Chapter 49- The Third and Final Task
I sit beside Ron and Hermione at lunch waiting for Harry. Apparently he had been pulled off for some champion thing. "These exams are killing me-" I groan.
"I've resorted into making things up," Ron says, "who were the- Mum--Bill!" e look around to see Mrs. Weasley and Bill sit down beside us "What're you doing here?"
"Come to watch Harry in the last task!" Mrs. Weasley brightly says, "I must say, it makes a lovely change, not having to cook. How was your exam?"
"Oh... Okay, " Ron says, "Couldn't remember all the goblin rebels' names, so I invented a few. It's alright, they're all called stuff like Bodrod the Bearded and Urg the Unclean; it wasn't hard." Fred, George, and Ginny join us at too. Making this all feel like those great times at the burrow.
"Are you going to tell us--?"Hermione shakes her head warningly and glanced at Mrs. Weasley.
"Hello, Hermione, " Mrs. Weasley says, "Y/n."She was much more stiffly than usual.
"Hello, " Hermione says her smile faltering at the cold.
"Hi Mrs. Weasley," I say. She eyes Hermione and I.
"Mrs. Weasley, you didn't believe that rubbish Rita Skeeter wrote in Witch Weekly, did you? Because Hermione's not my girlfriend," Harry says.
"And Y/n's not going around with all of us leading us on," Ron says, "you didn't believe that right?"
""Oh!" says Mrs. Weasley "No--of course I didn't!"
"Yep," I tell her, "I'm a one man gal. Not however many Rita made me out to be."
"Oi Y/n," Someone calls. I turn around to see Blaise.
"Whats up?" I ask him. He waves me over.
"Draco wants you," Blaise says. I nod and turn back to the group at the Gryffindor table.
"I'll see you guys later!" I exclaim. I grab my things and head over to the Slytherin table to meet the worried Blond. "Whats wrong Draco?"
"The Weasley's are like your family right?" He asks. I nod.
"They are my family at this point," I correct, "Why?"
"I don't know," He mumbles, "just curious."
"Okay," I say. He takes my hand and stands up.
"Can we go for a walk?" He asks. I nod. He leads my away from his goons and through the halls. "I have a question."
"And I might have an answer," I say. He rolls his eyes and looks down.
"Listen I know you aren't the biggest fan of my dad," He says, "but I want you to meet my mother. She means more to me than my father and I want her to meet you."
"Are you asking me to meet your parents?" I ask him.
"Well yeah," He says, "I love you and I want them to know you."
"Draco thats so sweet," I tell him.
"Just think about it okay?" He asks. I nod.

I stand beside Bill and Draco, separating the Weasleys and the Slytherins to keep the peace while we watch them set up for the task. "Oh this is so exciting! We'll have a winner after this!" I squeal. Draco clutches my hand tightly as he
"Ladies and gentlemen, the third and final task of the Triwizard Tournament is about to begin!" Bagman announces, "Let me remind you how the points currently stand! Tied in first place, with eighty-five points each--Mr. Cedric Diggory and Mr. Harry Potter, both of Hogwarts School!" The cheers and applause was so loud birds fled from the trees. I, like the Weasleys, was cheering louder than humanly possible. "In second place, with eighty points--Mr. Viktor Krum, of Durmstrang Institute!" More applause. "And in third place--Miss Fleur Delacour, of Beauxbatons Academy!" We politely applaud for Fleur. She was trying her best. It was lame, but it was her best. "So ... On my whistle, Harry and Cedric!" Bagman says, "Three--two--one--" The whistle blows and the boys both start running into the large hedge maze.
"GO HARRY!" I scream loudly. Next Bagman sends of Krum, then Fleur. All we could hear was cheering and yelling. Both making this extremely nerve wracking seeing as we couldn't see a thing.
"This seems the most dangerous," Draco says.
"Its just a maze," I hear Theo say.
"Yeah but its the last task," I tell them, "meaning its bound to be the most trying." A spark shots from the maze to the sky making me jump. "Hermione?" I ask down the line of gingers.
"I don't know," She shrugs, "I think- He wouldn't-"
"Harry I swear my promise is still out there!" I scream, "if you die I'll murder you!" I was screaming just to scream. He couldn't hear me and we didn't know what was happening. It was the worst. The familiar sound of a portkey zips through the air and Harry lands on the ground, one hand clutching Cedric, the other the cup. "Harry? Cedric?" I ask as I watch. Cedric seemed stiff, pale. "Whats going on?" I ask them all. People applaud and cheer as Harry lays over Cedric sobbing.
"He's dead," Bill whispers, "Cedric is dead." The applause and band slowly stops as people rush down to him.
"He's dead!"
"Cedric Diggory! Dead!"
"What?" I mumble feeling tears brim in my eyes, "he can't be- thats absurd. They wouldn't let someone die!"
"Y/n-"
"He can't be died," I whisper. Dumbledore helps Harry up but he can't hold up his own weight and fumbles. "Is Harry okay?"
"What's happened?"
"What's wrong with him?"
"Diggorys dead!" People were yelling and whispering. I pull away from Draco and run down the stands to see Harry over Cedric's lifeless body.
"He's back. He's back," Harry sobs, "Voldemort's back." I could feel my heart stop. There is no way. How could he be back. "Cedric, he asked me to bring his body back. l couldn't leave him, not there." Dumbledore leans down and clutches Harry's face in an attempt to calm the boy.
"Keep everybody in their seats," Fudge yells, "A boy has just been killed."
"The body must be moved, Dumbledore," Someone says.
"There are too many people," He says. I
"Let me through. Let me through! Let me through!" Amos Diggory, Cedric's father, yells, "That's my son! That's my boy!" He sobs falling to the ground, "lt's my boy!" Amos wails as Dumbledore attempts to pull me back. I couldn't hide the tears falling from my eyes.
"Come on," Draco mumbles as he takes my hand and leads me towards the herd of Weasleys. I turn to Draco and tighten my grip on him sobbing into his arms. How many kids have to die? How many innocent people have to die?
"It makes no sense," I mumble as I clutch his shoulders. He rubs my back as he sighs.
"Bad things happen," He says, "bad things always happen. But for this one bad things a millon good things will happen."

