Chapter 13 - You Ever Travel By Floo?

"Right. Here we are, Harry. You go first, dear," Molly says. We were gathered by the fireplace. My wallet clutched in my hand.

"But Harry's never traveled by Floo powder before, Mum," Ron says.

"Floo powder?" Harry asks in utter confusion.

"You go first, Ron, so that Harry can see how it's done. Yes. In you go. That's it," Molly says. Ron steps up grabs a handful of powder and steps into the fireplace. He tosses his powder down and yells.

"Diagon Alley," He yells. He disappears with the green flames.

"You see? It's quite easy, dear," Molly says, "Don't be afraid. Come on. Come on. In you go. That's it. Mind your head." Harry steps inside, "That's right. Now, take your Floo powder. That's it, very good. Now, don't forget to speak very, very clearly."

"Diagonally," Harry says and disappears with the green flames.

"-What did he say, dear?" Molly asks.

 "Diagonally," Mr. Weasley says.

"I thought he did," She says, "here Y/n you go next." I step up and inside the fireplace and grab a fist full of powder.

"Diagon Alley!" The green flames transport me to the good old Diagon Alley. I see Ron with his sot covered face and punch his shoulder playfully.

"Where is Harry?" He asks.

"Diagonally," I say, "he misspoke."

"Yikes," He says. Soon the rest of the Weasley's had joined us and we went inside the book shop. I collected my books and Micheal's. Who had sent me his letter. And grabbed a spot in line for check out. Which went quickly since everyone else was here to see Lockhart.

"Thank goodness. We'd hoped you'd only gone one grate too far," Molly says as I join them and see Harry. He was covered in dust and sot.

"Guess its good we can easily spot you," Hermione says to me. She had grown a bit. Everyone had. We all slightly had grown into our features.

"Guess so," I say.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Gilderoy Lockhart."

"Here he is," Molly says excitedly.

"Mum fancies him," Ron says. She smacks his arm and I roll my eyes.

"My father told me stories about him," I say, "said he was a tool."

"He is not!" Ginny says.

"Excuse me, little girl," A guy with a large camera says, "This is for the Daily Prophet." He snaps a picture of Lockhart.

"It can't be. Harry Potter?" Lockhart says looking at Harry.

"Harry Potter!" The reporter says. He pushes Harry by Lockhart and holds up his camera. "Nice big smile, Harry." Harry gives a weak smile. Not really wanting to be up there.

"Together, you and I rate the front page," Lockhart says, "Ladies and gentlemen, what an extraordinary moment this is. When young Harry stepped into Flourish and Blotts this morning...to purchase my autobiography, Magical Me...which, incidentally, is currently celebrating... its 27th week atop the Daily Prophet bestseller list...he had no idea that he would, in fact, be leaving...with my entire collected works...free of charge. Now, ladies?"

"Harry, now you give me those," Molly says as he walks back to us. He hands them over, "And I'll get them signed. All of you wait outside. That's it." As we walk out a spot the blond haired boy I was waiting to see. He had kept his promise of writing all the time. And we grew pretty close because of that. Like super close.

"I'll bet you loved that, didn't you, Potter? Famous Harry Potter. Can't go into a bookshop without making the front page," Draco says. My heart sinks. His first thing to do is insult one of my best friends. I move to step up but Ginny beats me to it.

"Leave him alone," Ginny says.

"Look, Potter. You've got yourself a girlfriend," He teases.

"Draco," I say trying to get him to stop.

"Now, now, Draco, play nicely," A blonde man says hitting Draco's shoulder with a cane, "Mr. Potter. Lucius Malfoy. We meet at last. Forgive me." He pulls Harry closer to him and uses the snake part of his cane to reveal Harry's scar, "Your scar is legend. As, of course, is the wizard who gave it to you."

"Voldemort killed my parents. He was nothing more than a murderer," Harry says pulling away from the man.

"You must be very brave to mention his name. Or very foolish," Lucius says.

"Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself," Hermione says.

"And you must be Miss Granger. Yes, Draco has told me all about you. And your parents. Muggles, aren't they?" Lucius says, " Let me see.Red hair, vacant expressions......tatty, secondhand book. You must be the Weasleys."

"And why are you talking to us?" I ask harshly, "we seem to not be the ones you actually enjoy spending your time with."

