IT WASNT THE IDEAL night that the smaller boy had planned very quickly when laying in his hotel room and listening to the ravenettes really attractive voice through the phone. the lack of duck activity was really putting a downer on the night.

"this is a bust!" taehyung huffed and fell onto his back, not caring that his shirt might gets stains on it from the grass and dirt below him. all he cared about was the pile of torn up bread in front of the two and the lack of life on the lake. jungkook however, was having a good time despite the small hiccup.

"we still have beer." the younger noted, holding up his own bottle in cheers with no one in particular before taking a long swig.

"but the ducks!" taehyung stressed the point, "we were suppose to feed the ducks bread like an elderly couple." the frown on his face made his disappointment evident.

jungkook however was stuck on a certain word, "couple?" he repeated.

the silence made it clear that the brunette didn't even realize the word slipped at first. "you know what i mean." he blushed.

it was dark out, but he could still see the pink tint on the boys cheek. and it was also a little awkward now, but jungkook was always good at diverting things. he took a piece of bread and tossed it at the boy laying beside him, the corners of his lips twitching up into a smile at the surprised look on taehyungs face.

"hey!" he tried to glare as tough as possible, only earning an eye roll from the younger.

"you kind of look like a duck, i thought i'd feed you." jungkooks grin was cheeky, a laugh even escaping and disrupting the quiet night in the best way possible.

taehyung wasnt expecting the laugh, now or really ever. he always found jungkook so quiet and mysterious, it was nice to see him nearly smile let alone full on laugh. "that's mean!" he settled on replying with, he liked this jungkook, and he didn't want to mess it up by pointing out his good mood.

"it's not," the ravenette defended himself, lightly tossing another piece at the boy who just swatted it away with a pout. jungkook smiled again. "i happen to find ducks cute."

"is that your secret and mysterious way of calling me cute, kook?" taehyungs voice was quiet, almost sultry as he blinked slowly at the boy sitting beside, frozen in his spot as he stared at the pink lips from which those words left so softly.

it was silent for a moment, a good silence, the brunette didn't even know his heart was soaring and his body was leaning closer. jungkook however realized this very quickly, he couldn't decide if he was happy or angry about the way he was feeling — the flutter in his stomach and the panic in his chest as the only thing he could think of other than how pretty taehyung looked right now, was how he was lying to him.

"tae," he whispered quietly, said boy halting and looking up the meet those dark eyes staring intently back at him. "i have to tell you something."

taehyung was confused now, the nerves in his stomach settling but the curiousness growing. "okay."

the car ride after that was quiet again, not awkward or comfortable — just silent. jungkook didn't realize he was driving back to his apartment until pulling into the parking garage next door. the last time he was here, it must have been before he spent those long six months in a concrete room on his own.

"this is your place?" taehyung asked on the way up the stairs. his hand was clutching onto the back of the younger boys shirt, staring down at the ground and making sure he was taking the proper steps without stumbling.

"mhm." he hummed in response, shoving the key into the lock to open up his apartment. it was dark and cold inside, just the way he left it. a dirty mug even stayed on the counter with coffee stains in the bottom.

the lights were turned on soon after, illuminating them in yellow light just outside the small kitchen. taehyung looked around at the equally small place and let go of the boys shirt to walk further into the living room. jungkook looked over and ran a tongue over his bottom lip, "i know it's not as nice as the usual places you've seen."

"i like it." taehyung said, sitting down on the couch and running his hand over one of the decorative pillows. there was a giraffe on it. "it's homey."

he just hummed again, and taehyung noticed how that good mood from the park was gone. jungkook came walking over in long strides, those skinny jeans fitting him perfectly and the brunette did his best not to stare at his nice thighs because now was not the time.

no words were spoken once the younger sat down, just those onyx orbs staring at the pretty boy as if he could see his soul and countless thoughts with a single stare. taehyung became easily self conscious and tried to keep out any thoughts about how attractive the other was right now. "what did you have to tell me?"

jungkook smiled softly and reached up to lightly tuck some hair behind the boys ears. "sweetheart, how long have you been so sad?"

it was a hard question to hear. saying things out loud made them seem more real, and the stab of pain through his chest was unannounced after hearing those words. taehyung couldn't find the words, how could someone be barely knew tell he was in such despair, when no one close to him ever noticed themselves. not his father or his friends ever asked how he was, not even the bartender who's seen him close to tears many times during the late hours of night.

he just hugged him. their arms around each other while the smaller boy hide his face in the ravenettes chest, he smelled like cigarettes and a cologne he was starting to love.

"shh," jungkook rubbed the boys back and waited quietly until taehyung felt comfortable enough to speak up, only a few teardrops falling past his cheekbones.

"you're suppose to tell me something kook," taehyung sniffled, reluctantly pulling away from the embrace and looking up at the boy. "not say something to make me upset."

jungkook smiled softly and ran his thumb over his cheek to get rid of the stray tear. "i had to ask you. getting upset means i may have a chance at salvaging what we have once i do tell you this."

the worry set back in his stomach along with the swirl of butterflies in his tummy. all these emotions were very confusing and taehyung tried to latch onto one, and right now it was the palm on his thigh that relaxed him. "what is it?" he whispered, so softly that the younger barely heard him.

jungkook never felt conflict this strong before, usually he'd act without a second thought, because planning things was his specialty. but this, he had no way to interpret how the boy would react. there was no way to beat around the bush, to sugar coat the truth as it sat on the tip of his tongue.

so he stoned up his heart, rid his thoughts of all the nice things he thought about taehyung and the burning sensation of his palm against the boys thigh — be straightforward, one of the only things he's good at.

"i'm going to rob your fathers hotel."
