Mauve and Silver (Part 2)

Hey guys!

Yes I keep promises. I know, shocking right? But I am extremely sorry and this is my way to apologize to the people who waited.

Anyways Enjoy!

___

For the first time, she cried over a guy. Reyanna didn't know how she did that. She wanted to be with Hayden, more than anything she ever wanted to do. But he and she were not meant to be.

He was royalty and she wasn't made for it. She wasn't the woman she saw on TV a week ago. Her aura had class and sophistication. She looked elite and educated. While Reyanna was a normal, simple, pampered, Daddy's princess who didn't go to college because she thought working was a better learning process. And it all made her cry. She won't fit in.

When Reyanna's eyes opened, she saw was sleeping on the floor next to the door. Her eyes ached and her face was dry. Her phone showed the time as 4 am with a notification of 20 missed calls and 30 messages, all from Hayden.

She clicked the messages to read them.

'You must be the sun because you are the center of my universe'

'Your dad must be a thief because you stole my heart away'

'No offense to your Dad'

'The moment I met you, I just wanna be with you. That's all'

'Are you a deck of cards because you must be the queen of my hearts'

'Would you teach me how to swim? Because I am drowning in your eyes'

'Mario is red, Sonic is blue. Would you press start and be my player number 2?'

Reyanna cried again. She didn't cry because the pick-up lines were so horrible. She cried because she couldn't stop her heart beats from dancing at his texts. She cried because she missed him. She cried because she had started loving those stupid pick-up lines. She cried because she didn't want to leave London soon anymore. She cried because she rejected the only man she ever fell in love with.

'Stop it' She replied to his 30 texts.

It wasn't until 5:30 until when Reyanna decided she had to forget him. She had to move on in her life, and complete her assignment. She decided she would go back home, and help her mother with more, and more projects. She'll keep herself busy, and never think about Hayden again because it broke her heart every time she did so.

Hayden came three weeks before the wedding. It was awkward and miserable. He looked his usual dapper self while Reyanna looked like a sleep-deprived zombie. She could see he had moved on. He hadn't even tried to talk to her. Reyanna too ignored him as much as she could. It was so hard to keep her eyes off him when he had changed a lot, that too for better. He had an authoritative aura around him, and a look that said he was a royal. Anyone could mistake him for a King, that's how he looked. Reyanna was tempted at least 5 times a day to jump on him, kiss him senseless, and tell him how much she loved him. But then she stopped herself, confessing would mean leaving everything she loved behind, and she wasn't ready to do so.

When they all went to the dress fitting, Reyanna couldn't help, but see how good Hayden looked in his best man outfit. He had a silver tie with dark grey British suit. His broad shoulders looked more tempting than Mexican food.

Reyanna sighed and stopped herself, and went towards the bride's side of the store. Olivia was trying her wedding dress while her bridesmaids tried their own dresses. They all looked gorgeous in their respective dresses. The matron of honor, Katie would wear dark grey as well as the best man. The groomsmen were to wear light grey with violet ties and the bridesmaids would wear varied shades of purple.

When Olivia came out of the trial room, all eyes were on her. She looked absolutely breathtaking in the silver trail gown she wore. The bodice was a three-fourth sleeved combination of net and lace. The lace extended from the middle of her skirt. The hem had beautiful silver embroidery a and the long skirt had a huge trail behind it. It was one of the best wedding dresses Reyanna had ever seen.

After every woman and girl in the shop had gushed about how beautiful Olivia looked, while she changed back to her regular clothes. Reyanna had a look at Mark's suit as well. It was safe to say that his violet suit and Olivia's dress would be a combination to remember. The entourage decided to go and have lunch while Reyanna opted to stay back at the designer to finalize the fittings and the delivery.

Reyanna decided to find something for herself as well. The designer recommended some dresses to her the choices were in red, black, grey, purple and silver. She was looking at them putting them in front of the mirror while the designer attended the customers in the men's section.

"Are you Netflix? Because I can watch you for hours," A voice startled her and Reyanna jumped in surprise causing her to fall back, and her dress drop when a familiar pair of strong arms held her in place.

