Chapter Sixteen: The End?
I walked into the kitchen, where Mick sat. I reached into my pocket and pulled out Snart's ring.
"Go away." He said grimly. I sighed and walked up behind him, holding out the ring to him.
"You were his best friend, I think you deserve this more than me." I said and he took the ring, inspecting it before shaking his head and handing it back to me.
"If he wanted you to have it, he had good reason to." he said and I hesitantly took it, sighing and placing it on my pinky before continuing looking at it as I sat next to Mick. I heard the door open behind us once again and I turned to see Ray still in some of his ATOM suit.
"Hey." he said.
"Get out. I want to be alone and I'm already dealing with her." Mick said, gesturing to me. Ray didn't listen, and instead walked to the opposite side of the table and looked at us as if thinking about what he was going to say next.
"Gideon has confirmed that the Oculus has been destroyed. From here on out, it's tabula rasa." he said and I stayed staring at the ring that now belonged to me.
"Pretend for a moment I don't speak Greek." Mick said and I looked at him.
"Latin." Ray and I said in unison and he looked at us both with a face that clearly said I don't care, "Sorry." Ray added and I just went back to staring at my ring, "From this point forward, our actions are our own. We have free will." Ray explained and I turned my attention back to the ring.
"That supposed to make us feel better?" Mick asked.
"Yes. It means that Leonard didn't die for nothing." he said and I rolled my eyes. I knew what it meant, but it doesn't change the fact that he's gone.
"He gave me this ring before he did it." I said, showing the ring and Ray looked at us.
"I'm sorry Cass, Mick." Ray said, addressing us both. I shrugged it off, trying not to think about it, but it was hard to get the image of him burning up out of my mind.
"I killed Declan, Druce is dead. The Time Master's have nothing now that their ship was completely destroyed. Yet I still feel a need to kill someone for Snart." Mick said and I raised my hand slightly.
"Ditto." I said quietly, a large contrast in comparison to my normally obnoxiously loud voice.
"Savage still has Carter and Kendra." Ray said and I looked up at him, along with Mick.
"Then I will take great pleasure in ripping his heart out."

The fabricator came in handy when it came to remaking my mask. It supplied me with all the tools and all I had to do was redo what I'd done years ago. I rebuilt my mask in less than a week, better than ever.
Okay, so it wasn't much better, it just looked newer and the visor had more pixels for the faces, plus there were now other features in the cameras that I knew I'd never use.
I was tinkering with it when in walked Sara. I looked up at her for only a moment before back to my mask, noticing the ring glint on my finger. I sighed and stopped, putting my mask down before looking up at her.
"I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry. I knew how much he meant to you." she said and I shook my head.
"He still means a lot to me. He always will." I said and stood up, "But I know, no matter how much I want him back, I can't change history. And he wouldn't want me to be heartbroken forever. I have to move on eventually, right?" I asked, trying to mask my sadness. It was easier said than done. She gave me a look of pity as if she could see right through me before seemingly remembering something.
"Rip wants everyone on the bridge." she said and I sighed.
"Of course he does."

"What are we doing back here?" Mick asked as we walked in Star city, 2016. I breathed in, missing the scent of fresh air from my home.
"Savage has a timeship, courtesy of the Time Masters. The timeline is unclear, due to our destruction of the Oculus, meaning-" Rip started explaining.
"Savage is lost to history." Stein finished for him. I still didn't see the point of being here.
"Which is why I brought you all home." Rip said and my eyes widened as I looked at him.
"Mission's not over, man." Jax said, shaking his head a bit.
"Jax is right. We've lost Savage before, we'll find him again." Ray said, being logical, unlike Rip. Okay, I get it that he lost his wife and son, but shouldn't that make him want to find and kill Savage more, like vengeance.
"And then what? We have no way of killing Savage, particularly now that Kendra and Carter are in his possession, assuming that they're still alive, which is highly unlikely." he said and I looked at Mick as if knowing that we both wanted to kill Savage.
"So that's it?" Ray asked, seemingly offended, "We're-we're just giving up?"
"I'm on my way to the refuge to retrieve our younger selves and return them to the timeline. It will be as if you never left." he said and I furrowed my eyebrows, shaking my head.
"What, you think we can just return to our old lives and then pretend like none of this ever happened?" Sara asked sarcastically. Rip hummed.
"That might be a tad difficult. So, I had to bring you back to May 2016, not January 2016." he said and I sighed, putting my head in my hands.
"Great, so what you're saying is for the last five months, my mom probably thinks that I'm dead. Thanks a lot, man." Jax said angrily. I didn't really care. I'd said all of my goodbyes, other than to Natasha, but we barely spoke. Besides, if I had gone missing, no one would look for me.
