Chapter 99- The Battle Of Hogwarts : The Loss Begins
"There isn't any way to get down there," Hermione says to me, "they have the cloak."
"We can risk it," I say to him.
"It's worth the risk," Ron says quickly. I sigh.
"Fine," I say to them. Fred pulls me towards him and smiles tracing along my back to keep me calm.
"Until Harry gets back we need to keep an eye on the cup," Hermione orders and I nod.
"Fine," I groan. I back away from them and lead Fred over to one of the chairs. Hoping that we could enjoy some time together. He settles in the chair and I climb onto his lap. "I love you Fred."
"I love you more," he says. I smile and push back his wild ginger hair. It had grown during his hiding. Yet because he was still with his mother, meaning it was tame enough to keep her at bay. His warm smiling and hand tracing along my spin helps calm my growing nerves.
"So many things can go wrong," I say to him, "and I just want you to know how much I care if something happens to me." He takes my hand and I met his eyes.
"Nothing will happen," he says, "you and I are golden doll. We'll make it out of it. Okay?" I could tell he was partially convincing himself too. But with the current mood I keep my mouth shut.
"Alright," I say to him and I press my forehead against his.
"Good," he says.
"Well well well," I hear a bold voice say. I look up from Fred to see Blaise standing before me. His arms folded and smirking at me. "I see you moved on." I smile jumping up from Fred's lap and wrapping my arm around him. He hugs me back.
"God Zabini I'm surprised you didn't get yourself killed," I chuckle pulling back. I smirk slightly and he rolls his eyes. "Malfoy hasn't ratted you out yet?"
"The boy loves you too damn much to do any such thing," Blaise says.
"Oh Zabini I remember hearing about you," Fred says standing to join the conversation.
"Weasley," Blaise says extending his hand out for Fred to shake. Clearly this action takes Fred by surprise. But Fred takes it anyway. "It's a pleasure to meet you Fred."
"You know my name?" Fred asks.
"From Y/n," Blaise says, "I knew she had a thing for one of you twins. She filled in the rest of the blanks."
"Alright," Fred says and looks to me, "have you always had a thing for me?"
"Shut it," I snap then look back to Blaise, "Spy work?"
"Of course," He says, "Draco's not here. He got stuck at the manor during Easter."
"I know," I say to Blaise, "his aunt used got a little too friendly with her curses on me."
"She has no block," Blaise says, "so what's with the Dragon. Is that true?"
"Of course," I say to him, "we had to break into Gringotts. Special task."
"Good. Cause here I thought that you were running away out of fear," Blaise says, "this stuff really helps your reputation."
"Not that she needed much help," Fred chuckles. I scoff.
"This is about what good for the Wizarding world," I say to them, "not about me."
"Yeah yeah of course." I look around to see the more of the familiar faces filling the room. As the rest of the Weasley's join us I rush towards Molly hugging her immediately.
"Awe Y/n dear," she says patting my back. I smile happily. "You all right dear?"
"Of course," I say as I pull back and hug Bill and Fleur next.
"Fred's already found you i see," Bill teases and I crack a smile.
"Of course," I say to him. I look to them and notice now would be a good opportunity to move onto the chamber. With Harry's antics and the intruders. "Now I hate to leave after this short greeting but Hermione, Ron, and I have some business to attend to." I pull away as Lupin joins them and move towards Ron and Hermione.
"Y/n good we were busting working on a plan to get down there," Hermione says.
"Forget it let's go now," I say to her. She raises her brows cautiously.
"We need a plan," She starts.
"Nope we know this school inside and out," I say to them, "now we mustn't linger here. The longer we stay put the closer You know who is getting to us. And the things!" Hermione groans and stands relauntely.
"Fine," she says.
"Just like that?" Ron asks in disbelief.
"Come on Ronald," She orders. I smirk at him and join her as she marches towards the door.
"Harry, what's happening?" I hear Lupin say meeting him at the foot of the stairs.
"Voldemort's on his way, they're barricading the school—Snape's run for it—What are you doing here? How did you know?"
"We sent messages to the rest of Dumbledore's Army," Fred explains. "You couldn't expect everyone to miss the fun, Harry, and the D.A. let the Order of the Phoenix know, and it all kind of snowballed."
"Let's go now," I say to them slipping out the exit with everyones attention on Harry. I pull them out and we rush quickly down to the abandoned girls bathroom. Right away Moaning Myrtle starts with her flirting.
