Letters To Santa | {M.YG} (Christmas Special)

You placed your pen down after finishing the letter and signing off with your name at the end of it. You folded the brown paper and placed it inside the envelope which said ' To Santa '. You reached for the wooden box and opened it. You placed the letter inside where many older letters were kept.

You had been writing to Santa since you learned how to do so. You had met him before but no one believed you.

Back then, you still remembered it clearly, you were just four when you were crying because you got lost in the park after playing hide and seek with your friends. You met Santa and he was a boy in his mid twenties, wearing that red santa hat and oversized sweater with a cute reindeer print. You didn't believe he was Santa until he proved it to you by making snow fall and brought you back home safely. When you turned to thank him, he was already gone.

You often asked your parents to send those to Santa when you were younger and seeing you still being a child whose dreams could go from being a Disney princess to being the ruler of the galaxy, they went along with your little play. However, they failed to notice that you actually believed in what you were doing. So, reality hit you hard when you found your letters in the drawer of your parents' room. You were eleven then and your parents tried to tell you that Santa didn't exist but nothing can change you from the fact that you saw him.

Knowing how your parents react strangely every time you tried to bring up the letter, you kept all of those in that box of yours instead of sending them away because you didn't know where to do so. It continued to pile up until today when you decided to bring those with you.

Carrying the box in your hand, you headed out in the cold to the only post office that was opened despite the holiday season. You were twenty and you knew people would think you are crazy. However, you stood in front of the counter where a man with soft wavy blue hair sat lazily as he dozed away. There were barely any other people queuing up so you put the box on the counter and knocked softly.

"Where to?" he asked. Unlike his face, his voice was rather deep. You cleared your throat and fiddled with the ends of your sleeve as you muttered softly under your breath. "Santa."

You noticed his expression changing as he slowly turned to look at you. You guessed that he was going to laugh at you so you quickly grabbed the box.

"Forget what I said," you told him but he grabbed your hand to stop you from leaving.

"You still believe in Santa?"

You nodded your head.

"Look, I'm sorry. I know I'm being childish and-"

The person just took the box and started filling in some sort of form. You blinked your eyes as he passed it to you, along with a pen.

"Just sign there and the..," he paused as he opened the wooden box. His eyes sparkled and his lips curved up into a smile. "The letters will be delivered."

You looked down at the form and read everything that was written there.

"Is this some kind of a joke?"

"I thought you were the one who wanted them sent to Santa."

"Yes but Santa doesn't exist."

"Anything exists as long as you believe in them."

His words seemed too good to be true but you were quite reluctant to hand those precious letters to him. You flinched when he let out a sigh.

"You came all the way here so why are you being hesitant now?"

You thought of it for a while. It's not like those letters would go anywhere even if it was still kept close to you.

"You're right," you agreed and signed the form. "Please send it safely."

"With pleasure."

It was already late at night, about five minutes to midnight when you heard something hitting against your window. Being a lite sleeper, you woke up and got off your bed, heading straight to the window where you pulled the curtain. Your eyes widened when you saw that same blue haired boy, clinging onto the building.

"What? Are you trying to break into my house or something?"

He rolled his eyes.

"If I am trying to break in, would I be knocking the door? That is some well mannered robber then."

"Then, what are you doing here?"

"Can't you see? I'm delivering the presents."

Now that you looked at him, he was wearing a santa hat but that was not convincing enough. However, you did take notice of that oversized sweater with the same reindeer print. Still, you guessed that it could be purchased anywhere.

"What present?"

"Can you at least open the window? I don't think I can hold on any longer."

"You are a suspicious person."

"Okay, you can call the cops if I do anything you don't like so please open the window. It's freezing and I don't want to die, falling off from the window."

Even though you didn't want to open the window for this suspicious looking man, you still didn't want to see someone dying right in front of your eyes. You opened the window and he immediately jumped in, brushing the dust off his clothes.

"So, you still live in the same room," He walked around and studied the place fondly. He grinned when he spotted pictures of you when you were younger. "You really had grown big!"

"Okay but do you know me?"

"Yes, I do and you know me too."

"I don't think so."

"Yes, you do. We met this morning and sixteen years ago."

"Sixteen years ago? No, stop lying. You read my letters, didn't you? How could you do that?"

"Because I am Santa? Look, I am Min Yoongi, the Santa in charge of this district. I am an employee of that post office. Santa can't go starving for days although we get paid quite a huge amount of sum which is enough for the entire year. "

"Are you trying to say there are other Santas?"

"Well, there are hundred and nighty five countries in the world. You don't suppose one person to be able to send all the presents all around the world in a day, do you?"

"Makes sense but it still doesn't mean you are the Santa from sixteen years ago."

"And here we go again. How do you want me to prove it to you?"

You smiled, "Like the way you did sixteen years ago."

You noticed how his eyes lit up and his lips spread into a smile.

"With pleasure."

He pulled your hand and guided you to the window where the sky was filled with stars. He snapped his fingers and nothing happened.

"What is this?"

He chuckled and gently pulled you along with him out of the room. Soon, the two of you were standing outside and you wondered why nothing was happening. Maybe you got your hopes up too high.

"It's your wish, right? To meet me again under the first snow fall," he spoke sweetly.

It was as if on cue, the snow started falling from the sky and you couldn't help but look up at the breathless view. The place started to be coloured in white and you couldn't help but smile when it was really snowing.

"You are real! So, it's really true. It wasn't a dream or anything. You are really real."

"Yes, I am. Thank you for believing in me."

You grinned at him and continued admiring the snow.

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

After a while, he planned to leave to continue delivering his presents to the rest of the houses.

"Can you wait for a minute?"

He nodded his head and stood there while you went up the stairs. After grabbing the thing you were searching for, you headed down again. You stood before him and reached to wrap a blue scarf around his neck.

"Sorry, I don't have red scarf to match your outfit."

"Anything you give me is lovely. I'll treasure it. We will meet again when we get to see each other."

You hummed happily and waved at him as he left.

Christmas came and you ran to the tree where the presents were sitting. You found the ones from your parents and an extra one with no name attached. You held it in your hands and ripped it open.

Inside was a red scarf and a letter.

You felt butterflies in your stomach as you read the letter. You couldn't help but smile as your cheeks burned slightly. You ran up the stairs to your room and grabbed a pen and paper. You started writing down to reply to the letter that you had received.

Holding the letter in your hand and red scarf wrapped around your neck, you called out to your parents to tell them that you were heading out for a while. The snow continued to fall slowly, painting the place with pure white colour.

You entered the post office and went straight to the counter where the blue haired boy wearing a blue scarf dozed away at his seat.

"Can I send letter to Santa for next year?"

He peeked at you when he heard your voice and grinned.

"Absolutely."
