches whoever Fred and George want it to, it won't go away.
I drag Hannah away while Harry talks to the, now alone, Neville. All of the girls and guys have pretty much disappeared to get their costumes. We all know it won't take long; there was a huge costume wardrobe (A/N: Going to Narnia with Lydia Q) to find our costumes in, hence the name.
I'm dressed as a rose, my middle name, along with Gabrielle, who, coincidentally, is named Gabrielle Rose Delacour. I'm dressed in a pair of black leggings, a rose-coloured dress, a pair of rose-coloured converse, and a black beaded mask that covered half my face. The dress was tight, but not too tight, at the top, and had a curled tutu from my hips to about mid-thigh. Gabrielle, who was going as a white rose, was wearing the same thing as I was, with a pair of white converse and a white dress.
We began walking down the stairs, linked arms, and I almost immediately began to feel self conscious. The room was quiet enough to hear a pin drop, and I hoped it was out of admiration rather than disgust. Looking over, I saw Hannah and Neville stuck under the Halloween mistletoe, and I smirked.
****Harry's P.O.V.****
The room got quiet and, me being me, I looked around to see why. There were two beautiful girls coming down stairs in linked arms, dressed in rose costumes and decorative masks (A/N: yay, Harry learned a new word!) The one on the left was smirking, and she looked familiar, but I couldn't figure out where I've seen her from.
I could fell someone next to me, and I looked over to see Romilda. I subtly walked away, and stood next to a boy I'm my year I recognized as Aaron. He, like me was sharing in awe at the two girls, though his eyes were on the white rose girl. My attention was focused more on the red rose. She wasn't really wearing red, more like maroon-ish, but whatever.
Maroon rose nudged white rose and pointed at Aaron, and white rose did the same, pointing at me. They walked over to us, gracefully dodging other drooling guys.
****Lyra's P.O.V.****
I nudged Gabrielle, pointing at a purple haired boy in awe of her. "Gaby, turn off your veela, these guys are gonna attack you."
"I do not have any of ze veela, remeember?"
"B-but they're all staring at you?"
"No, Leera, zey are staring at us."
Still with linked arms, I led us towards the two boys that caught my eye. I knew one of them was Harry, despite the mask. I also knew that he didn't know it was me.
I began dancing with him, and it could've been hours before I willed myself away from him. What? I had to pee. . .
Exiting that bathroom, I walked to the black Lake for some alone time. After a while, I turned back, only to bump into a panicked girl attempting to levitate herself, a towel around her waist.
"Need help?"
She smiled, relieved at me. "Yeah, er, just drop me in the water?" I obeyed, and a look of relief flooded her face.
"Why are you going swimming? Especially now, it's a full moon, with werewolves and such."
"Can you keep a secret?"
"Yeah, actually." She moved her towel away from her waist, and revealed a bright mint mermaid's tail.
"Oh, that's right, mermaids transform on full moons, don't they? I'm Lyra Black, nice to meet you."
"Hi, I'm Bella Tree. Thanks, really, for keeping this quiet." (A/N: I didn't come up with that name, my sister's Bus Buddy did. Don't ask.)
"No problem, but, look, I have to go back to the party, love to see you tomorrow, though." She nodded, so I smiled at her, rushing back to the castle.
I met up with Harry soon after. "Sorry, I got distracted."
"So, do I get to know your name, yet?" He smiled softly at me
"No, not yet. But you'll figure it out soon."
*
Today was Choosing Day, for the tournament. I wasn't really that interested; nobody I knew had successfully entered. We were actually heading to dinner now, Hannah, Lucy, and I. Sarah was off with Lee somewhere, and Hermione was probably being framed for something she didn't do. It was a tradition.
". . . I think the Goblet should be ready soon. I estimate it will require about one more minute," he stood there patiently while half the castle was on the edge of their seats. I think even the Bloody Baron came to see.
"And the Durmstrang champion is. . . Victor Krum! For Beauxbatons. . . Fleur Delacour! And the Hogwarts champion is. . . " his face went pale, "Lyra and Sarah Black . . ." we shared a look, her, terrified, holding onto Lee's arm.
At the same time, we stood up and walked towards the back room. "Sar, I didn't put my name in that Goblet, and I know you didn't either." I sat down, and passed out, but not before I heard the last name
"HARRY POTTER?!"