"No Harry today? Pity," she says watching us, "I guess ginger will have to do."
"Hermione breath," I say on account of her tightly clenched fists. She groans stomping past the ghost.
"Oooo Ginger boy," Myrtle says fly by down to Ron. I roll my eyes and move past them to the sink.
"Which one was it again?" I ask over Myrtles loud giggling.
"This one," Hermione says pointing to the one she's beside. I move over and take a deep breath. Attempting to bring forth some of the unpracticed language.
"Usssa tebba uss," I say. Seconds later the sink draws back and the tunnels open.
"Well," I sigh, "there is no other way." We reluctantly slide down the tunnel remembering the harsh matter at hand last time we were here. This time is no different with the comparable grave danger.
"Parsel tongue no matter how much I hear it always sounds so strange," Ron says. I smirk at him as we move past the rubble from Lockhart's backfired charm.
"Parsel tongue sounds badass," I say to him, "besides some people find it sexy."
"Who?" Ron asks in disbelief. Miss disgust thinking his brother has such a thing for the snake language.
"It's not your brother," I say to him, "Fred hates it when I speak it since he can't understand."
"Men are funny like that," Hermione scoffs looking to Ron. I sense the awkwardness and move slightly faster. As we reach the open chamber we see the large skeleton of the Basalik.
"Wow," Ron says. The size was much greater than we could imagine. He and I never actually saw the being. We were stuck behind the rubble.
"Yeah," I say rushing towards it. "Come on!" They hastily follow behind. As we get to the large beast I climb into its hollow mouth and reach towards its fangs.
"Wait put something around your hand," Hermione cautions. I nod and pull back taking my jacket and wrapping the sleeve around my hand. Then I reach to the jaw and pull out on of the fangs. A loud crack sounds as I break it away. Hermione flinches harshly at the sound.
"Give me the cup," I say as I hold out my other hand. They hand it over and I place it on the ground before me. I get down on my knees dropping my jacket and taking the fang in my bare hands. Gripping it tightly then driving it into the cup. A loud screech echos in the room as a water starts to fill the room.
"Shit shit," I say as Ron pulls me up and we run away from the water quickly filling the room. As it moves it drenches us then draws back. I sigh in relief and look to see if the others are okay. But to my surprise see Hermione and Ron making out dramatically. "Damn alright." They pull apart and look to me as I smirk.
"I know that you are preparing to fight." I hear a loud hiss in my head and I fall down clenching my ears in pain. The harsh voice of Voldemort over takes my senses.
"Y/n!" Ron calls stepping towards me. But Hermione Lets our a blood curdling scream from behind him as she too falls down. "Your efforts are futile. You cannot fight me. I do not want to kill you. I have great respect for the teachers of Hogwarts. I do not want to spill magical blood. Give me Harry Potter, and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter, and I shall leave the school untouched. Give me Harry Potter, and you will be rewarded. You have until midnight." Suddenly the pressure and sounds causing my skull to throb disappears. I let out a shaky breath and look to Hermione.
"They wouldn't dare?" I ask her. "They wouldn't give Harry to him right?"
"We better move," she says. I help her up and we move quickly from the chamber. Running as fast we can towards the great hall. Upon getting there we see the students rushing around frantically.
"McGonagall!" I scream running towards her. She looks to us with her brows furrowed. "Where is Harry?"
"Why can't you kids keep track of each other?" She sighs, "he's looking for the diadem."
"Great," I sigh, "he could be anywhere." They sigh. "Wait here?"
"I'll go get brooms from the pitch," Ron starts.
"Ugh you have magic use it," I say to him, "Accio Firebolts!" After a couple seconds two fire bolts bust through the room. I take hold of one and Ron the other. "Hermione ride with Ron. You suck at flying anyways."
"Hey!"
"It's true," I say to her and start to board my broom.
"Wait!" I hear. I look to the source of the sound and see Fred running towards me. Quickly he pulls me into a deep loving kiss. "I love you," he says.
"I love you too." I say to him. He tucks a piece of my hair behind my ear and smiles before he rushes back off to his family.
"Can we go now?" Ron asks waving to his brother. I nod. We mount the brooms and take off. Searching for our closet friend Harry Potter.
"Where the hell have you been?" Harry shouts to us as we land.
"Chamber of Secrets," says Ron.
"Chamber—what?" Harry says, coming to an unsteady halt before them.
