beyond inheritance pt 2

Dabi was not one for kindness. Too many years of living on the streets, barely surviving, made him like that. That being said, he knew what it was like to suffer in light of not being able to afford shit. Shit like genuine sutures rather than staples.

So, when he heard Shiggy ask the kid why he hadn't gone for obviously better medical products, Dabi instantly understood.

The kid simply couldn't afford them. It also seemed as though the kid hadn't told anyone about his issues because Dabi is damn sure UA would be paying for the kid's shit if they knew. That being said, if UA wasn't going to be paying for them, then Dabi is sure as hell going to provide them using the League's funds. Fuck the fact that the kid is their enemy, Dabi just doesn't stand for that shit.

To be honest, he wasn't for targeting the kids at all. He was originally only there because he was being blackmailed by the big bad and the league would ultimately help him reach his goal, but now that All for One and his doctor friend are gone, he is only staying because there is safety in numbers.

So, here he is, wearing a hoodie, sunglasses, and face mask to buy medical shit from a Walgreens. It's seven in the morning.

It's also seven in the morning when the teachers at UA realize that Midoriya isn't in his dorm.

Dabi is in the self-checkout line counting his change when everyone's phones start dinging with emergency alerts. He tries not to come off as suspicious as he pays the machine and starts grabbing his bags. Thankfully, no one stops his exit and he successfully contacts Kurogiri to bring him back to the hideout.

When he gets back, he's confronted with Shigaraki and Spinner having yet another argument over video games while the kid just watches. Apparently, Compress had been assigned to watch the kid because he was sitting near with his hand resting across the back of the couch just in case the kid tried to escape.

Not wanting to deal with the morons, he tossed the plastic bag full of various chronic pain items into the kid's lap. "Have at it. I'm going to bed." The kid gave him a small appreciative smile before he turned away.

----

Izuku was amazed with what was in the bag. There were compression gloves and sleeves, high quality arthritis creme that cost a fortune, and pain relief patches. Izuku was both grateful and confused, but he didn't want to single Dabi out after he had already left, so he kept his silence. He popped open the cream and massaged it into his hands before slipping on the sleeves and gloves, struggling a bit to put them on under the cuffs. His hands instantly felt a bit better, and he relaxed.

"Whoa, kid. It really hurt that bad?"

Izuku turned to see a larger villain he had yet to learn the name of. As if sensing his curiosity, the villain introduced themself. "My names Magne. Everyone here calls me Big Sis Mag." Izuku nodded, satisfied. The rest of the room reacted as though letting out a breath that Izuku didn't even know they were holding. It was like he passed a vibe check for the entire league.

He didn't answer Magne's question.

----

Meanwhile, Class 1-A was freaking out in the common room. Uraraka and Denki were crying. Tsuyu was trying to console Uraraka. Mina was strangling Denki out of stress. Sero was trying to stop her. Todoroki was sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. Bakugo was sitting in the corner of the room, brooding. Satou was stress baking. Momo and Iida were trying to organize their classmates. The rest were in conversations.

Aizawa came back from his phone call to Nedzu. "Alright hellspawn! Sit down and be quiet!"

Everyone was quick to find a place to sit. They waited for their teacher to speak.

"Nedzu has called over a detective to find Midoriya. He will have an interview with each of you to try and piece together what happened last night. Be honest with your statements. He will know if you are lying." Done speaking, he left.

----

Kirishima

"My name is Detective Tsukauchi. My quirk is lie detector. You are Kirishima Ejiro, correct?"

- "yes." (True)

"Can you tell me what happened around the time Midoriya left? Did he say where exactly he was going?"

- "Well, I don't know exactly where he was going, but he had run out of his coffee that morning. He complained about it during lunch. I'm pretty sure he went to get some." (True)

"Did anyone go with him?"

- "I don't think so. The league hasn't been very active lately, so we have been allowed to leave without an escort as long as we make periodic check-ins. Midobro wasn't in the mood to shop with someone either. He gets snappy and such when he's tired." (True)

"Where were you when he left?"

- "I was studying with Bakugo in his room. I think the hallway cameras can verify that." (True)

"Thank you for talking with me, Kirishima."

- "You're welcome!"

*
Bakugo

"My name is Detective Tsukauchi. My quirk is lie detector. You are Bakugo Katsuki, correct?"

- "Yeah." (True)

"Can you tell me what happened around the time Midoriya left? Where he was going? Anything of note?"

- "The damn nerd probably went shopping. He's been drinking this cursed shake he calls 'life elixer'. He used to drink it during exam season in middleschool. Asshole must have run out of ingredients." (True)

"Do you know what's in it? Or why he drinks it?"

- "Tch. Energy drinks, coffee so concentrated it could kill a man, and those multiple hour energy things. He drinks it to stay awake when he's tired." (True)

"Why would he be tired?"

- "Why would I know! My best guess is because he rooms next to the Grape fucker!" (True)

"Okay. Last question, where were you when Midoriya left the building?"

- "I was helping Shitty hair study." (True)
