"social media can be a great thing but is it great for young kids?

nowadays, teenagers and even younger log onto instagram, twitter- whatever it may be and what they do is compare. compare. we all know what they compare and how they do so.

looks. appearances. lives. nose shapes. everything. details.

comparison to other people is something we all do. it's something that has a negative impact on our mental health without us realising. it creeps into our body and makes us feel shame, guilt and horrible feelings.

so imagine what a young girl must think when she sees a post that's been edited to an extreme limit. i must be like this. this is the norm- is what she thinks. is it the norm? is anything we see online ever as genuine as we think? the truth is, no and we'll never know.

we grow up with these 'ideals' that we think are true. skinny. slim. pretty. makeup. there are certain standards we're meant to listen to.

kids with mental health is on the rise. the internet is a big cause. although it has its advantages, there's always disadvantages. i'm not saying the internet shouldn't exist...

all i'm saying is that maybe we need to think about what is right for the younger, new generations. teach them how to be safe online, teach them what isn't directly taught, teach them how and what it is like but in a gentle way."

Yoongi smiles brightly- standing out in the familiar audience. he wants to stand up and clap.

"so what are you two now?"

Jungkook questions, catching Yoongi's smile. it makes him smile too- seeing his hyung happy is wholesome. the older didn't want to be caught smiling but he has been and now his cheeks are tainted red. he's whipped.

Jungkook's present with him today. he decided to attend, wanting to see just what Helena stands for. he's happy he came. he's developed a new respect for the female his best friend has always had a crush on. the younger didn't expect to feel goosebumps on his arms when Helena spoke about the things people are afraid to nowadays.

"don't mention labels or she'll attack you." the other, quiet and Helena knowing friend beside them- Taehyung, mentions in an amused tone, keeping his gaze locked forward.