"We told you," I say to him slightly annoyed at his lack of memory to the situation.
"What the—?"
"We took the cup to the chamber and destroyed it. The fangs work! I have one and so do Ron and Hermione," I say to him.
"So..." Harry says struggling to keep up. "So..."
"So we're another Horcrux down," says Ron, and from under his jacket he pulls the mangled remains of Hufflepuff's cup. "Y/n stabbed it. Thought she should. She hasn't had the pleasure yet."
"Genius!" yells Harry.
"It was nothing," I say.
"So what's new with you?" Ron says as he says it a loud explosion echoes from over head.
"I know what the diadem looks like, and I know where it is," Harry says talking fast. "He hid it exactly where I hid my old Potions book, where everyone's been hiding stuff for centuries. He thought he was the only one to find it. Come on."
"Okay," I nod as we rush back through the concealed entrance into the Room of Requirements. The room was empty minus Tonks, Ginny, and Neville's grandmother. I rush towards Tonks and Hug her. "How's the baby?"
"Fine fine," Tonks says smiling and shows me a picture tucked in her robes, "look at your godson." I smile looking at the picture of the small baby.
"Ah, Potter," Mrs. Longbottom says crisply as if she had been waiting for him. "You can tell us what's going on."
"Is everyone okay?" Ginny asks.
"'S far as we know," Harry says. "Are there still people in the passage to the Hog's Head?"
"I was the last to come through," says Mrs. Longbottom. "I sealed it, I think it unwise to leave it open now Aberforth has left his pub. Have you seen my grandson?"
"He's fighting," Harry says.
"Naturally," says the old lady proudly. "Excuse me, I must go and assist him." With surprising speed she trots off toward the stone steps. Harry looks at Tonks.
"I thought you were supposed to be with Teddy at your mother's?"
"I couldn't stand not knowing—" Tonks looks anguished. "She'll look after him—have you seen Remus?"
"He was planning to lead a group of fighters into the grounds—" Without another word, Tonks speeds off.
"Ginny," Harry says, "I'm sorry, but we need you to leave too. Just for a bit. Then you can come back in." Ginny looks simply delighted to leave her sanctuary. "And then you can come back in!" he shouts after her as she ran up the steps after Tonks. "You've got to come back in!"
"She's not coming back," I say to him.
"Hang on a moment!" Ron says sharply. "We've forgotten someone!"
"Who?" asks Hermione.
"The house-elves, they'll all be down in the kitchen, won't they?"
"You mean we ought to get them fighting?" asks Harry.
"No," Ron says seriously, "I mean we should tell them to get out. We don't want any more Dobbies, do we? We can't order them to die for us—"
"Yeah that's a good idea," I start as Hermione drops everything and launches towards Ron. Kissing him passionately.
"Is this the moment?" Harry asks weakly, and when nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione grips each other still more firmly and sways on the spot, he raises his voice. "OI! There's a war going on here!"
"People are dying and you two are making out? For shame," I say smirking at them, "you must love an audience."
"I know, mate," Ron says, who looks as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger, "so it's now or never, isn't it?"
"Never mind that, what about the Horcrux?" Harry shouts, "D'you think you could just—just hold it in until we've got the diadem?"
"Yeah—right—sorry—" Ron says. and he and Hermione set about gathering up fangs, both pink in the face.
"Yeah," I say to them in a matter of fact tone, "keep it in your pants." After they clean up the mess we step out from the room into the hallway.
"Let's hope he steps on some of them!" Ron says as more screams echo from close by while Grawp stomps past.
"As long as it's not any of our lot!" We hear Ginny say. I smile at her as she sends curses to them bellow.
"Good girl!" roars a figure running through the dust toward them, we see Aberforth again, his gray hair flying as he led a small group of students past. "They look like they might be breaching the north battlements, they've brought giants of their own!"
"Have you seen Remus?" Tonks calls after him.
"He was dueling Dolohov," shouts Aberforth, "haven't seen him since!
"Tonks," says Ginny, "Tonks, I'm sure he's okay—" But Tonks sprints off into the dust after Aberforth. Ginny turns, helplessly to us.
"We don't have much time lover boy," I say to Harry.
"They'll be all right," says Harry, though we knew they were empty words. "Ginny, we'll be back in a moment, just keep out of the way, keep safe—come on!"
We follow the procedures of circling the patch three times until finally it re-reveals itself. As we step inside we see the things stacked all around us. All possessions that needed to be hid.
