WINDOWS DOWN and hair flying about, laughs got lost in the wind and left behind as they sped down the road and through the tunnel, the two boys washed in orange light.
"Amazing!" taehyung yelled, drawing out the last syllable and trying to hear the echo of his own voice in the tunnel. unsuccessful, he slumped back in the passengers seat, but the adrenaline in his veins and smile on his face didn't falter.
the tunnel ended and they were back into the night, the moon lighting the way as jungkook gradually started to slow down as they neared the city again. more cops this way and he wasn't really in the mood to get busted.
"that was crazy." taehyung breathed. his cheeks were flushed pink from the cold wind but he didn't seem to mind, the smile didn't want to leave. "where did you learn to drive like that?"
"trial and error." jungkook said, pulling into a parking garage and looking to find a spot.
"i've never been with someone who can drive that fast and not kill us." taehyung continued to talk. it didn't take long for the raven haired boy to notice how much the boy liked to talk, it was quite enjoyable to sit and listen without interrupting.
they both got out from the car and a sound went off as it locked. "and i'm so much better at other things." jungkook teased.
"like what?" taehyung asked, he didn't seem to get the underlying innuendo. too pure — and jungkook was loving it. "one day, maybe." the ravenette said instead.
he just hummed and played with the necklace from around his neck. now he wasn't sure what to do, it was all fun at the bar and then in the car being playful, but just walking silence made him really nervous. taehyung didn't realize until now how he just left the hotel without telling anyone and it must have been past midnight already. "how far away is the usan from here?" taehyung finally asked.
they were walking down the sidewalk, the older boy wasn't sure where they were, he wasn't actually sure where anything was now that he thought about it. "it's ten minutes away maybe." jungkook said.
"okay." was all he said. he should be home. god he was going to hear it now.
"is someone waiting for you?" jungkook asked. of course there was, he just wanted to know who that person was to him.
taehyung hummed with a nod, "probably my dad, or whoever he assigned to me for the night." he said. a second later he realized how odd that sounded and shook his head in an attempt to correct himself, "i meant like a guard, babysitter dude. not like at night in another way-"
"i understand, tae." jungkook cut him off, a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips watching the boy fumble for words.
"my dads a little overprotective." taehyung explained. he felt the need to.
"who's your dad anyways?" jungkook asked, he grabbed the other boys elbow and tugged him gently to the right as he kept going straight when they needed to turn.
the brunette giggled quietly at his own walking mistake and then focused on what he was just asked. maybe he drank a little more than he thought because he felt good right now. "uh, my dad." he thought, "he's kinda cool i guess, if he wasn't so busy running the dumb hotel."
"running?" jungkook paused, "as in he owns the usan?"
"what's so cool about making sure there's hot towels and seashell shapes soaps in the bathroom?" taehyung kept on going, "that's so boring. i don't get, and i definitely don't want to follow in those steps-"
"taehyung!" jungkook cut the boy off once again. the brunette paused and his eyes were a little wide at the others louder voice, maybe a little sober he'd almost be offended. "was i talking too much? that tends to happen."
"it does." jungkook said, noticing the little frown on the boys face afterwards. "but it's cute so don't stop, i just have a question."
"i might have an answer." taehyung said.
he glanced at the boy for a moment, judging his features and little smile up at him. taehyung wasn't entirely there, he was still riding on the blissful wind from when they zoomed through the tunnel, his spirit unleashed and not yet ready for the cages of his lifestyle. jungkook could tell, he noticed the way the boy started to walk slower as they approached the hotel.
"how badly does your father want you to follow in his work?"
taehyungs frowned deepened at the question. "too much." he said, "but he's not forcing me to. i'm just not getting that much support in other ideas."
jungkook figured as much and just hummed. that was enough for tonight, the older boy wasn't paying much attention anyways. he just followed beside jungkook — a few steps behind, but trailing closely as their arms brushed occasionally.
"thank you for tonight," taehyung finally said. they stopped walking and stood by the fountain outside the usan hotel. the brunette watched the water and light show, seemingly like someone who doesn't see this often, even though it's there everyday for him to gawk at.
"we can do it again." jungkook offered, the words left faster than he could register them.
damn it, he thought to himself.
maybe he could just lead him on, pretend he forgot that he offered it, but the hopefully look in taehyungs eyes and smile on his lips made jungkook forget any chance of leading the boy on. "i have a question too." the brunette said.
"i might have an answer." jungkook copied the boys remark from earlier, seeing him smile down at the ground before managing to look back up.
taehyung was a little hesitant to ask, it was easy to ramble and talk when the other wasn't really paying attention, but now jungkook was looking right at him with those dark eyes and little smirk. god it was making him nervous. maybe it was the little bit of alcohol left in his veins, or not, but something was pushing the words from his lips.
"what did you do to end up in prison?" taehyung asked softly. his fingers were crossed by his side, he hoped he didn't upset the ravenette by asking.
jungkook wasn't bothered, he had expected him to ask every since donghyun had brought up his parole earlier. technically he wasn't suppose to be near a bar for a while, 18 months to be exact. he had 17 left to go on his probation.
"would your opinion of me change once i tell you the truth?" jungkook asked.
taehyung thought about it, he wasn't so sure. jungkook was too nice to have done anything too terrible, at least that's what he thinks after spending one night with him. now that he thinks about it, taehyung did just get in his car without really considering it. but jungkook didn't kill him on the side of the road, so he must be a good guy.
"nope." he simply said.
the other wasn't so sure, it was easy to say your opinion wouldn't change when you don't know the truth. that never lasts once you know. "no bedtime stories tonight." jungkook said, nudging the boy so they could finally walk away from the fountain, "it's late, you should go before daddy realizes you're missing."
"he wouldn't." taehyung said back, a little too fast. "but yeah, goodnight."
the brunette turned to leave, walking down the rest of the sidewalk and around the large fountains edge to go up the stairs to the hotel. jungkook watched, the small steps he took that were almost robotic, just like the doormen opening the doors and smiling at every guests.
"goodnight."
