I fell in love with pieces of the sky
My first crush burned with the glory of golden rays,
Bright, brilliant, funny, and proud,
The skies flaunted a vast blue plain
Where we ran and raced and screamed real loud,
An endless summer, a prideful youth
We ruled the world, we sought out truth,
But summer ends, and the sun goes away,
I still wish we meet again someday.
I fell in love with the summer sky.
Then, the hazy afternoon touched my heart,
Lazy, persistent, stubborn, and strong
The skies splashed with colors of a setting sun
Where we talked and laughed 'bout what went wrong,
A cool autumn, a conversation for tomorrow,
Like the stupid paper you'd always have to borrow,
But the sun sets, and noon turns to evening,
And without conversation, we'll both be leaving.
I fell in love with autumn's afternoon sky.
When it hurt to look at the sun, winter's stars greeted me,
Quirky, silly, charming, and fun,
You twinkled with stories and talks to share,
A myriad of inside jokes, the laughter's begun,
A cool, calm winter, but warmth in my heart,
Late night conversations that we'd always start,
But the stars feel billions of light years away,
And I can see how you look her way.
I fell in love with the winter night sky.
Now daybreak starts the cycle anew,
Kind, gentle, and encouraging too,
The skies splash with pinks, oranges, reds,
Each coming day, a surprising new hue,
I wake up to find a new surprise from you,
And each morning, we learn something new,
Let's make a promise, just us two,
I want to explore the world with you.
I fell in love with the morning sky.
.
.
.
I fell in love with the pieces of the sky,
The bright warm rays, to the quiet, lonely nights,
From the vast expanses of the afternoon to the promises of dawn,
Each time a new hope, sometimes the hope's gone,
But never will I forget the memories of how
In my heart lies the pieces of the sky.

Been thinking about the sky too much (and taking too many pictures).