"Okay, wait, why? Why the change of plans, Rip?" Sara asked and I crossed my arms across my chest. Rip looked down instead of answering.
"If you're getting back on that ship, we get back on that ship." Mick said. Mick poked him and he looked at Mick as he began glitching. I cursed under my breath, realizing he was a hologram.
"In truth, I never left it." he said and I looked back at the ship, glaring as it began to take off. I took off, sprinting towards it and shouting.
"Come back, you ass!" I shouted and tears filled my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I didn't understand why I wanted to cry, but the feeling of being abandoned once again struck me like a lightening bolt. I turned back to see Rip still talking to the group, glancing back at me a few times. I tore off my mask and quickly wiped my eyes with my sleeve.

"Hello? Hello?" Sara called out in the Arrowcave as we walked in. We had called everyone and stopped at Laurels to see if she was home before finally coming here. I turned to see Quentin Lance sitting by a computer, looking at us both. My mask was on again and so I stepped aside so that he could greet his little girl and shoved my hands in my pockets. Like I said, Sara and Laurel were both my best friends.
I formed a ball in my hands, tossing it in the air and catching it repeatedly until I heard something that peaked my interest.
"This, uh, Damien Darhk, he's causing problems." Lance said, sounding either nervous or distraught. I stopped, letting the ball fade to smoke as I raised an eyebrow, listening.
"Well, good to know nothing's changed in five months." Sara said and there was a silence. I moved closer, knowing that couldn't be good, "Dad?" she asked, growing worried. Quentin looked away and Sara and I glanced at each other, though she couldn't see my eyes. She quickly looked back at him, "What's wrong? Is everything okay?" she asked.
"No, baby." Quentin said, looking back at her. I began to worry, hoping nothing had happened to Ollie or Dig or Felicity or Laurel. They were all my friends, best friends.
"You're starting to scare me." Sara said, smiling nervously. Quentin looked back at me as I grabbed onto a chair, knowing something awful must've happened. It didn't last long as he soon returned his gaze to his daughter.
"Damien Darhk was in Prison, and he escaped, and everyone tried to... stop him. But your sister, honey, she, um..." he explained and my eyes began to tear up for the second time in the past two hours. Sara shook her head in disbelief.
"No, dad. No." she said.
"I'm sorry, baby." he whispered and I felt tears began to fall as my mask glitched and sparked me. I threw it off my face in pain and wiped the tears away, pulling my hood down to hide my face as I cried, listening to Sara sob nearby.

It hadn't been long since we'd been home that I'd gotten not only bored with life, but an idea. I was good at science, I knew there had to be a way to get back to the ship. It didn't take a lot of research or thinking to come up with the answers.
As the ship left, it would've left quantum signatures. I might've taken a train to Central City and stolen some things from Star Labs to make a mixture of a radio beacon and a quantum entangler, both of which could be used to at least make some sort of contact with Rip if I could find quantum signatures. I returned to the spot the ship was last to find Ray, Mick, Jax and Stein already there. I walked up behind them as they spoke.
"Radio beacon." Ray showed off his small device with pride.
"Quantum entangler." Stein did the same with his slightly larger device.
"Quantum radio beacon entangler." I said and they turned to me as I held up something like a hand-held device, which was small yet had all the tech needed.
"Boring." Mick said and I rolled my eyes as I walked up to them.
"Hello again, Ms. Carlisle." Stein greeted me.
"I knew you'd be smart enough to figure it out." Ray grinned.
"Where's Sara?" Jax asked and I shrugged.
"I'd assume she's grieving." I said bluntly.
"Still boring." Mick cut in and I glared under my mask, "When do we get in contact with Hunter?" he asked. I heard footsteps and we all turned to see Sara walking up to us, seeming angry. I frowned, knowing what was on her mind.
"Ms. Lance, are you all right?" Stein asked.
"She left me." She said, pointing at me. I held my hands up in defense as she looked at Stein and Ray, "How do we get the Waverider back here?"
101
We sent a transmission through the quantum signatures, and after a while there was still nothing.
"I don't understand, this should've worked." Ray said and I laughed.
"What? You're little thing? No, mine should've worked." I said, being cruel out of frustration as I gripped at my hair, staring at my device.
"Did you two account for subspace interference?" Stein asked, making sure.
"Duh." I said like a five-year-old.
"It's the first thing I thought of." Ray added, "Did you guys adjust for temporal polarity?" Ray asked, making sure and I nodded, showing my device, which just looked like a big phone and had a screen that showed all the calculations.
"Oh, Raymond, you insult me." Stein said and I laughed, showing him as well.
"Can you reach the Waverider or not?" Sara asked, growing impatient.
"We're working on it." We all said in unison. I heard a noise and looked up, my eyes going wide.
