"When I'm not working, I am the laziest person. I can literally lie on a couch and watch television for 15 hours." - Jennifer Lawrence.

Saturday has always been and will always be the best day of the week. Not only is it day where I can get up late and go to bed late, but it's the day both my parents are out at work, leaving Jay and I home alone.

However, my brother is the sociable sibling, whereas I would rather hide away from any human contact at the weekends, he's always meeting up with people. So that leaves just me. Well, me and our family's pet cat, Grace.

Grace is almost as old as me, extremely overweight and seems to moult all year round, leaving soft grey fur where ever she goes. But that doesn't stop me pulling her onto my lap as I settle onto the sofa. She makes herself comfortable then falls asleep, purring softly. I pick up the television remote and turn it on.

The news begins playing, a very uptight looking newsreader informing us of yet another natural disaster. As a montage of depressing clips of destroyed buildings and people crying appears on the screen, I reach for the remote again and quickly change channel. I decide that today I'm not going to bother with anything other than eating and watching TV; I definitely won't let anything dampen my bright mood.

I've got a teaspoon dug into a jar of nutella when the house phone begins to ring. The shrill sound slices through the comforting quietness that had enveloped the house prior. Groaning, I remove my still snoring cat from my lap and clamber off the sofa to pick up the phone.

"Hello?" I mumble.

"Oh, at last! I texted and called you on your mobile but you didn't even pick up!" My mother's voice travels through the phone line. I'm not given the chance to explain that I haven't yet turned my phone on as she continues talking. "Anyway, I need you to get the washing in off the line in case it rains."

"Is that it?" I ask, unable to mask how frustrated I am.

My lazy day was supposed to involve no form of household jobs at all. Still, after saying bye to my Mum, I find some tattered shoes and trudge outside into the freezing air.

After collecting in all the damp washing and dumping it in a pile on one of the sofas, I sit back down in front of the TV. Reminded by the phone call from my mother, I rummage in my dressing gown pocket for my mobile.

Last night's events from the party run through my head for the first time today; I dread the notifications that are bound to appear.

But I'm surprised to find that, other than a couple of bulletins informing me of app updates and two texts and a missed call from my Mum, there's nothing.

Oh.

Maybe I'm so unknown within the school nobody knew where to find me on Facebook or Twitter. Still, the lack of a text from even Immy is confusing. Surely she would have something to say to me.

Glad that my encounter with Aaron Dean at his party hasn't caused unwanted drama towards me, I put my mobile on the side and focus my attention back on the television.

I spend the day doing nothing in particular, just channel flicking then settling on the occasional cheesy Christmas film, only to get irritated at how predictable it is and turn it off. Eventually, I find Home Alone being shown on one of the movie channels.

Finally happy with what's playing, I snuggle under a fleecy blanket, Grace purring softly on top of me. Before I know it my eyes have drifted shut and I'm slipping into a light sleep, the canned laughter and crashing of Home Alone turned down low providing a somehow relaxing background noise.
