Chapter One: Useless Wannabe's

I don't consider myself a bad person. Then again, I don't necessarily consider myself a good person. I mean, I get angry a lot, I have my mood swings. I say things I don't mean sometimes, and I have hurt good people, but never intentionally. I do intentionally help people. I use my powers for good most of the time. Sure, I might steal a little something from time to time, and sure, I get a lot of strange looks, but at this point most people know me and my colleagues are good.

That doesn't stop this feeling in the pit of my stomach-that feeling of emptiness. I feel useless. I know I'm doing good things, but it feels like it's not my purpose. It feels like I might not have a purpose. I know I could be doing bigger things; I just don't know what.

So here I was, sitting on the edge of a roof, staring at the ground far beneath my feet. I watched the cars move quickly in the night sky, they looked like they were glowing ants. I kicked my feet a few times before standing up and turning around. Just as I was about to leave, I heard a high pitched scream come from down below. I smirked beneath my mask and took a few steps back, falling off the building. I held my hands out in front of me and black smoke shot from my fingertips, wrapping around me and the building to the point where I was floating down. About five feet from the ground I dropped down, and ran in the direction of the scream. I saw a few brutes in leather jackets surrounding a woman and rolled my eyes. I already knew they were trying to steal something from her. That much was obvious.

"Men like you make me incredibly uncomfortable." I said, my voice modifier making me sound robotic. The group turned towards me and grinned.

"Well, if it isn't the Fae, haven't heard about you lately-"

"Yeah, less talk more punch please." I said and black smoke wrapped around my arms and created a sledge hammer in my hands. I grinned and ran at them. They had guns, but were so slow that by the time they had pulled them out, my sledgehammer had already made contact. I swung low, hitting ones leg and another's side. They both fell to the ground and I turned, swinging at the third, who caught the hammer. I could tell my mask was making a funny face, most likely question marks, at the guy as he put his guard down for a split second. I pulled back the hammer and swung it the other way. It smashed into his shoulder, sending him flying. I looked back at the woman, "You should probably run." She began running and I put my hands on my hips, stepping on one of the fallen guys as I watched her, the sledgehammer turning into mist.

"Is Cassie short for something?" I heard a British voice behind me and snapped my head in the direction, ready to fight someone else. Standing there was a (quite attractive) man with dazzling blue eyes, dark with some kind of troubling memory. He had slight facial hair and wore a tan trench coat, adding to the badass factor he was clearly trying to put off. Before I could get in a word, I saw a bright light and everything went white.

I came to on top of another building, laying next to billion dollar, Ray Palmer. He was one of mine and Ollie's friends, but we were still a little too close for comfort as we were mere inches away. I sat up and looked around in confusion. Beside Ray were the two criminals I'd met once or twice before, Mick Rory and Leonard Snart, or Heatwave and Captain Cold as Cisco named them. Both still passed out I saw their guns laying beside them and goggles around their necks. Snart was wearing his signature parka, and Mick was wearing a plain light brown jacket. After Snart was Professor Martin Stein, who I knew as one half of Firestorm. Then Sara Lance, another friend, someone I'd known since childhood who only recognized me from the past few months with Ollie as the Fae. Then was Kendra Saunders and Carter Hall, Hawkgirl and Hawkman, talk about comic copycats, and lastly a boy I'd met once before by the name Jefferson Jackson, or Jax for short, aka the other half of firestorm. As everyone woke up, they all began to question how we'd got here. I stood up and looked over the edge of the building, contemplating leaving, but too intrigued by how someone got the drop on me.

"Where are we?" Sara asked and I looked around.

"Why don't you ask the dude that knocked us out and kidnapped us? British dude with a flashy thing. Ring any bells?" Jax asked, sounding extremely aggravated.

"The names Rip Hunter." I turned to the new voice and glared, which would show as two slits on my mask. There stood the man who had kidnapped us and brought us wherever we were now. "I'm from East London. Oh, and the future."

"Nice to meet you, Rip." Mick said, looking at his gun, and I walked up to Rip.

