Chapter Fifteen: My Angel
"I was right! But does anyone ever listen to me? No. I'm just silly ol' Cassie, here for no reason apparently!" I shouted, angry at them and proud of myself.
"Yes, Cassie, okay, you were right and we should've listened to you, but for one minute can we set the blame aside?" Ray asked, his voice soft. I nodded slowly and crossed my arms, sitting down in my cell. Stein began coughing and it didn't seem like he would stop soon, so I looked on him in pity.
"Martin, are you okay?" Kendra asked worriedly. I knew that him being apart from Jax must have been hard on him, emotionally and physically.
"I'm required to merge with Jefferson...periodically in order to maintain nuclear cohesion." he said, sounding out of breath. Basically, if he didn't merge with Jax every now and then, he'd explode.
"Then sending him away on the Jumpship probably wasn't the greatest idea." Mick said in annoyance, pacing around in his cell.
"Given the circumstances we're under, I'm surprised any of us are alive." Martin said and I sighed. That definitely wouldn't last long.
"Oh, you'll be dead soon." Mick said; I looked at the ground. I didn't want to die, not now, "You're getting off easy." Mick stated and it was then that I remembered that he was Chronos-that they turned him into Chronos. I guessed they'd do it again and keep him as their little pet.
"What gives you the free pass?" Ray asked semi-sarcastically.
"They have other plans for me."
"Chronos." I said, looking up at him finally. He had his back turned to us.
"They're gonna try and put me through the induction process again." he explained. I felt a frown overtake my face. Sure, Mick was rude and rough around the edges, but he was a part of the team and no matter how much he screwed up before, I did care about him as I did the rest of them. I considered them all my family.
"Brainwashing?" Stein asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. It surprised me that he'd use such a simple word for that, but I would too if I were dying.
"Kills most men, Professor. And those that don't die, end up like mindless goats." Mick said and I bit my lip.
"But you weren't mindless when you were Chronos, not really." I said questionably, lifting my knee and resting my arm on it as I looked at him for answers.
"No more than usual, anyway." Kendra said and I rolled my eyes. We really gonna go there? Now? Mick scoffed with a smile on his face.
"The whole time, I stayed focused on one thing. The one thing that kept me sane... Vengeance." he said and I looked down almost shamefully, although I wasn't the one with shame, "I focused on how much I hated all of you." he continued.
Four storm trouper guard guys walked in as he finished and I got to my feet quickly. I glared at them with a rage unlike any other I'd experienced. It wasn't a loathe like I felt for Tiffany or Kyle or her. It wasn't mixed feelings like with Malcolm Merlyn and Slade Wilson, it was more like pity. Pity because they genuinely thought they were doing something to benefit the world, and all they were doing was helping one man destroy it.
"Ah, gentlemen, I missed you. Come on it." Mick said, outstretching his arms as though he was happy to see them. We all knew what came next. The barrier to our cells seemed to power down and it would have been a perfect time to escape, if there weren't armed guards waiting everywhere. Two of them went to Mick and two of them went to Kendra and I furrowed my eyebrows, "Ah, that's it, oh, yeah, break my arm." Mick groaned as they escorted him away. I watched them for a second before looking back at Kendra.
"Hey, what are you doing? Why are you taking her?" Ray asked defensively.
"Savage." I said with a bored tone as I looked back at Mick, "Mick, I believe in you!" I called out and he looked back at me before disappearing through the doorway.
"Hey!" Ray called after the people taking Kendra. They got halfway down before wings spread from her back and she hawked out. The wings sent the guards flying back and I smiled. She turned and kicked one of them, knocking the gun out of his hands before flipping over him and throwing him across the room.
"Awesome." I whispered, watching her carefully, "You gotta teach me some moves, girl."
Before she could reply, the guard behind her shot her with his laser and I glared at him. She fell to the ground, most likely unconscious and not dead because, well, that was Savage's job.
"Hey!" Ray shouted, calling after her as they dragged her away. I sighed in defeat and plopped back down in my cell, putting my head in my hands as I popped off my mask.

