HIS EYES HURT from staring at the bright screen for too long. the apartment was dark since the sun set and no one was willing to get up and turn on a light. all three of them engrossed is their current assignment while sitting in a glow of computer screens and wide eyes trying to absorb as much content at once.
"jungkook," jimin said, his fingers kept typing as he looked over at his dark haired friend and craned his neck to see the numbers written on the notebook.
the ravenette just hummed and pushed the notebook over closer to the other boy who smiled in thanks.
"i'm going to call hoseok." namjoon said. he was leaning back against the couch lazily, a laptop propped on his thighs as he scrolled through his phone to find the contact name.
"i know a few people." jungkook mumbled, he was only half listening, more of his attention on the screen and the tabs open on a certain brunette and even more on the father.
namjoon glanced up, "i want hoseok."
"well i want him too anyways, so go ahead." jungkook shot back. as much as brothers they were, sometimes the level of leadership would cause some tension. the younger of course was in charge by it being his plan and unusual ability to plan such complex jobs, but namjoon ranked higher by nature and he would use that age difference when he could.
"hey!" jimin interrupted, "what if i want hoseok instead?"
"wait-" namjoon dropped his phone and looked at the shorter boy who feigned innocence. "do you really?"
"let's invite him over and we can find out." jimin smiled sweetly, but a playful wickedness twinkled in his eyes seeing the effect he had on the older boy.
namjoon was frozen for a second, too many thoughts running through his head before facing jungkook, "listen we don't really need hoseok on this one."
"hyung, fucking call him." the ravenette stood from the couch and closed the top of the laptop, "and you," he pointed at jimin, "keep typing and i'll buy dinner."
"yes sir!" jimin said with a salute, going back to his laptop with fingers moving faster than either of the other two could process.
"don't call me sir."
"yes ma'am."
jungkook just shook his head and tried not to chuckle at the boy, he didn't need any more encouragement. "tomorrow we're going to the warehouse." he said as he grabbed his phone from the kitchen counter and searched for a takeout number.
"that's so hot." jimin breathed, just thinking about all his computers and equipment sitting away and untouched for far too long. he could practically already hear relaxing hum of his machines if he closed his eyes and tried hard enough.
"you're so weird." namjoon shook his head and hung up the phone, "i told hoseok to meet up tomorrow."
"you're so tall." jimin mumbled under his breath, but he smiled as a glare was sent his way from his hyung.
"perfect, i'll be right back." jungkook said as he stepped out into the hall. they needed more people to pull this off, it was far too big of a job to be handle by three guys alone, especially when one of them refuses to do anything away from the comfort of his monitors.
it was a short walk down the sidewalk and around a few corners, people were selling food on the side of the road and the young boy made a mental note to pick something up on the way back. this part of the city was darker, more alleys and less street lamps. a faint smell of smoke wafted through the air and it suddenly felt more humid then before.
jungkook adjusted his jacket before pushing the door to the ramen shop open. it wasn't chance or lucky, nothing like fate really existed, that's what he chose to believe anyways.
everything had to be planned and strategically set in motion if an occurrence was to really happen. jungkook just knew too much, he always got what he wanted because he was smart enough to figure how to find it.
that's why he wasn't surprised to see the older boy sitting at the counter, a large sweater over his small frame and shoulders slouched.
the beanie on his head matched his green converse, the dirty beat up ones he didn't seem to want to get rid of. jungkook smiled a bit at this before sliding into the seat beside the boy.
"i was wondering when you'd come around." his friend said without looking up from the rubix cube in his hands.
"is that you admitting you've been thinking of me?" jungkook teased his hyung and took an egg roll off the plate sitting there. they were cold by now and he grimaced a little at the odd taste.
yoongi scoffed and pushed over his glass of iced tea, "help yourself." he said, "and tell me why you're here all of a sudden."
"i have a proposition."
"no."
"bro."
"did you just bro me?" yoongi looked over and squinted his eyes a little, a bit of his gums showing when that smile peeked out.
jungkook could feel his face getting warm and he shook his head, "i mean hyung, listen to me first." he corrected himself.
"i'm just joking, i'm in." he said, picking up the cube again and aimlessly spinning the colors around in no particular fashion.
the younger boy smiled, holding his fist out for a bump before standing up and fixing his jacket again. "meet me tomorrow at noon." jungkook said, knowing very well that yoongi already knew the location of the warehouse.
"get home safe." was all yoongi said as the younger left out the glass door and back down the sidewalk.
he remembered to grab some food on the way back, but the smell of the stands here rubbed him the wrong way. jungkook crosses the busy street and started walking towards the better part of the city. lights on signs beckoned people in and to buy their drinks or food, but in this area of the city most things were overlooked due to the display of the usan hotel.
jungkook didn't realize how he walked in the direction of the fancy building, it's fountains shooting up into the night sky and touching the stars. he stood against the concrete side and looked down at the various coins tossed in by little kids having unrealistic dreams.
he knew he didn't believe in fate, things don't just happen for no reason. but he couldn't explain it. jungkook couldn't explain how they kept running into each other — but there had to be a reason.
the ravenette glanced up from the clear waters for a second, only to notice the boy getting out of an expensive looking car. taehyung was wearing a silky button down shirt and dress pants, something so simply but he pulled it off so well.
they met eyes, and both froze for a second too long. taehyung smiled softly and closed the car door, and jungkook took the first few steps wink a cheeky wink to follow. the breath in taehyungs lungs seemed to vanish as his eyes couldn't leave the handsome raventte, and it's almost like a magnetic was pulling him to follow the boy.
fate was funny like that.