"You friggin Men in Black-ed us, dude." I said, throwing my arms around as if to show more expression.

"No, that would be erasing your memory, I simply knocked you out." he said and I rolled my eyes.

"Same difference."

"Um, while you were incapacitated, I may have tampered with your weapons." he said, noticing Mick was messing with his gun, most likely trying to char us all. "I've assembled you all because I need your help. The future of the world is in peril because of a man by the name of Vandal Savage." he said, walking to the other end of the line of people like a drama queen.

"That can't be. We destroyed him." Carter said in disbelief.

"Yeah, the Green Arrow and Flash helped us do it-"

"And me." I butted in, even more intrigued.

"And therein lay the problem. Unless you or Mr. Hall deliver the death blow, Savage can be restored from but a single cell." Rip said, holding up his index finger. I sighed and let my head drop.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Mick asked in confusion.

"Vandal is immortal. Kendra and I reincarnate." Carter explained like it was the most normal thing he could say.

"Yeah, I've done that." Sara said; I smiled. She'd been gone from the Arrow team for a while and I had forgot how much I missed her being around.

"And what the Hell does this Randall guy got to do with us?" Mick asked.

"Vandal." Rip corrected, "In the future, he will employ the evil he's perfected over his long life, and the power he has amassed throughout history, to finally conquer the world." Rip explained, walking in the other direction, again, like a drama queen. "I've been tasked with assembling an elite team to stop him."

"How?" I asked.

"To travel through time. To capture Savage before he grows into the monster he becomes." He said, holding his hand out.

"You got the wrong guy. "Hero" ain't on my resume." Snart said, walking past Rip.

"Or mine." Mick said, following after. I rolled my eyes, not like we needed them.

"I know it's difficult for you to fathom, but where—when I'm from, the year 2166, you, and everyone on this roof aren't just considered heroes... You're legends." he said. At that word, I knew my mask had showed heart eyes.

"Legends?" Ray asked.

"I, um, I hate to nitpick, but doesn't a legend have to be dead?" Stein asked as they both walked up to Rip.

"Yeah, see, uh, that's a deal breaker for me, so I'm gonna pass." Jax added.

"Me too, I kind of like my life right now." I said and began walking away before Rip started talking again.

"It's dangerous for any of you to know too much about your own futures, but I am here because each of you, as individuals, is destined for greatness." he said and looked us all over.

"I could get behind that." Ray said and I rolled my eyes. Rip turned and began walking away to the edge of the building.

"And because if you don't follow me, this is what is in store for your world 150 years from now." he held up a remote, and I raised an eyebrow.

"Where'd he get that from?" I asked, leaning towards Ray and Sara, who both shrugged. Soon the dark night sky surrounding us turned into deep red orange ones, and the buildings were all destroyed and in flames. I looked around, watching my world get destroyed.

It soon stopped. "I could have chosen any time and any place." Rip said and turned to us, "Of all the people who ever lived, I chose you nine. I certainly hope that you won't let me, and the world, down." he said and everything went silent for a few seconds before he started walking again. He walked up to Stein and held up a small paper, "If your answer is yes, meet me at this address in thirty six hours." he said, handing it to Professor Stein before leaving. I snatched the paper from him and burned the address into my memory before handing it back.

"I have somewhere to go." I said, not wanting to discuss anything with any of these people at the moment. I walked to the edge of the building and dived off.

101

"Ray's already told me." Ollie said as I stared at him.

"And?" I asked.

"I don't think you guys should go. You don't know anything about this guy." he said and I sighed.

"I know, but Ollie, I'm so bored here. I'm dead. I can't even take off this mask-"

"Yes you can-"

"Okay, I can, but how many people know me here?" I asked and he nodded in understanding. "I just want to live."

"Fine. But you better come back, alive." he said and I smiled, hugging him.

"Make sure you give the team, and Barry, a goodbye for me. All right?" I asked and he nodded. I kissed his cheek, saluted, and ran out of the Arrowcave.