"Actually, guys, I think it just worked." Jax said, pointing to the sky as the Waverider flew into view. Ray and Stein high-fived and I fist-bumped them both. Soon a slightly annoyed Rip walked up to us.
"I thought I made my intentions perfectly clear." he said in annoyance.
"And we wish to be equally clear about ours." Stein said. Mick walked up to Rip and pushed him.
"Do you mind?" Rip asked, now twice as annoyed.
"Just checking to see if you're real this time." Mick said, backing up.
"You're not ditching us again." Jax insisted and I nodded, crossing my arms, "When the mission's over, then we can all go our separate ways."
"And this mission is not over." Stein added.
"Yeah, just curious how much headway you've had tracking Savage without all of us." Ray said, gesturing to the rest of the team.
"None." Rip shook his head, "But neither have I got myself into bar fights in 1975 and the Old West," he looked at me and Sara,, "put Dwarf Star technology into the hands of terrorists," he looked at Ray and Stein, "or got myself turned into a scary bird monster." he looked at Ray.
"See, at least we're fun." I threw my hands in the air, as if he had just given good points and not bad ones.
"We get your point. Now get ours. That ship's not taking off without us. You got that?" Mick asked, getting up close and personal with Rip as if to intimidate him. He didn't look all that intimidated, but looked at the rest of the team as if for help. Jax made a gesture that clearly said lead the way, and he hesitantly did.
101
"Despite my wishes to pursue Savage alone, it seems that you're all intent on seeing this thing through to the bitter-" Rip stopped halfway through as I punched him. I backed up as Sara did the same.
"Oh! Speaking of bitter." Mick said as Sara held a knife to Rips throat. I crossed my arms, not caring at this point. He betrayed us all-ditched us here. He made us come back at a time that Laurel was dead so neither me or Sara could save her, and I knew that's what Sara was so upset about.
"You knew. You dropped us off five months later because you knew." Sara said angrily.
"Knew what?" Jax asked, confused and worried as Sara seemed to dig the knife slightly deeper, but still not enough to cut him.
"You knew that Laurel was going to die, and now you're going to take me back, and I'm going to save my sister." Sara demanded.
"I'm afraid that-"
"You should be afraid." Sara threatened, digging the knife even deeper. I shifted slightly, now beginning to care.
"I can't allow you-" he started and stopped as Sara hit the wall.
"I don't care about the timeline. You're taking me back now." she ordered.
"Look, Sara, I'm sure there's a valid reason why Rip didn't-" Ray tried and Sara turned back to him.
"Stay out of this!" she shouted angrily before turning back to Rip as he held up his flashy light thing, flashing it at her. She fell as Mick hauled her over his shoulder.
"What the hell, Rip?" Jax asked as anger began coursing through my veins, but I waited to confront Rip. I didn't have the anger issues Sara did from being in the Lazarus pit.
"Mr. Rory, take Ms. Lance to sleep it off." Rip ordered, not looking at any of us as he walked into his office. We all followed and I looked around as if this was the first time I'd been on the ship.
"Not to dismiss what just happened, but we do have to find Savage, assuming that Kendra and Carter are still on his timeship. He could-" Ray started as I kept picking up things and looking at them as if it would be the last time I'd see them.
"Be anywhere in time and space." Rip said and I picked up a helmet before Jax could knock it off a table. I flipped it over and furrowed my eyebrows as I noticed a piece of paper slipped into the little strap thing.
"Oh, well that narrows it down a lot." Jax said and I pulled out the paper, dropping the helmet as I opened it and read it.
"Cassiel, would you please be careful-"
"Rip, would you please just shut your stupid mouth and come look at this." I cut him off, not forgetting about my anger towards him currently.
"Was this always over here?" Jax asked, picking up the helmet, and I looked at Rip as he looked at everyone.
"No, it lives over-" he stopped and looked at me, "Did you put it there?" he asked and I shook my head, "Did you?" he asked Ray, who shook his head as well, "Did you?" Martin did the same.
"Guys." I said, drawing out the word as I held up the note.
"Chronometric repositioning." Rip said, running over to me.
"What?" Jax asked, confused.
"Basically, something's been changed in the past, so it changed something in the future. Would you please just look at the damn note?" I explained before getting back to the point, holding it out to Rip.
"Cassie, you are brilliant." he said, taking the note from me and reading it, "Gideon?"
"Yes, Captain?" Gideon responded.
"Plot a course for Saint-Lô, France, 1944." Rip ordered and I smirked under my mask.
"Why then?" Stein asked, still confused.
"Because that's where Kendra is." Rip answered, holding out the note that said so, signed by Kendra.
"How is that possible?" Jax asked in disbelief.
"She sent us a message through time." Ray said then looked at Stein, "Go ahead, say it."