"And he never realized anyone could get in?" Ron says his voice echoing in the silence.
"He thought he was the only one," says Harry. "Too bad for him I've had to hide stuff in my time... this way," he adds, "I think it's down here..." we pass the belongings and pick up a old ring.
"All this junk probably has some really cool stories." I say to them, "perhaps in the future we can learn about it."
"Accio Diadem!" cries Hermione in desperation, but nothing flew through the air toward us. It seems that, like the vault at Gringotts, the room would not yield its hidden objects that easily.
"Stop trying that it never works!" I hiss thinking back to the countless failed attempts with the summoning charm.
"Sorry at least I'm trying," she scoffs.
"Let's split up," Harry tells the us. "Look for a stone bust of an old man wearing a wig and a tiara! It's standing on a cupboard and it's definitely somewhere near here..." I split from them and walk quietly down the aisle looking for the crown like object. The next aisle over I hear voices.
"That's my mothers wand you're holding, Potter," Draco says. I sneak from my aisle to behind them.
"Not anymore," pants Harry, tightening his grip on the wand. "Winners, keepers, Malfoy. Who's lent you theirs?"
"My mother had a spare," Draco says.
"So how come you three aren't with Voldemort?" asks Harry.
"We're gonna be rewarded," says Crabbe. "We 'ung back, Potter. We decided not to go. Decided to bring you to 'im."
"Good plan," says Harry in mock admiration. My attendance hidden by the three boys In front of me. I wait for something to help Harry.
"So how did you get in here?" he asks, trying to distract them.
"I virtually lived in the Room of Hidden Things all last year," says Draco, his voice brittle. "I know how to get in."
"And you still can't take off a bra. I'm disappointed Malfoy," I chuckle. All three boys turn to face me now. A huge smirk across my face. "Not that Crabbe or Goyle even know what that is."
"You have my wand?" Draco asks. I roll my eyes.
"That's how it seems Malfoy," I say clutching it and raising it to point at his throat. "Unlike Harry I have no remorse for you three."
"Descendo!" Crabbe says point his wand to the stack of lost things.
"Protego!" I call shielding Harry from the blast.
"Ron!" Harry screams as the other stacks tumble and crash.
"You heartless beast!" I scream at the death eaters before me. Crabbe points his wand to the tower behind me and my eyes widen in fear.
"Finite!" Draco screams and it steadies. "No!" He quickly back tracks. "If you wreck the room you might bury this diadem thing!"
"What's that matter?" Crabbe says tugging himself free. "It's Potter the Dark Lord wants, who cares about a die-dum?"
"Potter came in here to get it," Draco says with ill-disguised impatience at the slow-wittedness of his colleagues, "so that must mean—"
"'Must mean'?" Crabbe turns on Draco with undisguised ferocity. "Who cares what you think? I don't take your orders no more, Draco. You an' your dad are finished."
"Harry?" shouts Ron. "What's going on?"
"Harry?" mimics Crabbe. "What's going—no, Potter! Crucio!"
"Stupefy!" I say just barely missing Crabbe.
Harry had lungs for the tiara; Crabbe's curse misses him but hit the stone bust, which flew into the air; the diadem soars upward and then dropped out of sight in the mass of objects on which the bust had rested.
"STOP!" Draco shouts at Crabbe, his voice echoing through the enormous room. "The Dark Lord wants him alive—"
"So? I'm not killing him, am I?" yells Crabbe, throwing off Draco's restraining arm. "But if I can, I will, the Dark Lord wants him dead anyway, what's the diff—?"
"Don't you do your homework you twit," I mock.
"Stupefy!" Hermione yells hitting Crabbe.
"It's that Mudblood! Avada Kedavra!" The two of us dive and it misses. I shot a stunning spell at the boy and it hits home to little affect.
"Don't kill him! DON'T KILL HIM!" Draco yells at Crabbe and Goyle, who were both aiming at Harry.
"Expelliarmus!"
"Avada Kedavra!" Someone screams. Ron leaps out of sight to avoid the jet of green light. The wandless Malfoy cowereds behind a three-legged wardrobe as Hermione charges toward them, hitting Goyle with a Stunning Spell as she came.
"It's somewhere here!" Harry yells at her, pointing at the pile of junk into which the old tiara had fallen. "Look for it while I go and help R—"
"HARRY!" she screams I look to see it all biting around us.
