i have to write a novella as my final/midterm for creative writing and i have a concept:

it's set in an urban fantasy world where witches (both male and female) must practice their craft in secret. magical creatures also have to hide.

it's about a guy called a witchmaster, which is pretty much a really powerful witch that doesnt really belong to any coven. hes kinda a hermit and makes money by selling spells (which are less "flashy magic attacks" and more of combinations of herbs and stuff embedded with magic)

one day he comes home to find a young naga laying on his porch, finding shelter in the aura that surrounds his house. the naga attempts to attack him, but the guy realizes hes just an orphan kid.

our main character decides to take him in, but he finds himself completely confused, since friendly relations between magical creatures and humans are unpresidented and frowned upon. meanwhile, hunters are also searching for magical creatures to slay since theyre a "menace"

he decides to start writing his own field guide to caring for magical creatures, figuring it out along the way.
