I watched as the horses tries to graze, but the drought had practically killed all the grass and weeds we had left. My friends Hazel and Brenna sat on my either side as we watched from my houses kitchen window. We chomped down on are ice cream(COlD!") and every once in a while, we'd chat for a moment. Brenna sighed, "I want to go outside. You guys?"

Hazel through a piece of her dark brown hair over her shoulder and shrugged, her beautiful blue eyes shining under a thick veil of hair, "I don't see why not."

"Yeah, Let's go." I agreed and stood up, tossing my own light blond hair out of my face and heading the door with my friends right behind me. As soon as we got outside, the heat hit us like a wave of drenching fire. It made me want to charge right back inside, But of course, I didn't. We just kept walking. 

I nodded towards the rich dark brown stables Snowfall Ranch owns and suggested, "Let's go in there. It has an air conditioner."  Without waiting for an answer, I charges inside, relieved to see my friends had followed me inside. 

Brenna looked around, her Sea-Green eyes narrowing  as she took in her surroundings, then flipped her dark red , killer straight hair across her cheek and onto her right shoulder.  I walked down the aisle of stalls until I was at the last one, where Mia and her colt Cross slept. Cross had been born only a week ago, and most people loved seeing him.

When we walked to there stall, both were laying down. However, when they saw us, Mia was on her feet in a small amount of seconds and protectively circling her baby. Cross also climbed to his feet and pressed against his mothers side, giving a small whiney nicker. Beside me, Brenna laughed and told the two, "We won't hurt you!"

Hazel smiled and opened her mouth to speak, but was cut of by my Mom yelling, "Where are you girls?!"

I rolled my eyes, then shouted back, "In the stables, Mom!" She worried to much, I knew that at least.

"Lizabeth, you gotta quit bugging Mia and Cross! They need rest to, you know." My Mom said as she walked into the stables and over to us. She looked pretty in a peach colored tank top and dark green shorts with flip-flops that matched her shirt. Her overly thick light brown hair was tied in a messy bun and her silvery blue eyes shimmered. "Where's Sophia?" I asked. Sophia was my Moms best friend,and she often came over to the ranch.

"She's out getting grocery's. She'll come here tomorrow." She informed me , then added, " A women named Rosa Woods is coming over today to take a look at Jared. She might buy him."

Ugh. Jared and I hated each other. I'd trained him up and whipped him into shape. He still disliked me for that, and we often tangle  into fights.  I hope Rosa Woods does buy him. I thought with a shake of my head. My Mom smiled and added, "Can you and your friends get Jared ready for her?"

I groaned, " Do I have to?"

Before Mom could respond , Brenna smiled, " We'd love to"

Mom grinned,"Great! Mrs.Woods will be here in half an hour."

Hazel nodded, We'll have him ready."

Mom returned the nod before jogging away,out of are site. I looked over at Mia, who was still trying to shield Cross from us, but Cross crept closer with wide eyes and sniffed my palm for treats.