Reyanna didn't know what to do. Standing here in his arms was the only thing she wanted to do while their eyes stared at each other. His gorgeous face had stubble, hiding his killer jawline. His usually carelessly styled dirty blonde hair was now styled to perfection. Reyanna thought she stopped breathing when he leaned closer, but she regained her posture and pushed him back.

"You have to stop doing that!" She scolded him.

"I won't till you fall for me," He told her. Cheeky bastard. Still using pickup lines at her. First, he ignores her, and now he uses pickup lines.

"I won't so stop," Reyanna looked away.

"Reya..." He was saying, but then he turned away to leave. "Aah!" He suddenly winced, and Reyanna turned faster than lightning to see what happened to him.

"Are you okay? What happened?" She rushed to him keeping her hand on the top of his as he held his hand with another.

Reyanna hurriedly opened his palm to find the damage, but instead, she found a gorgeous ring.

She gasped and backed away.

"You are a thief, and a liar, Reyanna Natasha Valdez," He spoke, walking towards her as Reyanna backed away. "You stole my heart and lied that we didn't belong together. If we aren't shades of the same color so what? We are mauve and silver. We are here to stay and shine together.

"I.." He didn't let her speak.

"I know you are young. It's a decision you can't make so soon, but Reyanna, I have fallen head over heels for you the moment you called me a trashcan. It's weird, but you were still you when we were together and you knew who I was. You never changed, you still replied me with witty remarks on my pickup lines. It was a silly way to hold your attention, and I'm glad I did so," He smiled at her. "Every time you fall, I'll be there to hold you. Though I also wish you fall once...fall in love with me. Because I can't, even for a moment live without you. I tried doing that, but I can't. I love you, Reya and I want to spend my life with you," He confessed.

Reyanna blinked in disbelief. Hayden Lenox, the Duke of Devonshire just proposed to her. He confessed his love for her.

To add to her shock, and the butterflies, Hayden walked towards her. In a second, his arms cupped her face and he kissed her.

Fireworks.

That's what she felt. Fireworks erupted in her body, but before she could kiss him back, Hayden pulled away. She was still in a daze as Hayden picked the dress Reyanna dropped and placed it with the others. He analyzed the dresses kept on the rack. He picked two dresses, a purple and the silver one and walked towards a dazed Reyanna.

"If you wear purple in the wedding, I'll believe you love me too. If it's silver, then I'll understand you choose your comfort zone. I don't know what you'll choose, Reya, but believe me when I say that, I will respect and honor your wishes. Whatever they are," He told her in a serious tone.

He handed the dresses to her and turned to leave.

"I won't stop courting you until the wedding gets over," He faced her again with a bright smile and left the shop.

Reyanna sat down on one of the chairs with confusion and touched her lips. She smiled goofily. He was in love with her and wanted to spend his life with her. Hayden Lennox, the Duke of Devonshire wanted to marry her!

Her smile faded, what about their differences? Their different cultures? Will the world accept her as the Duchess? Will she fit in?

She had two weeks to think about it. She had to do it fast.

____

It was the end of the first week. Hayden did what he promised, he courted her. He showered her with gifts and sweet gestures that melted her heart.

He took her out for dinner and booked an entire section for them. He told her that he would keep it a secret until Reyanna didn't want them to be public. He made her laugh, listened to her problems, helped solve them, pitch ridiculously cute pickup lines at her. He made her blush all night. He kissed her too. But he didn't let her kiss him back.

Reyanna wanted to do that, but Hayden never made the kiss last longer. They were sweet pecks that stole her heart touch by touch. It was weird, but she liked it.

Her last week just a day before the rehearsal dinner, Reyanna didn't see Hayden the whole day. He was to be present for the speech rehearsal but he wasn't. The rehearsal got over smoothly, much to Reyanna's relief. She wondered where Hayden was, he didn't reply to anyone's calls or messages the whole day. To her surprise, Reyanna came home to find her Abuela and Hayden in the kitchen. Surprised by the sight, she dragged her Abuela out to ask what Hayden was doing here.

"He really loves you, Reya. He was here the whole day. Your grandpa approves of him. I think he is absolutely dashing and adorable. Don't come inside okay? I don't want you to ruin the efforts he's putting," She patted her cheek, and went back to the kitchen.