101

The next day I arrived at the place in a wave of black smoke, looking around to see Stein with a passed out Jax in a car. The rest of the gang were walking up, including the criminals, who I doubted would come.

"So glad you could all make it. Where's Rip?" I asked.

"Well, I see you've all decided to come." I turned to the voice of the Englishman. "Well then, we can be on our way." Rip began to walk away before Snart interrupted.

"I ain't footing it anywhere." he said with his arms crossed.

"A Time Master's sacred charge is to do no harm to the timeline. Can you imagine what a Timeship would look like in, say, Victorian England?" Rip asked.

"Holographic indigenous camouflage projection." Professor Stein said and Rip smirked, nodding slightly.

"Indeed." he held out a remote and pressed a button, and out of the blue appeared a big spaceship like thing. I stared in awe, as did the rest of the group, "It's called the Waverider. It's been my ship for over a decade." Rip turned from the ship back to us, "Shall we?"

"We shall." I said, quickly walking past him.

I walked with Rip inside the ship, looking around.

"You did a damn good job convincing these people to trust you." my robotic voice spoke.

"Thank you." he said, seeming humbled.

"Just to be clear, Mr. Hunter, I don't trust you." I said and looked at him, "That's something you'll have to earn with time, but I do admire your speeches." I said.

"Do you have to talk with that mask on?" he asked.

"Like I said, I don't trust you." I said and remembered he knew my name. "By the way, my name's Fae, they don't know otherwise so don't let them know otherwise." I said, to which he nodded. We reached what looked like a control room and I walked up beside Snart, greeting him with a nod before looking back at Rip.

"How does a vessel of this size function without a crew?" Stein asked.

"I don't need one. I have Gideon." Rip replied and a giant blue head appeared over a table in the middle of the room.

"Welcome aboard. I am Gideon, an interactive artificial consciousness programmed to operate this vessel's critical systems and aid Captain Hunter in his mission." Gideon spoke.

"Captain?" Snart asked with a smirk.

"Gideon's been working on helping me locate Vandal Savage." Rip said, ignoring Snart.

"I thought you said he's pretty active in the 22nd century." Ray said, questionable.

"Perhaps engaging Savage at the height of his powers isn't the best strategy." Professor Stein said and I nodded.

"Kick him while he's down." I added.

"Indeed." Rip said, walking up onto a small raised platform where the table was. "Unfortunately, Savage has kept his movements hidden throughout history. Not even Gideon can determine where or when we can find him. But I have the next best thing: the man who can." Rip walked to the other side of the table control thing and put his hands on it. "Professor Aldus Boardman. Professor Boardman is the world's leading - well, only - expert on Vandal Savage. We're gonna pay him a little visit."

"Course plotted for St. Roch, New Orleans." Gideon said. I was already liking Gideon a bit.

"St. Roch?" Carter asked, as if he knew the place, but didn't at the same time.

"October 17, 1975." she finished.

"I suggest you all strap yourselves in. Temporal navigation isn't something one wants to be standing up for." Rip said, running to the chair closest to the window and sitting down. Everyone began running to seats and I was the first to realize there were only eight.

"Um, Rip, problem here." I said.

"I should get that sorted soon. Sorry C- Fae, you'll have to share for now." he said and I groaned.

"Not it." Mick said immediately.

"Thanks, hothead, didn't wanna sit with you anyways." I said and looked at Ray and Sara.

"Sara's smaller." Ray said and Sara sighed.

"Come on." she said, patting her lap. I went and sat down on her lap.

"Don't drop me." I said and she rolled her eyes.

"Wouldn't dream of it."

"Time travel. Cool." Mick said, changing the subject.

"Some of you might experience some slight discomfort. In very rare instances, there will be some, uh, bleeding from the eyeballs." Rip warned, mumbling the last bit.

"I'm sorry, what?" Kendra asked, suddenly worried.

"Better not stain my mask." I said. Before answering us, Rip pressed a button and the wave rider began shaking.

"The human body is used to time unfolding linearly." he replied. As the ship started moving, Jax finally began to wake up from his little "nap".