"Astonishing." Stein said, a bright smile on his face.
101
"We need to talk." I said. Everyone else had left Rip's office, now it was only me and him.
"Are you going to try and kill me like your new bestie?" he asked, looking at papers on his desk.
"No, and we've always been best friends." I corrected, finally taking off my mask, "I just want to talk." I said, taking a deep breath and trying to stand tall and look strong, like I've had to do since childhood. He finally looked up at me and nodded, moving to stand in front of me.
"Go ahead." he said. I nodded. For the past weeks, I'd thought long and hard about what I would tell him the next time I saw him. I never actually thought I'd get the chance to.
"You know about my past. You know enough about me to know how emotionally screwed I am." I started, trying to choke down tears as I kept eye contact with him, "I've been in some really crappy situations, Rip." I said and he nodded.
"May I ask what your point is?" he asked, looking like he had something better to do.
"My point is you abandoned me!" I shouted at him and tried to calm myself down as tears pricked my eyes, "I've never felt right anywhere, a constant nobody, but I found a home here, with you and the team. You abandoned me at the time I needed a family most." I said and he had a guilty expression on his face.
"I thought I was doing the right thing." he said softly and I laughed sardonically.
"You always think you're doing the right thing, but look now. The teams been back for less than an hour and we've already got a lead." I said and he nodded, "Just... Just don't be stupid next time you think you're doing the "right thing"." I said and he nodded. I looked down at my mask and turned on my heel, walking away.
"Cassie." he stopped me. I turned back to him as he walked up to me, "I'm very sorry... about all of this." he said and I knew he was talking about Laurel too. I smiled sadly.
"It's okay. You should just let Sara know that, along with the rest of the team." I said and patted his shoulder.
Without another word, we parted and went our separate ways and I felt a weight lifted off my shoulder out of millions.
101
"We've arrived in Saint-Lô. No sign of Kendra yet, but I have located Vandal Savage and he does not seem to be alone."
101
I watched the scene play out, having absolutely no clue what was going on since I never took German in high school. I got As in French, though. Eventually, the leader of the German soldiers looked done and they began shooting at Vandal. He laughed and began throwing knives or hatchets or tomahawks at them, hitting each of them. Soon, a flame appeared and we all jumped out of hiding. I immediately swung my sledgehammer at a Nazi before looking at Savage.
"Damn, son, you been taking lessons?" I asked and he glared at me before smirking. I turned and ducked as another Nazi tried to swing at me, losing his balance. I swung my hammer at his feet, making him flip onto the ground.
"Keep Savage and our Nazi friends occupied. Gideon has detected a temporal signature consistent with a timeship. If Kendra and Carter are alive, that is where they're going to be." Rip said through comm.s from the Waverider.
"Yeah, I see it." I heard Jax as I swung at another Nazi before smirking and throwing my hammer at Savage. He didn't notice it until last second and held out his arms as if to block, still getting hit, but not as badly as I'd intended. More black storm trouper like guys came from nowhere and I furrowed my eyebrows, but nevertheless continued fighting, swinging left and right, "Kendra's down." I heard after a while and groaned, continuing to fight while trying not to worry about them. All I was tasked with was making sure these guys were occupied.
The storm trouper guys kept coming at us and I found myself backed up to Sara and worrying double time, once for Kendra, Carter, and Jax, and twice for us.
"Rip, we're kind of outnumbered here." Mick shouted from just a few feet away from us.
"Fall back. Staying here to fight Nazis is exacerbating the damage that we have already done to the timeline." he ordered and I nodded, even though he couldn't see. I began backing up along with Mick and Ray and Sara.
"But Kendra-" Jax said worriedly.
"Is alive, thankfully, and we will rescue her in due course. I hope." Rip sighed.
"Great. It's like a game of duck, duck, goose. You gain one featherbrain and lose another."
101
"So this is a spaceship?" Carter asked, looking around as if it was the first time he was on the ship, which I suppose it was for him right now.
"It's a timeship," Rip corrected, "but yes, it does also travel through space." he added and Carter turned back to us.
"Y-You've seen it before, Mr. Hall." Stein said and I rolled my eyes, my mask still on as he didn't know my true face. It wasn't like he remembered.
"That used to be my name. Carter Hall." he said questionably and I sighed.
"There really is rather a lot to fill you in on-" Rip started.
"None of which we have time to do right now because we need to find Kendra and find out what Savage wanted with Nazis, right Rip?" I asked, cutting him off with a bored tone to my robotic voice.
"Exactly, Ca-Fae." he said and I smiled under my mask. He then turned to Carter, "Speaking of Kendra and Savage, we need your assistance in locating them." he said.