Reyanna stood there, as she was prohibited to come inside the kitchen. But she wasn't prohibited to watch from the entrance. Her eyes didn't leave Hayden as he stirred something, sprinkled spices, and cut vegetables. He was sweating a lot. Even though her Abuela's kitchen was air conditioned, Hayden was sweating was clear. His shirt was wet and so was his hair. He looked adorable when he would rub away his sweat with his dirty hand. It was hard for him to wipe the sweat and make food, but the struggle made her heart fill with bubbles of happiness.

Reyanna decided she couldn't stand him struggling, even though he looked adorable. She took a hand towel and walked towards Hayden when her Abuela went out of the kitchen after instructing him. She made sure she didn't peek at all.

"You're not allowed here," He was struggling with the sweat and the stirrer.

"I'm not peeking," Reyanna said. She held his face sideways, making sure it didn't distract him or burn him while cooking and wiped away the sweat gently. She even tried to dry his hair a bit. By now Reyanna was sure of one thing, she liked when he was sweaty. She had sweat fetish, sue her!

Hayden grinned at her and kissed her cheek lovingly. Reyanna smiled biting her lip and looked away. She had just shown him the first gesture of care. It felt good and she wanted to do more.

"You, miss, out!" Her Abuelo commanded coming into the kitchen.

"You prefer the Duke over me?" She pouted but her Abuelo raised an eyebrow. "Okay, okay. I'm out," She said and stood outside again.

Reyanna couldn't believe her Abuelo was taking Hayden's side. Apparently, everyone in her house was in love with Hayden, her dog, her Abuelos, the staff. Everyone including her.

"I'm done!" Hayden announced 15 minutes later.

The staff had already set the table with Reyanna. She made sure that everything was perfect. If she couldn't help in the kitchen, she would help outside. Hayden made her and her Abuelos sit at the dining table as he served them the food.

"I could never imagine in my life that a Duke would serve me food," Her grandfather looked amused.

"And I could never imagine seeing one in my kitchen," Her grandma chuckled.

As Hayden reached her, he kept a slice, which looked like stuffed bread, on her plate. He then served her with pasta.

"You made pasta?" She was surprised.

"Your Abuela told me you love Alfredo so I made this. And that's a different dish so do try and give your feedback," Hayden grinned.

He just called her grandmother Abuela! And it was hot!

"I'll eat when you do," Reyanna said taking the bowl from him and served pasta on his plate. "Sit," She ordered.

"Never thought I would get ordered around by a wedding planner," He joked, and everyone laughed before eating.

'I never thought I would fall in love with a Duke,' Reyanna thought.

She bit into her food and had to control a moan when she bit into the pasta because it was that good. She took a bite of the delicious looking cheesy bread and eyes widened. It tasted like fajitas, but it was something else.

Her Abuela must have told him that she liked Mexican food.

"This is better than anything I've tasted. Abuela put it on your blog," Reyanna told her grandma.

She just shook her head.

"It's not my recipe. It's the Duke's," She told her. Reyanna gaped at Hayden who smiled sheepishly.

"You are a gourmet cook as well?" She asked.

"Well 5 years of University teaches you something," He grinned. "I really am a great cook!" Hayden exclaimed and Reyanna shook her head and continued eating.

If she hadn't totally fallen in love with him now, Reyanna was sure she was now. He was a Duke and a cook! He looked delicious while sweating and he loved her truly, what more can a girl ask for?

When it was time for him to leave Reyanna went to see him out. It was warm now, not as warm as Barcelona, but pretty warm. She was back to wearing her dresses and culottes without overcoats and socks. Hayden now too was seen in a casual shirt in jeans. To be honest, the look suited him more than those serious and royal clothes he often wore.

"Thanks for the dinner," She thanked him.

"In return for the dinner, I hope you selected your dress," Hayden smiled. Before she could reply, he pecked her lips. It was over before it started.

Reyanna was getting frustrated by his one-way gestures. She wanted to kiss him back so bad!

Hayden backed away and sat in his car. Reyanna wanted to stop him, but she decided against it. She still had to make up her mind.

When she went inside, Reyanna went straight to her Abuelos.

"I think I have made a decision.... and I need your help," She announced.