"Jackson, I'm so glad you're awake. I didn't want you to miss this." Stein said.

"Miss what? What the-!" Jax yelled and I couldn't help but laugh as I watched him try to unfasten his guard to get up. Sara's arms were around my waist tightly and I was holding onto the seat so I wasn't worried about myself.

"Oh, no, I wouldn't unfasten those if I were you." Rip warned.

"Get me off this—whatever this thing is!" Jax shouted.

"Awe, the baby wants to run home to his mommy." I said, very rudely, in a baby talk voice.

"Good luck explaining this." Sara said.

"I did him a favor." Stein replied.

"He doesn't look all that grateful." Snart teased while smirking.

"Just hang on and remain calm. All your worlds are about to change." Rip said as his chair turned around, looking out the giant window.

"Awe, I want a window seat!"

101

When we arrived in the 1970s, I immediately stood up along with Ray, looking around. Mick vomited, which made me laugh and point like a five year old.

"Oh, I should have mentioned it before. Nausea is one of the side effects of time travel, along with-" he was cut off when Ray fell and I laughed again, "Vertigo."

"I can't see." Stein said.

"And temporary blindness. Oh, it should only last a minute." Rip stood up and walked up to Stein. "After all, that was a mere jaunt. The further back in time you go, the worse the side effects." he waved a hand in front of Stein's face before putting his hands on his shoulders. "Better?"

"It's all relative."

"Good." Rip walked away from him. I turned to Sara.

"Thanks for not dropping me." I said, and she smiled and nodded at me.

"Hey, I want to go home." Jax called out Rip, who didn't bother to look at him.

"Good news, then. 2016 will be around in, uh, 41 years." Rip said and I couldn't help but giggle. "Now, you four, feel free to make yourself comfortable back here on the ship, while the rest of you are coming with me to find professor Boardman." Rip said, the "four" obviously being me, Snart, Mick, and Sara. I raised an eyebrow which turned into two question marks on my mask.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you're benching us?" Mick asked seeming offended.

"I thought we were a team." Sara said.

"This mission doesn't require your particular skill set. Yet." Rip said.

"Meaning you don't need anyone killed, maimed, or robbed." Snart said and I glared at him, "Or generally freaked out."

"Precisely." Rip said and began walking away before Ray stopped him.

"You sure it's a good idea to leave these two unsupervised on a time machine?" Ray asked, referring to Snart and Rory. I sat in the seat next to Sara that Ray had been sitting in minutes earlier.

"Hey, haircut!" Mick said, getting his attention. "Deafness wasn't one of the side effects."

"We better hurry up. Professor Boardman will die in less than twenty four hours." Rip said, walking to the door.

"What's the point in cutting it so close?" Ray asked, following after.

"Because if he's destined to die, then he doesn't have a timeline for us to disrupt, and his impact on the future will be minimal. How brilliant." Stein admired and I rolled my eyes.

"And depressing." Kendra said, "How does he die?"

"Uh, he's found dead in his university from unknown causes. Come on." Rip said simply, walking out.

"Are you coming?" Stein asked Jax.

"I'll stay put." Jax replied angrily.

"You'd rather stay with them?"

"They didn't drug me."

"Point taken." with that, Stein followed the others.

"If it makes you feel better, I could drug you." I said, to which Jax gave me a "Really?" look.

As we sat, I took the time to really look at half of my new team. Sara was the beautiful blonde with just the right amount of badass that made her extremely attractive. Mick was a strong brute who obviously fell in love with fire rather than a woman. Snart was the intelligent thief who was icy cold. Jax, one half of firestorm, was just a kid who must've fallen with the wrong crew to be in a room with us. As I looked back through them, I saw Snart staring at me.

"Take a picture, Snart, it'll last longer." I teased and he smirked.

"Just wondering why there's heart eyes on your mask." he said, looking away. I covered my mask.

"Are there really?" I asked, knowing that I'd programmed it with many different emotions.

"He's messing with you." Sara said and I glared, looking down at my feet.

