Chapter 103 - The Malfoy Trial

-all of these after story things will be shorter. And will slowly fill in the gaps between when the main story ends and the cursed child plot line-

As I stand in the back of the court room I hear the commotion at the front of the court room.

"Present your evidence for his guilt," the judge at the current trail says. They had multiple people on the cases of Death Eaters. I decided to drop into Draco's trail, submitting myself to testify.

"There isn't any," someone says, "he's a child. Barely of age and was influenced by his father."

"Draco was the one who attacked Dumbledore that night! He's as quietly as any other participant!"

"Actually," I say stepping forward into view. The crowd looks at me in awe at the fact of my presence. "At the time of Draco disarming Dumbledore he was still a student. And while he was apart of a scheme to kill the headmaster- he only disarmed him." I see Draco look up at me. Watching carefully as I move around. My heels clinking against the ground. "The most you can do with that is an expulsion from school."

"And why would we do that?" One of the wizards says harshly. I smirk as cross my arms crossing over into the chair.

"Because he's innocent," I say in a matter in fact tone, "you've only decided to charge the death eaters that were there after Harry's false death. The Malfoy's fled before them. Along with the fact that his parents were forced to bring him into this."

"None of them were apart of the scheme to kill Albus Dumbledore!" The wizard screams. I scoff.

"But they were in multiple other schemes. Including conspiring to kill me, Harry, and countless other children at Hogwarts," I explain, "some of which, Like Theodore Nott who had his trial early this morning you pardoned on account of his obvious parental manipulation."

"Are you claiming parental manipulation in this case?" Another witch gasps, "is that what you're saying."

"I'm saying that he did this against his wishes," I say to them.

"Aren't you biased since you were with him at the time of the incident!" The angry wizard claims. I tilt my head thinking on the thought.

"Actually I think it makes me the best to testify on his behalf," I say to them, "I mean think about it. I knew he more that anything else. I was the one who noticed him skipping meals and slipping up on school work. Draco lost apart of himself during that period of time. He still has lost that innocence he once had. Now it's not to say he is completely innocent. But the influence his father, who had been a death eater who failed at his task, would push him to it. Along with other forces."

"They threatened her life," Draco announces loudly finally speaking. The room falls silent and everyone looks from my argument to Draco. Finally I look to him to see his worn face. He was tired and bruised. They made him and his family remain in Azkaban until the trial. No matter how much I fought against it. So for the last couple weeks after the battle they waited in Azkaban awaiting trial while we put together the ministry and the rest of the wizarding world. They were wasting away. "V-Voldemort he threatened to kill her if I refused to go along with everything. I couldn't lose Y/n, I just wanted to keep her safe." My eyes widen but I maintain my unbothered expression.

"As you can see his very remorseful towards the subject," The witch defending him says.

"Besides before he ran he fought amongst the people at Hogwarts," I say to them, "he fought against the death eaters, and fled instead of rejoining them. He's certainly not innocent, but he's no murderer, I call that we pardon him. Letting him go back to school to finish his education and reintegrate him back into society. Allowing him to reintroduce himself as a respectable wizard."

"Well break for delegation," the judge says hitting the table. The wizards file out and I walk down towards the chair they were holding Draco in. As I reach him I cross my arms.

"That story was true?" I ask him, "I remember you saying something like that before. But it's true?"

"Unfortunately," Draco says softly, "I wouldn't have done it any other way."

"Fantastic," I say looking away and he looks to me. Holding back what he wants to say obviously.

"So um, where is that boyfriend of yours?" Draco asks and I scoff. Looking down at my nails.

"Dead," I say coldly. The spot was still sore, is an aching thought as I remember the cold sadness of the funeral. The actual funeral was a blur of tears and hugging. But the way his stone body was dressed up made it so much worse. Especially seeing as he and I barely got to be a real couple.

"Oh Y/n I'm so sorry," Draco says, "I didn't know."

"It's fine Malfoy, how would you know? You were in Azkaban," I say to him, "you had other priorities that the sufferings Of others." I turn around fiercely facing away from the attractive blond. "I'm only here to keep you alive. Don't get that wrong." I march off from the boy and back to the stands. Speaking to the small witch defending Draco.

"So the boy, a history I hear," The witch says. I chuckle.

"That's an understatement," I say to her, "old school boyfriend. We had promise rings and such. We thought it would be forever."

"Ah young love," she says.

"Except forever isn't a real thing," I say dryly, "and when he tried to kill my best friend I wasn't to happy with him."

"I'm sorry," She says as I sneak another look at Draco.

"Yeah, me too," I say.

"Oh we better get everything together," She says, "look they're coming back." I nod and take an actual seat this time around rather than dramatically pacing the room. As the council and judge fill in my nerves bubble.

"Please be good," I mumble under my breath, "please be good." As the judge sits down he stairs Draco in the eye.

"What you did boy was incredibly wrong," He says harshly, "every single detail of it you handled something in the wrong fashion. You are either incredibly idiotic or just very unfortunate. However, due to previous evidence and the case Ms. Cultven presented. Along with our letter from Mr. Potter. The only decision we can make is that you are pardoned from your guilt on the grounds you return to Hogwarts and stay away from any other Death Eater or Dark Magic organisations."

"Yes sir," Draco says happily.

"Then case closed. Draco Malfoy is innocent," The Judge says. I cheer loudly along with Draco and the team defending him. He meets my eye and smiles. For once I smile back.
