"This is stupid!"

The Royal Wizard Alphys winced at the sound of glass breaking. Captain Undyne of the Royal Guard was furious.

"He has served the royal family for all his life! He's earned her hand! But no, she has to marry him!"

The subject of her fury was the news of Princess Frisk's recent engagement to King Chara, despite the feelings between her and Sans, a loyal knight of the court.

"I-I know it's st-stupid Undyne, bu-but it's for the good of the kingdom!" She stammered. The lizard stopped at the sudden noise.

Sobbing was what met them before said princess burst into the room. Frisk was a mess, unlike how she was usually a happy, put together girl.

"Alphys, you have to help me! I can't have two husbands!"

Undyne froze. The two women stared at the princess. Alphys released the flask she was holding, the glass shattering. Finally, the captain spoke.

"You're married?!"

Frisk nodded, wiping a tear away. "A few days after the campaign a few months ago."

-_-

"Thank you for leading this attack." Asgore said. Sans, the Judge of Souls and one of the most powerful knights, nodded. He kept his sockets on Frisk though, a blush on her cheeks.

There was more praises and such, then the court was dismissed, everyone retiring for the night. Sans waited until his princess had slipped away before following after her.

Inside the garden, Frisk hurried eagerly to his arms. "I missed you." she whispered in his embrace.

"I missed you too."

She smiled, kissing him. "Marry me?"

"Of course."

Undyne and Alphys stared at the princess. "A few days later, a priest married us and was paid to keep the whole thing a secret." Frisk explained. She had calmed as she told the story, but burst into tears now. "A-And I-I can't betray him. No-Not like this!"

"Okay then." Undyne said, standing up. "We gotta convince King Asgore that you marrying Chara is a bad idea. But how...?" She grew lost in thought.

"Well." Alphys interrupted. "I-I do ha-have an ide-idea."

Sans felt his grip tighten on the hilt of his sword. Asgore and Chara sat in a meeting room, bartering over Frisk. The human male had so far silently threatened the monster so that he got Frisk for a price that was less than her true value.

"FATHER!"

He didn't have to look to know it was Asriel. Sans could hear the sobbing.

"What is it?" Asgore asked.

"M-Me and Frisk were in the gardens, talking about the wedding, when this huge dragon came and picked her up! It told me to tell you that whoever rescues Frisk has to marry her!"

"Well," Chara said, standing up. "That should be an easy challenge."

Turns out, after Chara came back- massively burned- it wasn't.

"Let me go." Sans pleaded later. Even though nobody knew it, Frisk was his wife. He couldn't leave her there.

Asgore sighed. It was true that Sans was loyal to the court and the royal family, his virtue well known. He had been about to marry Frisk to Sans when Chara had threatened war. "All right."

Almost nobody was surprised when Sans rode back, Frisk- dress a little scorched but otherwise unharmed- clenched to his chest.