_____

It was the day of the wedding. Reyanna was at the venue before anyone. She won't see Hayden until the reception. She had time. When she saw the preparations were done at the church, Reyanna told Beth to supervise the wedding while she was at the glass shelter they used for reception at Olivia's house garden.

There was going to a lot of paparazzi, courtesy to the royal and noble guests.

When Reyanna looked at the decorations, she felt proud of herself. She had even instructed the cameramen on what pictures to click and what not to. She had made it clear what all moments were to be captured, nothing should be left.

When the people started coming, Reyanna made sure she was behind the scene. Her heart was beating as she saw the entourage approach. Hayden looked yummier than she had thought originally. God, she wanted to jump at him right now.

'Control your hormones, Reya', she told herself.

After the speeches were done by the best man, bride's father, groom's mother, and one of the bridesmaid. Reyanna decided to show herself to the party. She was ready now as she let the DJ announce the cake cutting.

Through the earpiece, she ordered the caterer staff to bring in the grand violet and silver layered cake as she stood in the middle of the DJ floor. She backed away as the guests came towards the cake with the newlyweds.

As Mark and Olivia cut the cake, Reyanna's eyes looked for a certain Duke.

"Looking for someone?" The voice that had made her sleeping a punishment startled her.

She jumped in surprise. Her foot came in her dress and she slipped. Before she could fall, those arms held her by her waist, and she clutched his sleeve tightly.

"You have to stop doing that!" She scolded him, but he didn't say anything. Just kept quiet and steadied her.

"Alright," He said and with that, he walked away towards the lawns out of the reception area.

"Hey!" Reyanna ran after her Duke. What happened to him? Why did he look so....detached?

"Stop!" She shouted, but he was too fast.

Reyanna took off her heels and held it in one hand and ran towards the Duke who was getting away.

She overtook him and stood in front of him.

"What happened? Where do you think you are going?" She asked him.

"Leaving," He said coldly.

"But why?" She asked him. She was utterly confused right now.

"Because you are wearing silver," He stated and Reyanna looked down at the dress she wore.

" Ay caramba! Eres mucho estúpido!" She facepalmed.

"Now you are making fun of me in Spanish!" He looked angry.

"I said you are stupid, and you are blind! The dress is lilac with silver embroidery, you fool!" She exclaimed.

Hayden looked at her with wide eyes. Clearly surprised by her words.

"It's true when they say guys are color blind," Reyanna rolled her eyes at him. "You know there are certain colors which do not look quite right from afar, but when they mix, they create beauty in their own way," Reyanna quoted her Uncle Kai. "The lilac and silver symbolize that I agree to your proposal, but I won't leave my comfort zone as well," Reyanna explained. A slow smile appeared on Hayden's face.

"You mean you..." She didn't let him finish.

"It means that I love you too, idiot. How can you say I'll leave my comfort zone when my comfort zone is you?" She stepped forward. He was much taller, but Reyanna wasn't intimidated by looking up in his eyes. "You are the reason I started liking this place. Cold is not so bad when you are around. You make snow fun for me. You make me grin like a mental woman during snowfall, I mean even my twins won't believe it. I even picked your classy vocabulary now. If I am a thief then you are one too! You stole my heart and refused to give it back. You irritated me with those ridiculous pickup lines, but made me fall in love with them as well. How can I say no when I have no reason to. You're my best friend and I can't be comfortable without you. Duke or not, you are the King of my heart," Reyanna finally said.

Hayden was grinning from ear to ear now.

"I wanted to do it for a long time now," Reyanna finally said after a moment of silence. Hayden was just grinning.

"Do what?" Hayden asked with a huge grin and a confused look. It was a dangerous combination. He looked even better if that was possible.

Instead of replying, Reyanna grabbed his collar, pulling him to her level before kissing him full on the lips. Unlike Hayden, she let him kiss her back as much love. When they pulled away Reyanna smiled at him and got back the love clear in his eyes.

"You know when a penguin finds a mate, they never them go," Reyanna stated, "Will you be my penguin?" She asked.

Hayden laughed before holding her by her waist and spinning her. Reyanna laughed with joy. When he put her down, he kissed her. This time she kissed him back and he let her.

So it was true Mauve and silver didn't go together according to the world. They might not fit in until you blend them with love. Love makes mauve and silver perfect for each other.