"Jerk."

After a while, I had got bored and stood up, along with others. Mick started watching TV and Snart just sat there looking like an edgy teenager. Sara walked with me while Jax sat by Snart. I ended up using my powers to create a ball that I bounced off the wall.

"Why does this stupid station play nothing but reruns?" Mick asked after a while, making me mentally facepalm myself.

"Don't even bother trying to explain." Jax said and I let out a small laugh.

"Am I the only one on this ship who could really use a drink?" Sara asked. "I say we go get weird in the '70s." Snart spun around, looking at Sara.

"Excellent idea." he said, standing up and beginning to walk away.

"I got the perfect outfit." Sara said and the ball disappeared as we all started walking to get changed.

"Perhaps Captain Hunter was unclear with his instructions to remain onboard." Gideon said.

"Shut it, metal mouth." Mick snapped.

"Oh," Snart turned to Jax, "you're not quite ready to run with this crew. Sorry kid." I heard them argue as I walked off with Sara.

I threw on my studded leather vest over my black hoodie. I threw my hood over my short hair (which was particularly new to me) and I would almost be mistaken for a man if it wasn't for my body.

We easily found a bar and I was having fun for once, talking with Snart and Sara while Mick got drinks.

"Ah. Dollar beers. You got to love the '70s." he said, walking to us and handing us each a beer. I smiled and started sneaking sips under my mask happily. "Who wants to listen to some Captain and Tennille? My mother played it. A lot." Mick said, walking to the jukebox while taking a drink.

"I'm gonna dance, care to join me?" I asked Sara and Snart. Sara waved me off.

"Maybe in a minute." she said and I looked at Snart.

"You go right ahead, I'll watch." he said and I shrugged, handing Snart my beer before walking to the dancefloor and starting to dance to the music Mick had put on. Soon Sara joined me and I smiled.

"So why the mask?" she asked and I looked down.

"Hides my identity." I said simply.

"No one here's gonna care about who you are, Fae." she said, "You're free to take it off whenever you want."

"Maybe one day." Not two minutes into our dance, a man walked over to us.

"Can we help you?" Sara asked.

"Mm. How about you join me in the parking lot?" he asked Sara. I backed up to Snart, watching, and took my beer from him, sneaking few more sips in under my mask.

"Hmm, tempting, but you're not my type. But your lady, on the other hand, well, she looks just my speed." she answered and I grinned.

"Maybe you didn't understand my request, bitch." He said and I glared. That was rude. He took her by the hand and she easily bent his arm back, breaking it. He let out a shout of pain. Sara turned back to us.

"I got this." she assured us and I smiled. She began fighting with the brute, going so fast I lost track of how many punches were thrown. It was when a few others started joining the fight that she turned back to us. "Now I could stand for a little help." she said and I grinned, smashing my bottle over some goon's head. I grinned and started throwing punches, forming my sledgehammer and beating anyone who came my way.

"This is what I've been waiting for!" I shouted happily, swinging at people.

101

After our fun little bar brawl, we went back to the ship, having a little run in with some guy from the future in a black outfit. Mick hit him with the car.

"We go out for one lousy drink, and you guys somehow manage to pick a fight with Boba Fett!" Snart shouted as we got out of the car and I groaned, forming my sledgehammer once more, throwing it at the guy, stretching my black smoke. He caught it and my eyes widened before I pulled it back into my hands and let it disappear.

"I'm out." I said, letting black smoke engulf me and pull me towards the ship, seeing someone new on the ground. I could see he was bleeding as the two hawk people flew up to him. I dropped in front of them all and held out a hand to the guy, who I recognized as the man they were supposed to meet, Professor Boardman. "I got him, go fight." I shouted and they nodded and flew away. I picked up the man and myself with my smoke and let it take us to the wave rider.

"W-Who are you?" he asked.

"My name's Fae, you must be Professor Boardman." I said and he nodded. "I'd say nice to meet you, but this really isn't a good time. I can look at your wound if you want." I said and he moved his hand. It was a deep wound and I bit my lip, knowing he probably wouldn't be able to recover. We made it into the wave rider and my black smoke disappeared.

