You scanned the files that had been added to the pile of papers filled with records for the recent incident that had shook the city. Being a Detective was hard when the world was filled with crimes that could never die down and the case that had occured recently had made the police department busy.
It was a strange occurrence. Not one that people could make sense to. Young women had been disappearing these days and they were last seen at night. Many reports had been filed and yet, no progress was made.
You let out a sigh and massaged your temple. You needed a break from reading so you got up and left to get some coffee.

You headed to the new branch a few streets away that had opened a week ago just when the case started. You went there daily since the case had been handed to you. It could've been a coincidence but it was still your job to find out any linkage to the case.
Till now, there was none or was there always?
You waited patiently in the long queue that stretched until the other end of the street. Most of the other customers were young women like always.
You finally managed to get to the counter after about thirty minutes. Your eyes flicked at the barista who was handing the completed order to the customer before attending you.
"Hello again, doll. The usual?"
You hummed as you tapped your fingers on the counter to the beat of the pop music that was playing from the radio. Your eyes were dropping and you were too tired to speak. He chuckled and turned around swiftly to make your order.
Kim Seokjin - a young handsome barista who had recently opened a cafe in the town. The night after the cafe was opened, girls started to go missing. The most suspicious person was him but there was no valid evidence to support the fact.
He arrived back at the counter and passed you the cup.
"Enjoy, doll. Don't be too hard on yourself."
You smiled as you admired his eyes. Those deep eyes that held stories that you wanted to know. You wondered how much longer it would take for him to just confess and close the case.
"It's my job to catch and for the criminal to hide," you smirked.
He chuckled softly as you went to the side so that he could take the order of the other customer who was behind you.
"Sounds like a game cops and robbers would play," he sang after passing the order to the customer. He stood in front of you with his elbows plopped onto the counter and his chin laid on top of his knuckles.
You took a sip and leaned towards him.
"Your coffee tastes as good as always," you complimented him.
He got closer to you and whispered into your ear, "And you smell as good as always."
You backed away immediately and glared at him. He laughed with his hands up in the air. You let out a sigh and tugged your hair behind your ear. You held the cup in your hand.
"Thanks for the drink, Seokjin."
You left before he could say something. You wanted to hide your flushed face away from him.
He's gorgeous for sure and it would be a lie to say that you didn't have hots for him. Him knowing you were a detective did bring you to a disadvantage but you knowing his secret put him to his place.
However, it was still not easy.

Time flew by fast and it was already night. You were still stuck in your department, studying the cctv tapes where the missing women were last seen. It was the same street and a man wearing a black cap.
His face couldn't be clearly seen and the next spot was a blind spot so you couldn't catch anything. You groaned in disappointment. You checked the time and decided that you should just head home.
You kept everything away and strapped your bag across your body. You made sure to close and lock everything before leaving the place.
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
The cold wind blew gently and the street lamps shone dimly just enough for one to see the street. You looked up at the last cctv in the corner and then glanced down at the alley. You went down the road and ended up at the shop that you were way too familiar with.
It was Kim Seokjin's cafe which still had lights on this late at night.
You clenched onto the strap of your bag and inhaled deeply before sneaking into the cafe. You decided to go through the staffs' only section of the cafe where there was surprisingly another room which had a storeroom written on top of the door.
Your hand reached to turn the door knob which was luckily not locked. You entered and the place was dark so you patted the wall to find a switch.
You turned the lights on and your eyes widened. You let out a scream and fell onto the ground when you saw what was inside.
You were too shock to realise that someone was already standing behind you. By the time you turned, you were knocked out.
The last thing you heard was a mellow voice that you knew.
"Beautiful things are always curious, aren't they, doll?"
••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••
You slowly opened your eyes and found yourself in the dinning room. You were tied tightly to the chair. You tried to escape but failed to do so.
You whimpered slightly as your head ached.
"Sorry, doll. I didn't mean to hit you that hard."
Seokjin walked in casually with a glass of water. He placed it against your mouth and pushed it harshly so that the water slid down your throat. You choked and he placed the cup away.
He sat down before you with a dish filled with food that you might end up puking just by seeing what it contained.
"So, what brought you here?"
"Why are there dead bodies in that room?"
"Did you plan to order a cup of coffee?"
"When did this started? Why did you do that?"
"It won't take long for me to make a cup for you or are you hungry? I can make one for you real quick but I'm not sure if it's your taste."
"It was you, wasn't it? Kim Seokjin."
He smiled warmly.
"You knew from the start so why are you asking me questions now, doll?"
"Stop sprouting nonsense. How would I know about you?"
"It's not like this is the first time you saw this," he cut the meat and crunched it deliciously. "We were more than just strangers. I would be sad if you had forgotten about me after the memories we had shared."
That was correct. Of course you knew who he was and you wanted to stay away from the case as far as you could. However, you were given the responsibility and you couldn't bring yourself to speak the truth no matter what.
The fact that the culprit was your ex boyfriend who happened to be a cannibal.
"The memory which you ate a woman right in front of my eyes?"
"That was not planned. It's not really my fault that those butterflies kept following me around and I just happen to be very hungry at night."
You bit your bottom lip.
"So, doll, are you done playing Detective? I'm pretty sure you brought your friends along, didn't you?"
He was still as observant as ever.
"They will arrive in a few minutes," you told him without breaking eye contact with him as he headed over to you.
He knelt down and looked at you like he always did. His eyes were always filled with warmth and love for you.
"And?"
"You should run if you wish to."
"Should I?"
"That's a decision you need to make."
He hummed and stood up. He took his time to walk over to you. His footsteps and your heartbeat were the only things filling up your ear.
"I bet you taste delicious, doll."
You turned away when he placed his hands on the arm rest and leaned in so that your faces were almost touching.
He got closer to you and his lips crashed against yours. He cut the ropes and your hands flew to hold him.
The passionate kiss was broken when loud police sirens were heard.
"Thank you for the meal," he smiled sweetly at you as if you weren't the one who had led him get caught.
"I'll just get arrested, doll. I would still get a proper meal even if they cage me. Although, dead corpses don't really taste delicious."
You didn't really know what to say. You would be seeing him every now and then but it still stung to know that he still loved you despite you running away from him out of fear.
Who in the right mind would stay with a flesh eating person?
The policemen arrived and cuffed his arms. He was calm even in such a situation. You watched him being taken away and swallowed your saliva thickly as you stopped him for a moment.
"Why didn't you eat me?"
He chuckled as if you had just asked something funny.
"Love makes you do weird things, doll."
