Chapter 1

Acorn Collections
.......................................................
Somehow the birds wont stop chirping...
The grass stopped growing.
But why?
The animals are hiding
The wind is blowing
But how?
Oh right....The snowfall...

I woke up to a stick cracking in the snow. Or was it a footstep?
I stood up, yawning. My long white hair traveled down to my shoulders, and onto my small baby blue poncho.
My eyes fluttered open, and outside I saw my pet squirrel, Nutmeg, rolling in the snow. She was a beautiful squirrel, brown and had a little nut necklace.
Little squeaks of joy came out of her toothy smile. I smiled along with her and stepped out of my little den.
She noticed me and jumped onto my shoulder.
"Hey! How'd you sleep?" She cheerfully laughed.
"It was....ok...I had a dream about the snowfall!" I happily smiled.
"Great! Because the snowfall is happening tonight. I hope your ready!" She jumped off of my shoulder an ran into the den.
The snowfall is the first day of winter. And all tiny specks of snow falls onto the grass, only if the grass is watered and plenty full of flowers. It will freeze the lakes and rivers. I couldn't wait.
I heard from my aunt Dearia that the Snowfall only happened once every 10 years, so it was very special, but I didn't exactly believe that. I just think of it as a normal day for winter. Even though the snowfall happens AFTER snow is on the ground, it gives more snow, and announces the first day of winter.
I looked up into the sky and admired the clouds that formed a fluffy white paint, and the sky was the canvas. Different shapes and sizes of clouds had covered the sky and watched over us. Nutmeg looked up too and squeaked. She jumped onto my cold shoulder and nuzzled her face against mine, giving some warmth to my face. "Hey nutmeg? Do you think we should go find more of the acorns?" I said with a simple smile.
She ran into the forest and left me to follow. I sighed and help my hands close. The only thing I could feel was coldness. I breathed slowly and walked towards where Nutmeg ran.
The snowy ground made crunching noises as I walked heavily with my padded blue boots. The wind was carrying my hair in a slow motion, and my eyes were getting a little heavy from all of the fog.

I could not exactly breath from all of the wind coming from the clouds. It made me sniffle, and sneeze a few times. I couldn't see well, and I was getting lost. I could hear Nutmeg squeak once in a while, but I couldn't see where she was going. It was hard for my slow movements to catch up to her, and I didn't know where she was going.

As soon as I caught up with her, the winds died down and I could see again. Nutmeg was standing by an acorn tree, with thousands of acorns scattered about. She smiled and and jumped into my white-furred satchel I was carrying around with me. It was useful when Nutmeg and I collected acorns, and definitely saved up time, too. Nutmeg poked her head out from the satchel and motioned me to collect acorns. I sighed and bent downward to collect the chocolate brown nuts. They were covered with snow and were easy to wipe the snow off. Nutmeg would always count how many acorns we would collect, and tell me when the satchel is full so we can go back to the den.

"Cmon! Grab more!" Nutmeg yelled and jumped out of the satchel.  She decided to help me out. I smiled at the offer and collected more. As soon as we got done, we headed towards our den.
The aroma of burning fire was approaching my nose and alarmed me. I stood there, shaking.
"Nutmeg, do you smell that?"  I shook. Nutmeg nodded and jumped out of my pouch. She looked from behind a tree and her eyes widened.

"You need to see this." She said. I sighed and walked over where Nutmeg was and was in total shock. "This can't be happening..."