"Aguamenit!" I scream and the water floods over the flames. "Run!" The flames weren't put out. Instead chased us like a sentient being.
"What can we do?" Hermione screams over the deafening roars of the fire. "What can we do?"
"Here," Harry says tossing us brooms. We climb onto the brooms. My eyes scan the room once I get in the hair. I couldn't let them die. I couldn't leave them to burn in these monstrous flames. Out of pure luck I see Draco's bright hair holding Goyle's unconscious body. Without thinking or warning I dive into the flames grabbing ahold of him.
"What are you doing you idiot?!" Draco screams at me.
"Saving your ass like always," I chuckle attempting to pull him and Goyle onto my broom.
"Y/n!" Harry yells diving down to help.
"IF WE DIE FOR THEM, I'LL KILL YOU BOTH GOT THAT YOU TWO!" roars Ron's voice. He dives towards us and helps Harry pull Goyle on his broom while Draco climbs on mine.
"The door, get to the door, the door!" Draco screams as we follow the others to the door. The black smoke fills my lungs. As my eyes scan over the burning items below us. The sparkling diadem sticking out against the hot flames.
"Harry get it!" I scream at him. He dives as I speed towards him.
"What are you doing, what are you doing, the door's that way!" Draco screams clutching my hips tightly.
"We've got to do this Malfoy," I say to him, "unlike you. I want this all to end." As Harry quickly grabs the diadem we speed towards the door barely escaping. Draco falls from my broom onto the ground coughing loudly. I push back his blackened hair from his face.
"C-Crabbe," Draco says as soon as he could speak. "C-Crabbe..."
"He's dead," Ron harshly says. Draco's eyes show a flicker of pain. Sure they weren't the best friends. But after Blaise and I left him. That's all he really had.
"I'm so sorry," I say to Draco as he sits up. My hand resting on his. Harry clears his throat from behind me as to point out the inappropriateness of the situation.
"Where's Ginny?" he says sharply. "She was here. She was supposed to be going back into the Room of Requirement."
"Blimey, d'you reckon it'll still work after that fire?" asks Ron, but he too gets to his feet, rubbing his chest and looking left and right. "Shall we split up and look—?"
"No," Hermione says, getting to her feet too. I pull my hand away from Draco's and stand. "Let's stick together. I say we go—Harry, what's that on your arm?"
"What? Oh yeah—" he flashes the burnt diadem at us. It looked ruined.
"It's destroyed," I say to him, "meaning Crabbe had to use Fiendfyre."
"Sorry?"
"Fiendfyre—cursed fire—it's one of the substances that destroy Horcruxes," Hermione says, "but I would never, ever have dared use it, it's so dangerous—how did Crabbe know how to—?"
"Must've learned from the Carrows," Harry says grimly.
"Shame he wasn't concentrating when they mentioned how to stop it, really," Ron says, whose hair now had blacked singed parts. "If he hadn't tried to kill us all, I'd be quite sorry he was dead."
"Ronald!" I snap at him looking to the two boys laying on the ground. Wandless and gasping for air.
"But don't you realize?" whispers Hermione. "This means, if we can just get the snake—"
But her voice was overshadowed as a loud screams of duelling fills the hall. We all look to see Percy and Fred battling two masked death eaters.
"Hello minister!" Percy bellows hitting him with a jinx. "Did I mention I'm resigning?"
"You're joking, Perce!" shouts Fred as the Death Eater he was battling collapses under the weight of three separate Stunning Spells. Thicknesse had fallen to the ground with tiny spikes erupting all over him; he seems to be turning into some form of sea urchin. Fred looks at Percy with glee.
"You actually are joking, Perce... I don't think I've heard you joke since you were—"
The air explodes as I tried to move towards the redheads. The blast sending us all through the air flying. Panic sets over me as I cover my eyes and prepare for impact of the ground. Soon the sharp pain of hitting the ground with full force spreads through my core. Finally after the dust settles and the ringing in my ears stops I slowly sit up. The heard of gingers crowd in a circle. As I stand and make my way towards them I start to realise how bad it might be. Until I see the bleeding rubble covered body ahead of me.
"Fred!" The voice comes out of me in a blood curdling scream. All of my stamina pushing me to run towards him. As my eyes settle on the boy I love under the rubble bleeding profusely my heart drops leaving me with an empty gut feeling.