The next few days were a haze, much like the days following Micheal's death but not nearly as bad as Micheal's death. We all went the routine of grief. Cedric Diggory was a good kid. He was smart, nice, charming. He was a good friend and deserved to live a long happy life. But yet, he died at 17, "Kill The Spare." Harry had unloaded the story in bits in pieces through bits of crying and overall suffering. Voldemort was back, and another body added to the death toll of a power hungry pathetic arse.
Everyone was hit hard by his death, his parents were a mess, Harry wanted silence around him at all times. The Hufflepuffs were all in tears, and poor Cho had kept away from everyone. Locked inside the Ravenclaw tower.
The final meal of the year underway as Dumbledore sighs loudly. "The end, " Dumbledore says, "of another year. "He paused, and his eyes fall upon the Hufflepuff table. Theirs had been the quietest I have ever seen. He stands and looks around at the sad faces of the hall. "There is much that I would like to say to you all tonight, " Dumbledore says, "but I must first acknowledge the loss of a very fine person, who should be sitting here, enjoying our feast with us. I would like you all, please, to stand, and raise your glasses, to Cedric Diggory. " We all stand raising our glasses to the sky mumbling his name. Sadness radiating from everyone. Even the Slytherin table was respectful and calm. They had even stopped teasing and sit aside differences during this time. We sit down as he continues, "Cedric Diggory. Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities that distinguish Hufflepuff house, He was a good and loyal friend, a hard worker, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all, whether you knew him well or not. I think that you have the right, therefore, to know exactly how it came about. Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort. " Panicked whispers sweep the Great Hall people looking around in disbelief and horror, "The Ministry of Magic, does not wish me to tell you this. It is possible that some of your parents will be horrified that I have done so--either because they will not believe that Lord Voldemort has returned, or because they think I should not tell you so, young as you are. It is my belief, however, that the truth is generally preferable to lies, and that any attempt to pretend that Cedric died as the result of an accident, or some sort of blunder of his own, is an insult to his memory. " Everyone's eyes on Dumbledore, hanging to every word. I hear whispering in my right ear and I turn to see Draco whispers to Crabbe and Goyle.
"Guys please," I whisper back Respectfully they cut it out and turn back to the front.S
"There is somebody else who must be mentioned in connection with Cedric's death, " Dumbledore goes on, "I am talking, of course, about Harry Potter. Harry Potter managed to escape Lord Voldemort. He risked his own life to return Cedric's body to Hogwarts. He showed, in every respect, the sort of bravery that few wizards have ever shown in facing Lord Voldemort, and for this, I honor him." The whole room, minus some stubborn Slytherins, stand raises their glasses. I kick Draco and Blasie forcing them and Theo to stand. Now was not the time to protest or argue. "The Triwizard Tournament's aim was to further and promote magical understanding. In the light of what has happened--of Lord Voldemorts return--such ties are more important than ever before," Dumbledore says, "Every guest in this Hall, will be welcomed back here at any time, should they wish to come. I say to you all, once again--in the light of Lord Voldemort's return, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemorts gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight it only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open. It is my belief and never have I so hoped that I am mistaken--that we are all facing dark and difficult times. Some of you in this Hall have already suffered directly at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Many of your families have been torn asunder. A week ago, a student was taken from our midst. Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory."

I sit beside Ron in the ledge as we wait for Harry and Hermione. Soon they join as and Ron chuckles. "Do you think we'll ever just have a quiet year at Hogwarts?" Ron asks.
"No," Hermione giggles.
"No," Harry says.
"No, l didn't think so. Oh, well," Ron says.
"Hey well have great stories to tell our children," I say. They chuckle and Ron elbows Harry.
"What's life without a few dragons?" Ron asks. We hop down and start to walk off only to see Hermione lingering.
"Whats up Mione?" I ask her.
"Everything's going to change now, isn't it?" She asks. Harry walks up to her and pats her shoulder as he nods.
"Yes," He says. She nods and Rejoins us.
"Promise you'll write this summer. All of you," Hermione says.
"Of course," I tell her, "I need someone to talk to that isn't a ginger."
"l won't. You know l won't," Ron says.
"Harry will, won't you?" Hermione asks him.
"Yeah. Every week," Harry says as we chuckle.
"If I don't get a letter Potter well fight," I tell him.
"And you don't have good chances after that fight she had with Pansy," Ron says.
"Guess I'll be writing then," Harry says.

My hand tightens Draco's as we walk to the train station together in silence. It wasn't an awkward or angry silence. Just peaceful and understanding. "I'll meet your parents," I tell Draco, "but you have to come and officially meet the Weasley's."
"Alright," Draco says, "but thats not a fair trade."
"How?" I ask.
"You only have to meet one person, maybe two," He says, "I have to meet a whole fucking clan!" I chuckle and kiss his cheek.
"It will be fine," I tell him. I hug him as we reach the train. "I love you."
"I love you too."
