005

jeongguk had never acted out, not once in his life.

he stared at his blank paper while his classmates were writing down information that was on the board. he looked to his fellow classmate, the wolf who had yet another weight chained to his neck. how heavy it looked to jeongguk. could he manage the pain?

the wolf stared down at his arms. his fingers were red and swollen. his body had taken a toll because of all the physical abuse he had gone through. and how grey he looked in his seat, how bleak and cloudy his eyes were. he picked at his weights attached to his wrists, his pinkie finger twitched just barely.

jeongguk felt his focus drift elsewhere. he had to help this snowflake out. he had told the bunny to never talk to him again, but his optimism read around all the red flags.

"whats the ans-"

"in july of 1392."

he knew. he knew all the answers. they had gone over this lesson so many times, and it was starting to give him a headache. the wolf was not paying attention, and his eyes looked like swirling marbles, like a slab of beautiful stone. his eyes were the prettiest shade of grey jeongguk himself had ever laid his eyes on. grey was so common, since the color was everywhere, even in the sky. the sky taunted the people below it, it told them that nothing would be colorful, not even the sky. that they should hope for nothing, not even a pretty sunset.

so when school ended with that final bell, and the wolf was sitting alone like he always tended to do, jeongguk pranced his way to the bench. the wolf perhaps thought that the bunny was just on his regular schedule but, come to think of it, that's not possible. nobody comes near the bench on wednesdays. nobody. so wolf boy snapped his head up, his eyes met the bunny's.

"what are you doing here?" the wolf, taehyung's voice sounded faint and weak. it sounded like the weight on his neck caused him to lack the strength he needed to speak. it sounded fragile and filled with hatred for the world he lived in, and the bunny could really tell. it made him feel pity for the wolf.

"i just wanna know why you snowflakes are treated so badly. aren't you prettier, smarter, and kinder than everyone else? why is that such a bad thing? how did you even become a snowflake?" jeongguk reached for his wolf mask, but the wolf pulled away, jumping up from the bench and backing up.

"i asked lots and lots of questions." taehyung sighed, a sly grin grew on his chapped lips, which confused jeongguk. nobody ever smiled, so why was the wolf happy? there was no reason to be.

"why are you smiling?" the bunny asked, persistent he was. how persistent can you get before the wolf runs away and you are left with nothing but unanswered questions? how many questions can you ask before you scare off the beauty and you feel electronic again? not very many, apparently.

"it is good to hear that i'm not alone, that's all. now go away." the wolf retorted and bid goodbye to the bunny before walking away. taehyung's weights shook the ground as he limped off.

how heavy that must be, how painful that must be, how terrible, how agonizing, how awful it must be to be a snowflake.