"Professor Boardman has sustained severe internal injuries." Gideon said.

"Thanks Captain Obvious." I muttered.

"Prepare the MedBay to receive Professor Boardman and get us out of here!" Rip shouted, walking away. I wrapped my smoke around his injury, letting it solidify to try and stop the bleeding.

"Course heading?" Gideon asked.

"Anywhere but here!" Rip shouted as the rest of us followed him. The ship started moving and I looked around.

"There's a MedBay?"

101

We got settled and I was on Sara's lap once again. Professor Boardman was in the MedBay and I was talking with Sara.

"I could get used to this." I joked and she smiled.

"Our cloaking shield and aft entrance have been significantly compromised, Captain." Gideon said as Rip quickly pressed buttons.

"Yes, I can see that, Gideon." Rip said, standing up, as did everyone else. "Station us in the temporal zone while I work on repairs."

"Temporal zone?" Ray asked.

"Yeah, it's essentially a time limbo. We can hide out there for a bit. Another temporal jump would risk revealing our position." Rip said, walking around and getting things together.

"A time limbo? Astonishing." Stein said happily.

"Oh, there's something you people don't know about time travel? That's surprising isn't it? Considering none of you have ever time traveled before!" he shouted at us angrily.

"To be fair we've all time traveled at least once now." I corrected and he glared at me, to which I held up my hands in defense.

"Bringing a family member from the past onto a timeship? Breaking out and carousing around the 1970s? We've barely begun, and this is already the worst, unmitigated disaster of my career." As soon as he finished, Kendra punched him.

"Nice one Kendra!" I said happily as Mick laughed and walked up to Carter.

"I see why you got the hots for that one." he whispered to him. Kendra pushed Rip to the wall.

"My son is hurt because of you! Who attacked us?" she asked.

"That's something of a long story." Rip answered and Snart stood up from his seat.

"Better tell it fast, Rip, cause it doesn't look like the lady's in a patient mood." he said and Carter walked up to them.

"Neither am I."

"Am I the only one confused by the fact that they have a son?" I asked, looking around.

"Aldus is past Kendra and Carter's son." Ray explained quickly and I nodded, making an o shape with my lips as I looked back to them.

"His name is Chronos. He works for the council of Time Masters." Rip said and Kendra let go of him. "My former employers."

"Awkward." I dragged out.

"I thought you were a Time Master." Sara said, walking towards the group.

"As I've expressed, time's not a linear thing. At some point, I was, in fact, a time master." He walked up to Sara, who punched him.

"Can I play "Punch the Rip"?" I asked, walking up to him.

"Will you people please stop hitting me?" He yelled and I jumped back.

"Start telling the truth!" Sara shouted. Rip held his hands up as if he didn't know what to say.

"I relinquished my position as a Time Master when I commandeered the Waverider. Chronos was clearly sent to bring me in." Rip said, almost sadly.

"You lied to us." Stein said, hurt as it was obvious everyone was.

"Of course I lied to you. I needed your help - you all barely said yes as it was." he said.

"What about the legends part?" Jax asked. Rip stiffened and I sighed, looking down.

"Ooh, you lied about that too, didn't you?" Snart asked.

"I chose you all because, a hundred of years from now, your lives have minimal effect on the recorded timeline. I needed your help without disturbing the history of 2166."

"So, we're like the opposite of Legends." Jax said.

"We're a bunch of unimportant nobodies. Useless wannabes." I said, angry tears welling up in my eyes as I stormed away and down the hallways. As soon as I was away from them, I took my mask off, finally revealing my face as it powered down. I found a room away from everyone and threw my mask across the room with a shout of frustration. I began destroying things, throwing things across the room. Once I had no more rage left in me, I sat down on one of the cargo boxes, pulling my knees to my chest. It wasn't like I wasn't already feeling useless, (note the sarcasm). Knowing that I had no effect on anything hurt worse than any physical feeling I'd felt in years. I was useless in this life. I felt the tears slide down my face and I couldn't help but feel weak in that moment.

