Final Goodbye

"Caitlin Snow. Wife, mother, friend.

"The things we see, the things that we face, no one can do this alone. Trying is the biggest mistake that you can make."

...

"I love you, Caitlin Snow. I guess that's loved, now." Barry let out a hollow sound that might've been a laugh.

"I... I don't understand, you know? Why did you have to go? You... you had so much to live for! Me, Jacob... I guess life works in mysterious ways. Terrible ways.

"Cisco's gonna miss you almost as much as I will. Iris and Joe will too. But I think I'll miss you the most. I mean, you were my wife!

"I... I was broken before you came along. Chasing someone who was miles ahead of me. I had fallen, was desperately crawling after her. You found me and fixed me up. On top of that, you helped me up. You fixed me, Caitlin. And I couldn't return the favor."

He sobbed into his hands.

He couldn't believe that the love of his life was dead.

She wouldn't come back. Not like Sara, not like Laurel, not like Oliver... she wasn't going to get raised from some pool, or fake her death, or wake up on some stupid island.

She was dead.

"I keep trying to convince myself that you're at home, waiting for me with Jacob. But you're not. I would die if I thought it would do any good. But it wouldn't. Not anymore.

"I know I'm not supposed to time travel, but at this point, I don't really care. The only thing keeping me here is Jacob and Cisco.

"Cisco... he's dying. On the inside. You were his rock. Without Dante, you were the last person he had left. I'm the closest thing to anything that he has left.

"I wonder if anyone else would even care. I mean, it was just us. Cisco, me, you, Jacob. That's it. We were the four musketeers."

He laughed brokenly.

"Caitlin... I know you can't see me. Hear me. I just... just in case. If you can somehow hear me, I needed you to know those things. Need."

He wiped desperately at his eyes once more, but the tears wouldn't stop.

"I love you, Caitlin Snow. I'll never forget you or stop missing you. I doubt I'll ever move on, either."

He stared at the grave.

"Goodbye, Caitlin Snow," he whispered before turning around and walking away.

...

Note: That last scene broke my heart.

So, I'm trying to get back into this, but remember I have other stories.

I hope you enjoyed!
