i dont know which fic to put this in.
Then came the final production of the night. It was dark out, and the crowds had dimished from families leaving earlier. The air was cool and still.
Mina and Izuku had been practicing the acting and choreography all month. The band team was on the sound board making sure everything was still working after the other performances. They gave the all clear.
Sitting in their starting positions on the dark stage, Izuku could hear it in his earpiece. "Sound? Check. All clear. Lights."
The spotlights came on. "Check. We all clear?"
"Yes." Both Mina and Izuku quipped. The crowds grew quieter as the music started.
Mina's acting was on point. It was honestly the right decision for her to do this part because Izuku had a hard time expressing every subtle tell that came with the speech. If it wasn't for the fact that it was not her voice and she wasn't speaking, he would definitely assume this was advice she gave someone. If he was being honest, she probably had.
As the speech ended with "remember," Izuku took Mina's hand. She pulled him onto his feet like she was. At the sound cue, they both looked down at their clasped hands, looked up, and gave eachother devilish grins.
The first portion of the routine had Mina pulling Izuku close and twirling him around in different ways, at one point pulling Izuku into a backwards walkover, almost never breaking contact.
Just before the lyrics start, Izuku does a backwards cartwheel so he has a bit of distance from Mina on the stage. This leads into the second portion of the routine. This portion contains a lot of synchronized choreography that devolves into doing moves consecutively between themselves the closer they get to the chorus.
When the chorus hits, Izuku does several flips in Mina's direction, going over her head and landing a space away. He kneels down to give Mina a surface to back-flip off of into her break dancing routine. During her routine, his spotlight dims to take away from his placement in the background.
Eventually he returns and they start the third portion of the routine. This portion consists of many moves that require them to swing the other around, under, and above themselves. It looks very reminiscent of a fight, but not a serious one. It represented petty friendly arguments between friends which is why they brought back the constant contact.
All of the swinging moves accumulated until it came to a peak with Izuku tossing Mina into the air with a twirl. After the toss, the complexity of the moves devolved to what they were doing in the first portion but smoother. Finally, they end up twirling into a hug at the end of the song.
They wait a few seconds before breaking apart and taking a bow to the audience. By this point, most are cheering. Izuku smiles and notices Mina smiling too. They both head off stage.
Their classmates not occupied with the stage equipment rushed up to them to gush about their performance.
"That was amazing!" Ochaco said, bouncing up and down. "You didn't tell me you could dance like that!"
"Trust me," Mina said as she gave Izuku a side hug, "It took a lot of work to make this one stop freezing up."