I was dead, now and forever. It was in that moment that I knew I'd never be able to live.

101

It didn't take long for someone to find me. I quickly pulled up my hood, looking down to cover my face. I could see the feet of the people. Ray, Sara, Snart, and Mick.

"What do you know, she's here." I heard Mick.

"Hey, you okay?" Ray asked as he came and sat by me. I nodded and looked at my mask on the other side of the room. I knew he couldn't see my face so I pointed to it. Everyone's eyes met where I pointed and Sara walked to it, picking it up.

"You took this off?" she asked.

"I couldn't bear to wear it any longer. Can I have it back?" I asked and she walked over to me, putting it in my hand. I could tell they were shocked at my actual voice, and how scared I sounded. I motioned for everyone to look away and Ray did immediately. Sara took a minute, but did, Snart put his hand over Micks eyes, but never took his own eyes off me. I sighed and turned around, looking up and attaching the mask to my face again, giving it a second to power up before turning back around. "Why are you guys here?" I asked, my robotic voice back. They all looked at me again.

"I like the actual voice better." Mick said to no one in particular. I rolled my eyes.

"We came to look for you." Ray said sweetly. I doubted him.

"They did, Mick and I were just looking for a place to think." Snart said.

"That's cold." I said with a small smirk. "So what'd I miss when I, uh, left?" I asked.

"You mean stormed off?" Sara asked, "Not much. Rip had a family and Savage killed them. His wife and son." she explained and I looked down, sitting back down.

"I'm sorry for storming off like that." I apologized.

"It's okay. I mean, you had your reasons." Ray said and I smiled at him.

"So, what now?"

After a little bit of silence and Ray trying to fix his suit, and accidentally shooting it at us, he finally spoke up.

"What's the point of us even giving this a second thought?" he asked, "Rip has already seen the future. He knows exactly what's in store for each of us. Might as well of stayed dead, cause the world doesn't need any of us. You're just a lost assassin. You're just a masked sadist. You're just a pair of good-for-nothing criminals."

"I can live with that." Mick said, going back to tampering with his gun.

"Well, I can't. Can't live with someone putting a cap on my destiny. Spent my whole life working to be something greater by becoming something smaller. Then some guy comes along and tells me that being the Atom is as insignificant as an actual atom." Ray said and I looked down sadly. Ray seemed to have given up hope just as I had.

"That's not what he said." Sara said, standing up and walking over to Ray. "Rip said that in his future we're nobodies, but this mission is about changing the future. I mean, if we have the power to change the world, don't you think we have the power to change our own fate?" Sara asked and I smiled.

"For better or for worse." Snart said, smiling.

"That's a very good point." Ray added.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" I stood up, looking at them all.

101

We all walked back to the control room, meeting up with Jax and Professor Stein. I could hear Rip talking to Carter and Kendra as we walked in.

"-Time wants to happen. Chronos, even Vandal, won't be the only enemy we'll face. Very often it'll be time itself." he said and looked at me. "Are you okay, C-Fae?" he asked and I nodded.

"Whether it wants to happen or not, we're gonna change time, erase Savage's future, and earn our rightful place in history." Ray said and I smiled.

"Dr. Palmer is correct. We may not be legends in your time, Captain, but we are going to decide our own fates." Stein said and I smiled.

"I don't give a damn about being a legend, as long as we end Savage once and for all." Carter said.

"I can get down with that." Jax added.

"And our malcontents?" Stein asked, and everyone looked at Snart and Rory.

"I like killing people." Mick said.

"We're in. For now." Snart said and I grinned.

"Go team!" I shouted and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. "Okay, I'm never doing that again." I said, looking down.

"So how do we find this guy?" Sara asked, walking up to Rip while he sat in his window seat.

"Professor Boardman had a theory about that. I've already had Gideon plot a course." He said, strapping in for what was going to be one of the biggest adventure's of all our lives.