"And Miss Cultven. Your hair gives you away. Along with that same edge your mother had. Wheres that filthy disgrace brother of yours at?" He asks almost mocking me.

"You fil-" I feel a hand go over my mouth and someone grab my arm. Preventing me from speaking or moving. I look to see it was Fred. He knew what I was going to say. While George was helping him keep me back. For a small girl. They knew I could kick some ass.

"Children! It's mad in here. Let's go outside," Mr. Weasley says.

"Well, well, well. Weasley senior," Lucius says.

"- Lucius."

"Busy time at the Ministry, Arthur, all those extra raids? I do hope they're paying you overtime...but judging by the state of this, I'd say not. What's the use in being a disgrace to the name of wizard... if they don't even pay you well for it?" Lucius asks. Clearly only here to start drama.

"We have a very different idea about what disgraces the name of wizard, Malfoy," Mr. Weasley says.

"Clearly. Associating with Muggles. And I thought your family could sink no lower. I'll see you at work," Lucius says.

"See you at school," Draco says.

"Draco wait," I say finally. Seeing as the twins let go of me. I grab his sleeve and he looks back.

"We'll talk later," He says, "I promise." I sigh and let go of his arm and watch as he slides away.

"10:58, come on. The train will be leaving any moment. Fred, George, Percy, you first," Mr. Weasley says. "Ladies you next." I run through and quickly load my stuff on. And look through the compartments. I see Hermione perched with a book in hand.

"Enjoying your Christmas present from last year?" I ask.

"Of course," She says. I sit down across from her and spread out. "Where are the boys?" She asks.

"Not a clue," I say, "they were behind me."

"Y/n can I join you guys?" Ginny asks as she steps into the compartment.

"Of course," I say scooting over.

"You really are the good Slytherin," Hermione says.

"Sod off," I say.

Ah yes the good Slytherin nickname. It had been going along with my name since the Sorcerer's Stone thing. Not many Slytherins would do anything against Voldemort and on top of me being nice and accepting. Basically I was all the good aspects of a Slytherin packed in one. Now instead of everyone knowing me for the purple hair. They know me as the good Slytherin.

"Did you see Ron or Harry get on?" I ask.

"No," She says, "I was hoping you did."

"Great what did those boys do now."

*****

"Well I said later," I look up to see Draco standing at the door. The two other girls just roll their eyes.

"Lets find somewhere were there won't be a peanut gallery," I say. He nods and I grab his hand pulling him behind me. We go to the empty back of the train and finally stop. That is when he finally drops his usual smirk and actually smiles.

"Its nice to see you again Cultven," he says wrapping his arms around me pulling me in a hug.

"You too Malfoy," I say. He pulls away and we sit down.

"I'm sorry about my dad," He says.

"Its fine," I say, "what actually bothered me was you and Harry."

"Its just what I do," he says, "Sorry?" I roll my eyes and he wraps and arm around my shoulder.

I would be lying if I said I didn't have a crush on Draco. Or that this whole interaction had my heart beating out of my chest. That another thing. I didn't think it was a thing by Draco and I had been apparently Flirting in our letters. This was pointed out to me by a very annoyed Fred and George who both said and I quote 'You had to pick a guy who was the actual worst.' When I mentioned it to Ron he said, 'Bloody hell Y/n. Malfoy?!' Yep. I had no support from my friends. And as for family. Well Mikey had said that and I quote 'should stay away from that Dragon Boy.' Or later he stated, 'I would rather you date the twins. Or bloody hell anyone else'. After Ms. Claden had talked to him about it he finally decided on 'if you must.'

"My dad doesn't actually not like you," He says, "its just."

"My brother I know," I say, "but Mikey is all I have left of family."

"I know," He says, "my dad's just very. Set in stone. So am I."

"Well," I say, "I feel I can change that."

"Oh really?" He asks.

"I feel I can melt that layer of ice and get you to be the real draco to everyone else to," I say.

"Good luck with that," he says. Still with his arm over me.

"Its my personal mission," I say.

"You're strange Cultven," He says.

"I know," I say, "I have to get back to my seat we'll be there soon."

"I should probably go back to Crabbe and Goyle," He says.

"Bye Malfoy," I say.

"Bye Cultven," He says kissing my cheek. My heart flutters and my face goes completely red. While he just walks away. Stupid Boys.