"Perhaps we can start with what Savage was doing in 1944, as Ms-Fae stated." Stein said, correcting himself with my name as Rip had. I pointed at him as if saying aye.
"He said something about, um... Thanagarian technology." Carter said, moving slightly closer.
"Thanagarian?" Jax asked, just as confused as Carter.
"The Thanagarians were a race of extraterrestrials." Rip said and I felt a smile form on my face.
"Aliens. Cool." I said happily.
"He also said that this technology was actually three meteors." Carter said and I hummed in thought. Didn't Kendra and old Carter once say that their powers came from meteors?
"Captain, I have surveillance footage which might be relevant." Gideon said and I stood from my spot on a jump-seat to look at the footage on the computer table screen as Rip thanked Gideon. Savage opened a box that had a giant rock in it. It looked familiar to a meteor.
"I've seen that rock before." Jax said and I averted my attention to him, "Savage had one of those in 1958." he explained and I quickly looked back to the footage.
"He took our blood. He said he would use it in a ritual to erase time, take the blood back to 1700 B.C." Carter said and we all exchanged glances, knowing at least one thing. We couldn't let that happen.
101
"Rip." I drew out, looking at him from my seat in his office. He was looking at papers once again, "Rip." I tried again, moving to be looking at him upside down, "Rip." I said in a high pitched voice. He closed his eyes, trying to ignore me and I smirked, "Rip."
"What is it, Cassie?" he asked and I pouted, sitting up and looking at him.
"I'm bored and you're no fun." I whined.
"I didn't ask you to be in here." he said, furrowing his eyebrows, "Why don't you just go be with Mr. Rory and Ms. Lance?" he asked and I thought about it.
"Well, Sara's moody and Mick's probably eating or sleeping, both of which I wouldn't want to mess with him during." I said and looked down at my hand, looking at the ring on my pinky as my breathing slowed for a moment. Before either of us could say anything else, I heard footsteps and quickly grabbed my mask, putting it on and turning. It was only Stein and Jax, "Hello boys." I greeted and Jax waved, but Stein seemed intent on something else. I turned back to Rip to see him going back to his paperwork and I huffed in annoyance.
Stein grabbed some marker and quickly got to work, writing down equations on the window wall of Rip's office, but he didn't seem to care. I furrowed my eyebrows and stood up, walking up to him and watching him work. After a little bit of concentrating, I began to slightly understand the equations.
After maybe half an hour to an hour of writing and thinking, Stein stopped and laughed softly.
"I figured out how Savage plans to erase time." he said and I looked at Rip, who had previously been tapping something on his hand as he waited. He put it up before walking up to us, "I believe he intends to detonate each of these meteors in a different time period." Stein added and I looked at his equations once again. It hit me then, how obvious it was. You can't destroy the world three times, it would create a paradox which would erase time and sort of restart the world before any of it could begin, which just so happened to be Ancient Egypt, 1700 B.C.
"How can you destroy the world three times in three different times?" Jax asked, bringing me out of my thoughts and I looked at him with a grin on my hidden face.
"You can't." I responded.
"It would create a temporal paradox." Rip added and I nodded.
"Which would result in a timequake that would return the Earth to the point of the first chronothermic reaction, Ancient Egypt." Stein added to Rip, proud of his work.
"Okay, it's official." Jax started, walking into the office as he'd been standing outside, looking in through the window, "This is the craziest bad guy plan in the history of bad guy plans." Jax finished and I rolled my eyes. As if bad guys cared.
"Yes, I don't think that sanity's a yardstick by which Vandal Savage can be measured." Rip said and I snorted.
"Okay, so which time periods are we talking here?" Jax asked, to which I looked at Stein for the answer.
"You said Savage was in possession of one of these meteorites in 1958. That was a year of a rare alignment, with the Earth and Thanagar." Stein responded and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"And you became an expert on Thanagar when?" I asked and Stein gave me a bored look.
"I do my research." he said defensively. I held up my hands in my own defense and turned to Rip as if asking for help.
"Evidently he got hold of a second meteorite in 1944." Rip said and I let out a silent sigh.
"Which would be useless to him in a year where the Earth and Thanagar weren't in alignment. Now, if my math is correct, and trust me, it is, the next two years that Earth and Thanagar are in sync are 1975 and 2021." Stein said and I rolled my eyes at his ego, but he was normally correct so I didn't argue.
"But Savage still has to do this in three different time periods." Jax said questionably. Stein chuckled quietly.
"That's the beauty of immortality, Jefferson; he can. He can literally be in three places at once."
101
"So if Savage plans on blowing up the world three times, how do we stop him?" Jax asked out of curiosity and confusion.
"We don't." Stein said and I looked at my ring once again.
"We kill him." I said, shoving my hand in my pocket as I looked back up at them.
"How?" Carter asked.
