(A/N: I actually copy-and-pasted this song from A-Z Lyrics, so I'm sorry of it's written or looks weird. And don't hate me, this isn't the end of the book!)
****Lyra's P.O.V.****
Today was the day of the final task, and I was performing with Sarah. We were performing one song, Centuries, by Fall Out Boy.
" . . . and now, a performance by Hogwarts' very own, Sarah and Lyra Black!" A very giddy Ludo Bagman announced.
We stepped out of the shadows and began our song.
Sarah: Some legends are told
Lyra: Some turn to dust or to gold
Both: But you will remember me
Remember me for centuries
Lyra: And just one mistake is all it will take
Sarah: We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries
Both: (Hey yeah, oh hey, hey yeah) Remember me for centuries
Lyra: Mummified my teenage dreams, no, it's nothing wrong with me
Sarah: The kids are all wrong,
The stories are off, heavy metal broke my heart. Come on, come on and let me in
Both: And this is for tonight
I thought that you would feel
I never meant for you to fix yourself
Both: Some legends are told
Some turn to dust or to gold, but you will remember me, remember me for centuries
Lyra: And just one mistake is all it will take
Both: We'll go down in history
Remember me for centuries
We ended the song together, smiling, no idea of the horrors that we would face in two short hours.
The first whistle blew, and Harry and I ran in, together.
We split ways at the sphinx. Harry knew that he most likely wouldn't know the riddle, so he went to face something else (it was a mutual agreement).
I was terrified.
****
"Harry!" My boyfriend, terrified, looked back at me, green eyes shining.
Sarah had been disqualified after freezing up by what looked like a giant spider. Fleur had been spelled by Viktor. Viktor had been knocked out by Harry. It was only us left.
The blue cup was sparkling in front of us, only a few paces away. I saw something strange glint in Harry's eye, before it passed.
"I'm tired of competing. How 'bout we both win this. Together." Harry smiled.
"Agreed. Ready?"
"Ready." We ran forward, advancing in the cup, hand-in-hand.
The moment our flesh met the cool handles, we were transported.
"Wormtail . . . do it." I heard a voice, a voice that seemed eerily familiar.
I recognized it at once.
Flashback:
"Regulus . . . you have failed me. You promised your loyal service and undying loyalty. Now your family shall pay the price. AVADA KEDAVRA!"
Flashback over.
This voice was weaker. This voice, however, still held power and evil.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!" He shouted. He, the man who ruined my boyfriend's life. He, who ruined my father's life. Then I noticed that the spell wasn't headed towards Harry.
It was headed towards me.
****Hermione's P.O.V.****
As soon as Harry, Sarah, and Lyra were in the maze, I burst into tears. My three best friends, family even, were participating in a tournament that people had died in.
There's also the fact that the three of them didn't even put their own names in the tournament, and the other two, well, I don't really care.
That sounded bad.
Okay, of couse I care, just not nearly as much. Ron must've noticed, because he placed his arm around me and rubbed my shoulder while I cried softly into his shirt.
"Ron?" I croaked.
"Yeah, 'Mione?"
"W-what if they're not okay? Ron, what if we lose them? I can't, Ron, I can't. Sarah and Lyra are like sister's to me, and Harry is my brother."
"Hermione Jean Granger, you listen to me right now! Harry has cheated death three times, lived with a murderer, and survived having a girlfriend. Lyra And Sarah are strong, and Hermione, they're Spotters. They'll be okay."
"But Ron, what if it's too much. Harry's already cheated death three times. What . . . what if it's too much. If he dies, Ron . . . "
"Do you like him, 'Mione?" Ron asked suddenly.
"Ron, that's barbaric. Harry's like my brother, and besides . . . I have my eye on someone else." I looked away, blushing.
****Sarah's P.O.V.****
My brother and my sister were in trouble. Harry and Lyra, they needed help.
Being a Spotter, or at least for me, I could tell. Not for Harry, as I'm not related to him by blood, but for Lyra. I could feel her heart beating fast, I could hear a cold voice hissing, and I could see blood red eyes. A bright green spell.
I closed my eyes and let myself dissolve and float away, another one of the side effects of my Spotter. I landed behind a tombstone in a graveyard that smelled of sulfur. I peeked out and saw a horrifing site.
The green light was gone.
And Lyra wasn't moving.
****Harry's P.O.V.****
I screamed. As loud as I could. So loud the the whole of Hogwarts could probably hear me, from wherever I was.
Lyra was gone. My hope was gone. I couldn't win this war without her. And it was all my fault. I said we should take the cup together.
I saw a flash of horrified grey eyes that had my hope back up again. I shouldn't let it, I know, but I can't help it. I look for light in dark situations.
I knew those eyes, though. They weren't the ones I fell in love with, no, they were Sarah's.
I didn't feel anything. Not when Pettigrew cut into my arm, not when Voldemort rose. My sanity was slowly seeping away. I could feel it, and I wanted so bad to join her. Lyra Black. I loved her.
My attention, and sanity, were brought back when Voldemort presses his finger to my scar. It was the kind of pain you just couldn't ignore. The rest of it was all a blur. Like, I was focused, but I couldn't remember what had happened two seconds before.
The only thing that have me hope were Sarah's grey eyes, ready to help me if needed. We began the duel. My 'expelliarmus' crashed into his 'avada kedavra' with so much force I had trouble standing up.
A blue, misty, force field emmerged from the center. My mum and dad, among others, formed from the mist. Even that didn't help.
" . . . She's not gone, Harry. Not fully. Now GO!" I didn't have time to register what she said first when I lunged for Lyra's body, Sarah showing herself from behind the tombstone where I saw the grey eyes earlier.
"ACCIO PORTKEY!" We disappeared to the cries of rage and cries of pain.
When we landed in the Quidditch field, the Hogwarts March began to play. No one noticed the dead body until they heard Sirius' cries.
"THAT'S MY GIRL! THAT'S MY BABY GIRL!" The crowd must've assumed he was proud. Tears of joy. We were all crying tears of joy, to them.
"SILENCE." Dumbledore commanded. "A STUDENT HAS DIED. REMAIN CALM." His voice, repeating himself over and over again.
I didn't fight being dragged away. I mean sure, of course the thought that this person might be a Death Eater crossed my mind. But when it came down to it, I simply didn't care. Lyra Rose Black was the reason I didn't give up hope.
****
Her funeral was three days later. She was wearing the dress she wore to the Yule Ball, her coffin painted with the house colours of Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Gryffindor.
It still sounds weird saying it. Her coffin. It just makes everything more real. She was gone.
She was really, truly gone.
I went to visit Hagrid before this. I couldn't see the thestrals. He said it was because I hadn't accepted her death yet.
I refused to speak at her funeral. As selfish as that may sound, I physically couldn't. Hermione and Ron spoke for me.
Well, you know how they say that when someone you know dies, it kills a piece of you?
It's a lie.
It kills every ounce of light left in you. It makes you want to join them. It doesn't kill a little piece of you, it kills all of the parts that make you, you. It takes every ounce of light and sanity you have left and crushes it to ash. Every ounce of logic, happiness, anything good, and leaves you with only the dark parts.
All of my strings were breaking. (A/N: Anyone get that?)
They tell you it'll get easier. They pretend it's true.
They lie.
I am broken. But it's okay. We can both be broken, Lyra and I.
Together.

A/N: Okay, don't kill me. And PLEASE READ.
I know what it may seem like, but SNOWFLAKES IS NOT OVER! There will be more, and please stick with me! Everything happens for a reason. And, of you decide to kill me anyways, remember that I died writing this.