"No—no—no!" someone was shouting. "No! Fred! No!" The closer I get I see it's Percy. I help the third oldest Weasley free his brother from the rubble. Once freed Percy shakes the twin harshly. I feel the air leave my lungs as the water fills my eyes. I couldn't breath. I reach and place my hand on Fred's cheek.
"Freddie please," I say starting to sob, the ghost of his laughter still on his face. His eyes open and staring up while a weak smile lays on his face. "please don't leave me. We were supposed to get out of this. Have a life. Please." Beside me Ron falls at the side of his brother. I fall laying across him while Percy does the the same.
"Get down!" Harry shouts, as more curses flew through the night. Harry pulls me up as I clutch Fred's body.
"I'm not leaving him!" I scream at them. Percy whimpers with me. Harry successfully pulls me away and attempts at Percy.
"Percy, come on, we've got to move!" he shakes his head. "Percy!" I hold my face as I sob looking to the boy I loved laying lifelessly as his blood pools around him. Ron attempts to pull Percy off but Percy remains. "Percy, you can't do anything for him! We're going to—" I hear Hermione scream and look to see one of Aragog's spider descendents now infutrating castle.
"Let's move now!" Harry says pulling Freds body up. Percy let's go thankfully and we run from the spiders. Finally reaching a spot where we could peacefully lay the body down. I collapse beside it much to Harry's dismay. Sobbing softly into the body. My face buried in his chest waiting for something. Either a hope that he would show any signs of remaining life or someone to take my life with his.
"ROOKWOOD!" Percy screams before darting into the battle of curses where the culprits of the murder would be. While Hermione restrains Ron from rushing after Percy. The death of Fred causing all of us to be uncontrollable. Leaving Hermione and Harry frantic to get the situation under control.
"Im sorry Freddie," I say to him, "I was an awful girlfriend I left you alone during this. But my mind never left you. I love you so much."
"Y/n," Harry says placing a hand on my back as my arms wrap around Fred's body pulling him towards me. Scarlet dripping from his body.
"Listen to me—LISTEN BOTH OF YOU!"
"I wanna help—I wanna kill Death Eaters—" Ron demands.
"We're the only ones who can end it! Please—Ron- Y/n—we need the snake, we've got to kill the snake!" Hermione says.
"I don't care anymore," I sob feeling empty throughout my body, "he was all the good I have left. It's hopeless. They put number us. Over power us. We're all going to die."
"I want to kill them," Ron hisses.
"We will fight!" Hermione says. "We'll have to, to reach the snake! But let's not lose sight now of what we're supposed to be d-doing! We're the only ones who can end it!" Harry kneels beside me.
"Snap out of it," Harry says forcing me to look at him instead of the body, "we need you to hold yourself together. You know Fred would hate you doing this. He loved you to damn much to let you throw your life away. So get up and fight through this so we can end this and avenge him." I look down and wipe my eyes. Then give one last look to Fred. I lean over his body and push back his wild ginger locks. Placing a soft gently kiss on his forehead.
"I love you doll," I say to him softly. My eyes brimming with tears again. I wipe them again and stand up. "Fine, I'll fight. But I don't know if I can handle anymore lose."
"You need to find out where Voldemort is, because he'll have the snake with him, won't he? Do it, Harry—look inside him!" Hermione says looking to Harry in desperation. Harry looks across us then closes his eyes to give it a shot. After a minute or two his eyes open and we all look on waiting for something.
"He's in the Shrieking Shack. The snake's with him, it's got some sort of magical protection around it. He's just sent Lucius Malfoy to find Snape."
"Voldemort's sitting in the Shrieking Shack?" Hermione says in obvious outrage. "He's not—he's not even fighting?"
"He doesn't think he needs to fight," Harry says. "He thinks I'm going to go to him."
"That and he's a bastard," I say crossing my arms in anger. The sadness slowly switching to feeling anger
"But why?"
"He knows I'm after Horcruxes—he's keeping Nagini close beside him—obviously I'm going to have to go to him to get near the thing—"
"Right," Ron says squaring his shoulders. "So you can't go, that's what he wants, what he's expecting. You stay here and look after Hermione, and I'll go and get it—"
"You two stay here, I'll go under the Cloak and I'll be back as soon as I—"
"How about I go get it?" I ask him.
"No," Hermione says, "it makes much more sense if I take the Cloak and—"
"Don't even think about it," Ron snarls at her.
"Ron, I'm just as capable—" the tapestry at the top of the staircase on which we were standing rips open.
"POTTER!"