"We've always known that only you or Kendra could kill Savage using items exposed, as you were, to the meteor's radiation. Now, the radiation works both ways. It gave Savage his immortality, but-" Stein began explaining.
"It also makes him vulnerable." Rip figured and I smirked under my mask, already imagining all the ways I could take the last bit of life from him.
"And Savage is about to unleash the radiation from three meteorites in three different time periods." Stein said.
"Triple the exposure." Jax thought aloud.
"Yes. Which should be sufficient to render Savage mortal." Stein said and I grinned, clenching my fist.
"And then all we've got to do is kill Savage three times." Jax said, a wicked grin on his face which probably wasn't much different from mine.
"Indeed. Gideon can navigate the Waverider and we can split into teams of two and three." Stein suggested, "One in 1958, one in 1975, and one in 2021."
101
I was in 1975 with Sara and Firestorm, Mick and Ray were in 1958, and Kendra, Carter, and Rip were in 2021. We watched old Firestorm fly out of the bidding place with the bomb from the mission and I thought about just how far Snart was from me right now, clenching my fist as I looked down at the ring.
"Oh, man, I forgot how much of a badass I was." Jax said from beside me and I smiled slightly.
"Look." Sara said from not too far away and we did, seeing Savage walking up to the crate that had the meteor in it. We watched him and the owner of the meteor 'negotiate' if by negotiate you mean Savage saying he was just gonna finesse the meteor.
The explosion caused a distraction as Savage shot the seller and all of his guards. He then walked up to the meteor and began the ritual immediately, pulling out a vial of blood and pouring it over it. He then began to speak a different language and I looked at my teammates for a sign to move, forming my sledgehammer.
"You ready to show these fools what's really good?" Jax asked Stein.
"You have no idea." Stein said and they clasped hands, forming Firestorm. They then flew up and Sara and I just walked out into the open.
"Glad we're past the point of worrying about the timeline." she said and got her stick ready as I swung my sledgehammer over my shoulder, a wicked grin on my face, covered by my mask. Savage ran and grabbed a bazooka, firing it at us. Before it could hit, Firestorm swung down and stopped it, aiming it behind us. We ran at him and I jumped, swinging my hammer down. He caught it and threw me to the side. I grunted as I hit a truck and decided I needed to make a new approach at this one.
"Oh, you're too late." Savage said, keeping his eyes on both of us.
"Time Master's never late." Sara said and I stood up as they fought. I let my hammer fade to smoke in my hand as I watched, knowing Sara could handle herself for now.
I let the smoke turn into a dagger and smirked.
Sara got Savage to his knees before holding her stick against his throat and looked back at me. We nodded at each other and I glared at Savage, running up to him and plunging the knife into his chest as he let out a grunt and staggered breath.
"For Snart, you dirty son of a bitch." I growled, pulling out the dagger. Sara moved her stick, snapping his neck as he dropped to the ground. I let my dagger change back to my sledgehammer and walked back up to his body, bashing in his skull until his face was unrecognizable, not listening to Sara shouting for me to stop until she put a hand on my shoulder.
I paused and let the hammer fade to smoke as I slowly turned to face her.
"He's dead." she said and I nodded, looking back at him and backing up.
"We still have a meteorite." I said, trying not think about the mutilation I'd just done to Savage without feeling guilt.
We walked up to the meteor as Firestorm flew over and landed next to us.
"Gray, listen. If we're going to do this, we got to do it together. It's going to take the two of us, all right?" Jax asked, most likely to Stein who was probably speaking in his head, "Okay." he said, putting his hands on the meteor. I backed up and pulled Sara with me slightly, "Come on, Gray!" Jax shouted. He seemed to be pushed back after a moment as the meteor turned into water, spilling out to us and wetting Sara's boots.
"Oh, man. You got my boots wet." she said in playful annoyance.
"We did it, man." Jax said happily and I grinned, "Gideon, take us back to Rip."

We got to 2021 with Ray and Mick and got off of the Waverider to see another dead Savage.
"Damn it! I wanted to be the one to kill him. Again, I mean." Mick whined and I rolled my eyes.
"Don't be a baby." I teased, lightly punching his arm and he raised an eyebrow at me with wide eyes. I held up my hands in defense and walked back over to Sara.
"Um... I don't think our problems are over yet." she said as the meteor made a whirring noise. I looked at Firestorm as they landed.
"I'm on it." Jax said and put his hand on the meteor again, but nothing happened and Mick gave him a bored look.
"On what?" he asked, not exactly confused, more just wondering what the Hell Jax was supposed to be doing.
"It's not working." Jax said, pulling back and I bit my lip in worry.
