Misty didn't hate heights, but she didn't exactly like them either. She normally sucked it up if she was performing in one of her sister's water ballets, but she couldn't seem to find that same strength when faced with a roller coaster. Especially a roller coaster that claimed to be the fastest, most intense roller coaster around.

Misty could feel her hands shaking as she waited in line with Brock and Ash for their turn. Since they had first gotten in line, Ash had been blabbering on and on about the roller coaster and all the features it had. Two hours later, though-a complete was a waste of time for a one-minute roller coaster ride in Misty's opinion-Misty had yet to share the same enthusiasm as Ash. If anything, his facts had only made her more nervous. Thankfully, Brock had vetoed Ash's request to sit in the front of the coaster.

Finally, it was their turn. Misty sat down in her seat next to Ash before putting on her seatbelt and checking numerous times if it was secure enough.

"Are you scared?" Ash asked, a smirk on his face. Ugh, why couldn't she have sat next to Brock?

"No," she snapped, but her shaking hands and sweaty palms deceived her. "I'm just making sure it's fastened correctly!"

"They check these things every hour and do, like, a million safety checks," Ash replied. "If you're scared, you can hold my hand." Misty scoffed and Ash rolled his eyes. "Fine. Be that way."

"All set! See you in 1 min and 30 seconds!" The ride operator called. "Thanks for riding the Pidgeot!"

As the roller coaster slowly climbed up the first hill, Misty felt her heart begin to race. Closing her eyes, she reminded herself to take deep breaths, but the action did little to curb her growing anxiety.

"You ready?" She heard Ash say beside her.

In what was definitely torturous, slow motion, the roller coaster began to drop down the hill. With her eyes still closed, Misty reached out her hand in a panic, scrambling for anything to grab. Finding something solid to grasp onto, she squeezed Ash's hand and screamed.
