Midnight Parade | {K.TH}
Taehyung had called you to meet him and without even explaining anything, he hanged up. It was too sudden that you couldn't do anything and he was already at your doorstep to pick you up.
You gave him the longest stare and he just gave you his usual toothy grin.
"What are you up to?" you asked him suspiciously.
He grabbed your hand and pulled you forward. With his sparkling eyes, he answered, "Just follow me."

You don't really trust Taehyung and his weird ideas but he had never done anything too insane so you just let him drag you to wherever he planned to bring you. It had been a few years since the two of you had started dating.
What started off as an accidental encounter blossomed into a beautiful relationship. You had celebrated your first anniversary. Currently, heading to second and Taehyung had never been so thankful towards you for staying with him.
You started hearing music and saw a few bright lights ahead. You looked at the back of Taehyung who was focused on going to the place.
"What is it, Tae?"
Taehyung glanced back and grinned.
"Something remarkable!"
He stopped in his tracks when the two of you reached an old abandoned house. He was about to enter when you squeezed his hand.
"I have never said anything about your plans but this is a really bad idea."
He laughed and shook his head, "Don't worry. We are not here for hunting ghosts or anything."
"It may be something worse."
"Just trust me."
He opened the door and the two of you entered the place.
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
You really didn't expect to end up in a totally different place after entering the house. You expected a dark place with dusty broken furnitures. However, you were out in the open where the festival was being held. You had never heard of anyone talking about a festival.
"Where are we?"
There was something really strange about this place. Everyone had their faces painted in colour and just gave out a eerie vibe.
"The carnival! We need to watch the midnight parade. It's something we can't miss."
"Midnight parade?"
He just chuckled and took you to various stalls and it was getting creepier. The people had smiles like cheshire cat and the things they sold were out of the world.
You tried your best to prevent yourself from getting bumped in this really crowded place. You made sure you were really close to Taehyung who was too excited to notice you struggling. You managed to reach and tug Taehyung's sleeve to slow him down and he did so that you could catch up and walk beside him.
"Tae, I seriously don't think this is a good-"
You were about to collide into the person who was walking to your direction but he just went right through you. Your eyes widened and you turned to Taehyung who avoided your eye contact.
"What in the-"
He quickly covered your mouth and took you aside so that he could speak with you.
"Don't cause a scene here," he whispered softly.
You slapped his hand away and glared at him.
"What do you mean by that?! Where are we and what exactly is this? Some ghost festival or something?"
"Why? Is there something wrong with all these?"
"There is a line to everything. I'm a human and I shouldn't be getting involved with people from the other world," you snapped and then quickly realised what you had said. You looked at Taehyung who flinched upon hearing your words. You cleared your throat and folded your arms as you turned away. "It better not bring me any harm."
You could tell that Taehyung was having his usual toothy grin when he hooked his arm around yours and snaked to intertwine fingers with yours.
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
Everything was like a normal festival, except for the fact that you were the only human there. The two of you soon arrived at the area where people were standing to wait for something to happen. Taehyung pushed his way through and made you stand in front.
"The main event! The midnight parade is here!" Taehyung exclaimed and let go of your hand. "Stay here and watch."
He ran to the side and you stood there confused. It was then the drums were hit and the trumpets were blown. Your head immediately turned to direction of the sound and saw people in outstanding costumes walking down the lane.
Everyone started applauding and you guessed it was appropriate to join the clapping. The crowd was getting tighter that you were about to get squashed in between but then, they were spirits so you ended falling onto the ground.
"Sorry," one of them apologised and you gave him a small smile as you shook your head to tell him it was fine. You got back onto the feet and found him staring at you.
"Yes?"
"You are a human, right? You are really lucky."
"Why?"
He gestured at the parade.
"Those walking down there worked really hard to meet their loved ones who are in this world. It is really hard to connect with the livings unless your hearts are in sync."
You watched Taehyung with make up on and his clothes were changed so that he looked like the Phantom of Opera. He turned to smile at you and bowed. You couldn't help but smile and bow back at him.
"Is that your lover?" the person beside you asked.
"Yes."
"It must be his last day."
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
The parade ended and you went to the tent where Taehyung was removing his makeup. He gave you a huge grin when he saw your reflection in the mirror. You took a chair and sat down in front of him to help him get rid of the makeup which he failed to remove.
He held your hand to stop you from continuing and you noticed that tears had already rolled down your cheeks.
"I'm sorry," Taehyung muttered softly as if he didn't want to break you and you shook your head.
"It's not your fault. I knew I would have to face this but- but I didn't expect it to be today."
"It had been years since we had been married but it had also been years since I had a car accident and we met again as a human and ghost."
You gulped down as you tried to prevent yourself from completely breaking down. You clenched onto his sleeves for support but you noticed that it was getting harder to hold onto him because he was slowly disappearing.
"Don't go," you choked on your words and Taehyung wrapped his arms around you.
"Thank you for accepting me again. These two years had been a blessing. I'm sorry for meddling with your life."
"No... It was a blessing for me too."
"I need you to move on now. I know it will be hard but I was really devastated when I met you again. I wished I had never left the world without a proper goodbye."
You nodded your head and he brushed his fingers against your cheeks to wipe the tears away. His cold touch managed to warm your heart like always.
"Taehyung, am I the reason you are not able to reincarnate?"
"No. You are the reason I exist. It's because you believe in me. Now, I want you to believe in yourself. I will obviously continue to live in your heart but I want you to live happily in this world without me."
You finally had the courage to look into his eyes and he still had those sparkles. Those pretty lights that brightened his eyes whenever he looked at you.
"Okay. I promise."
Just like that, Taehyung gave you one last kiss before he completely disappeared and you woke up again.

🐍's Note: To my 🌼
I'm really sorry for not updating properly. I had been running out of ideas and time is just not being on my side. Plus, SNAKEUSHOTS HAS REACHED 5K.
I'm really thankful for that. I'll try to come up with the 5K special as soon as possible. Seriously, none of these would be possible without you readers.
Anyways, I think this one might've been a bit confusing but to put it short, Taehyung is your husband who had passed away after a car accident and is the ghost who appeared in your dreams.
I hope that helped to make the plot easier to understand.
I'll try to come up with better plots which are easy to understand.
Anyways, thank you so much for reading!
Love you all!!
❤️❤️❤️