"I got this." Ray said, walking up to the meteor and throwing down a piece of wood to aim at it, charging up a laser beam and blasting it, but again, nothing happened, "I don't understand." he said in confusion, "I must be all out of power."
"What happens if only one of these goes off?" Sara asked.
"Uh...time will remain intact. The world? Not so much." Rip answered.

If you've ever seen any action film ever created, you'd know that this was the time of crisis, the climax. Well, to us, this climax didn't exactly have it's resolution and it was beginning to worry us.
"Okay, guys, let's fly this thing out of here." Jax said, trying to come up with a plan on short notice as I pulled at my hair under my hood.
"To where?" Kendra asked calmly, "We would never get it far enough away."
"Maybe the Waverider can." Ray suggested and I looked at him, "Rip, we need-" he turned to where Rip should have been standing, but he wasn't there. I furrowed my eyebrows as I looked around before hearing a noise over us and looking up.
There the Waverider was. Flaps on the side opened up and a beam shot at the meteor, picking it up like a scene from E.T.
"Rip! What are you doing?" Sara asked and I couldn't help but feel a sort of aching feeling in my chest.
"Uh, I'm flying the Waverider into the sun, with the meteor on board." Rip answered on comm.s and my eyes widened.
"And you on it!" I said, sounding angry, but more worried.
"I guess this is goodbye." he said and tears pricked my eyes.
"It's been a pleasure, Captain." Ray said. I looked at him and shook my head.
"Likewise, Dr. Palmer." Rip said.
"You can't just give up like this." I said quietly, my voice cracking, "We can find another way to contain the blast. I-I can wrap my smoke around it and solidify it-"
"No, Cassie. That won't work, trust me." Rip said and I shut my mouth, biting my lip.
"But you brought us all into this, man." Jax said.
"Which is why I'm doing this alone, Mr. Jackson." Rip said, but I stayed still in disbelief. I'd already lost too much, we all had, "I'll have no one else die for my choices."
"This isn't going to bring Snart back." Sara said and I snapped my head in her direction.
"I don't want to lose another friend." Mick said.
"I appreciate that, Mr. Rory. I must say, it's been an honor to serve as your cap-" he started before everything went fuzzy and I looked at the ground, feeling a few tears slip and my mask malfunction.

"And the meteorite." Sara and I said in unison. I heard a noise and we all looked up to see the Waverider fly up. I became more confused than ever.
"Will somebody please tell me what just happened?" Ray asked.
"Me too." I mumbled in confusion.
We boarded the Waverider and I immediately began searching for Rip, shouting his name before noticing him standing in the hallway. The ship looked terrible, things were exploding and all the lights were out.
"Sorry if I gave you all a fright." he said and I immediately hugged him
"What happened to the meteor?" Sara asked as I backed up and he looked at me with wide, confused eyes. I held up my finger, pointing at him.
"Don't disappear." I said quietly and he nodded, turning away from all of us.
"Uh, I flew it into the heart of the sun. Well, I angled the ship to eject the meteorite before impact and then, uh... time jumped away." he explained and my eyes widened. No wonder I felt the need to hug him when I got on the ship, he could've died.
"You could have been killed." Jax said, sounding more angry than worried.
"Should have been." Mick said, "You're a moron." he added and Rip just laughed.
"Now, who fancies a return trip to 2016?" he asked before pushing open doors to the bridge manually.
"I can't believe it's over." Kendra said as we walked in and I looked around, wanting to remember as much as I could if Rip forced any of us to leave, but I didn't want to leave.
"Well, for some of you, yes. My journey, it seems, is only just beginning." Rip said as we all walked to our seats.
"How does that work? Savage is three times dead." Mick reminded as if we hadn't just experienced it.
"The Time Masters are no longer of growing concern, due to our destruction of the Oculus. Someone needs to be responsible for protecting the timeline. Who better than a former Time Master? And any of you who'd like to join me."

Sara stood by the grave, yet I stood away, grieving from afar. I didn't want to be seen by anyone, especially not Quentin right now, who'd walked up behind Sara. I lifted my mask to wipe my tears, leaning against another gravestone. It was so strange. It felt like I'd never left, and yet I wasn't caught up on most of the things that had happened. The team had seemed to be getting on okay without me, other than Laurel, who was already in the ground. I sighed and popped off my mask, forming a bag and shoving it in it. I walked up to them, my hood up as I looked at the gravestone.
"I'm so sorry." I said and yet I didn't know who I was talking to; Quentin, Sara, or Laurel.

I sat at the bar, Mick standing beside me as I stared at my ring.
"You sure you don't want to go first?" he asked as he waited for his beer.
"No, you go ahead, he's waiting for you anyways." I said, trying to calm the loud beating in my heart as the bartender finally got him his beer. He took it and glanced at me and my hand before turning and walking back to the table where Snart was waiting. I turned and watched, not caring as my mask was off and my hood was covering my face. I couldn't hear the conversation, but I didn't need to to know that it was heartbreaking as Mick walked away. He nodded at me and I looked at my hand before turning and ordering two drinks.
I took the drinks and walked over to his table before he could leave. He looked up at me.
"Pretty sure you're more of a beer guy than a wine guy." I said, handing him the beer and sitting next to him, quickly shoving my hand in my pocket.
"And who are you? An angel?" he asked and I looked at him, a pain in my chest at the name.
"Might just be." I smiled and he sighed, sipping on the beer.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"I'm thinking your buddy just told you all that needs to be said, but just cause I don't know what exactly that is, I'm gonna tell you this." I said, getting closer and he stared directly into my eyes. His icy blue ones burned into mine, "Don't ever stop fighting. People will need you one day, Leonard Snart." I said and stood to leave.
"How do you know my name." he said, grabbing the hand that was in my pocket and pulling it out to stop me. I looked back at him to find him staring at the ring on my pinky, identical to his, "Who are you? Where did you get that?" he asked, his grip tightening. I smiled at him.
"Just as you said, Snart, I'm an angel... And that, well... I guess you could say it was a gift from someone very dear to me." I answered and pulled my hand from his grip, walking towards the door as tears slipped down my cheeks.
I met up with Ray, Rip, and Mick in the parking lot. I wiped my face, but Ray immediately noticed my tears, pulling me into a hug.
"If it's any consolation, I can always bring you back to this particular time and place." Rip said and I shook my head.
"I've said all that needs to be said."

We all stood outside of the Waverider in a line, most of us wanting to get back on it as Rip walked out.
"A full compliment?" he asked and laughed, clasping his hands together, "To be honest, I had by doubts that all of you would be willing to throw in with me for a second go." he said, I suppose in disbelief and I turned my head to look at Kendra and Carter.
"Well, actually-" Carter started, trying to be slow and steady with his words.
"We're not coming with you." Kendra said, getting it all out and I sighed, looking down before at Ray, not even being able to imagine how heartbreaking it must be for him.
"With Savage gone, we want to start fresh, see what happens." Carter explained, glancing from Kendra to Rip.
"I give it three months, tops." Mick said and I snorted a laugh, rolling my eyes at his immaturity.
"Look, I just..." Kendra began, taking a few steps to stand in front of us, "I want to say thank you. To all of you." she said and I took in a sharp breath, looking at Ray, "Ray, I-"
"No. This is-it's meant to be. I wish both of you nothing but the best." Ray said like the sweetheart he is and I suddenly felt an urge to protect him. They hugged and departed before Kendra looked at Sara.
"Be safe." she said to her and Sara showed the slightest hint of a smile.
"See you guys around." Carter said and I waved at them both. They put on their bird helmets, sprouted their wings, and flew off. Mick walked closer to me.
"Every time they do that, I get hungry for chicken." he said, eating a chocolate bar and I tried my best not to laugh under my mask as Sara gave him a funny look.
"So, shall we?" Rip asked, turning back to us before beginning to walk back to the Waverider. Before we could get to it, we heard a boom and the sound of an engine and turned to see what was making the noise, seeing what seemed to be the Waverider in the sky.
"Is that-" Sara began.
"The Waverider." Rip said in disbelief.
"Another Waverider?" Stein asked as it got closer and closer to us.
"Whatever it is, it's not slowing down." Ray said and my eyes widened before I tried to run for cover.
"Get down!" Jax ordered in a shout. Without another minute to spare, the other Waverider crashed into the ground in front of us, "What the Hell's going on?" Jax asked in confusion as if we knew. I shrugged, wide eyed.
"To be honest with you, Mr. Jackson, I have absolutely no idea." Rip said.
"That's great." I said sarcastically. Soon a man walked off of the other Waverider and joined us. He wore a black leather jacket and a black hood with a green tint to it and looked like he could be an old time-y comic book superhero.
"Is this 2016?" he asked over the sound of his ships engines, "Is this May, 2016?" he asked again and I looked at the others before nodding slowly and confusedly.
"Yeah." Jax answered verbally.
"You're exactly where you said you'd be." the strange man said. He then pointed at the Waverider behind us, our Waverider, "Do not get on that ship. If you do, you're all dead." he warned and I crossed my arms over my chest, not trusting nor believing him.
"Says who?" Mick asked, feeling the same way as me.
"Says you, Mr. Rory. You sent me." he said as if it was obvious, to which I furrowed my eyebrows.
"I'm sorry. Who exactly are you?" Rip asked and the man pushed back his hood to reveal the rest of his face and head.
"My name is Rex Tyler. I'm a member of the Justice Society of America."