You ever seen a picture of a rabbit or a rat or something caged, and they look all content because that's what they're used to? And then you look at a dog or a cat in a pound and they just look... Hopeless.
That was us...right now... Hopeless.
Soon, Rip was escorted back into the room, his head down in shame or depression. I stood up and ran to the end of my cell.
"Rip? You okay?" I asked worriedly.
"Oh, my God, they've tortured him." Stein said and I shook my head. They couldn't have. What would they want from him? He sulked back into his cell and I looked at him in sadness.
"What did they do to you?" Ray asked. Rip looked up slightly, not looking directly at anyone.
"They showed me the truth." he said softly, "Druce showed me something called the Oculus. They've been controlling us all. Nothing we've done so far has been of our own accord. We've been following a script laid out by the Time Masters." Rip explained and I chuckled nervously, shaking my head.
"No, that...no." I said in disbelief.
"That's-that's not possible. I-I refuse to believe that." Ray said.
"Me too." I agreed, staring at him with furrowed eyebrows.
"Well, you should, Raymond, Cassie... Because they showed me your deaths." he said and my eyes widened, "I'm sorry."

I began to wonder how I'd die. As a teenager, I never thought I would live over the age of 16, much less 18, and now I was 29 and I actually had to think about the thought that I wouldn't live much longer. I wondered if I died with Ray, or saving someone else. I doubted Rip would tell me.
"I can't just stand around here and wait to die." Ray said and I huffed a laugh since we literally didn't have a choice.
"Well, if it's any consolation, you're not alone." Stein said and I sighed.
"It's not like we have a choice." I said, leaning against the wall.
"Oh, you two are giving up too?" Ray asked us and I held out my arms in a "what else" gesture.
"Well, let's just review our situation, shall we, Raymond? They're turning Mr. Rory back into Chronos, I-I'm about to have a nuclear meltdown-" Stein started.
"And our Captain thinks that our future is already written for us." Ray cut him off and I nodded, holding a hand out to him.
"Exactly."
"You know what I think? I think you're all quitters." Ray said and I snorted.
"There's no escape from either these cells or from the future." Rip said sadly and I banged my head on the back of the cell in slight anger.
"Face the facts, Raymond. We're completely out of allies." Stein said and my eyes widened before I sat up.
"Sara and Snart." I said, hoping that they were coming to get us instead of flying off. No matter what Snart said or seemed like, even if he wanted to, I doubt Sara would let him abandon the team.
"As long as they're on the loose, we still have a chance."

In what I believed to be my final hours of life, I began to remember a lot. I remembered my time with Oliver and Barry, how I'd visit them both frequently, but was never really attached to either teams. I knew what was going on constantly, and I helped occasionally, but I was more of a drifter. I remembered growing up with Natasha and seeing her smile every time I'd bring home a cupcake and hide it past our foster mom. I remembered getting adopted by Moira Queen and my first day with them. Thea kept trying to become my friend and Oliver more or less ignored me, but I could tell a lot was on his mind then. I remembered my first job when I got back from Lian Yu, to kill Oliver and how it turned sideways.
Then I remembered the more recent events. I remembered the day I was recruited to join the Legends and my hesitation to do so. I remembered the day I really met the team, other than Sara and Ray, who I'd already known. I remembered the first few weeks of being on the Wave Rider and how I had to sit on Sara's lap. I remembered my first kiss with Snart and quite possibly my last. I remembered sitting with him while we watched Pinocchio as he explained why he wore his pinky ring that I was so curious about.
A reminder that even the best laid plans can go sideways.
Then I remembered my feelings for him and the rest of the team. No matter how much I hated the word, the feeling, and never ever intended to use it, I loved them all. They were all my family, my home.
So when Druce walked in, I felt a sort of rage. I wanted to punch the lights out of him. I quickly rose to my feet and walked to the edge of my cell, growling as I stared at him through my mask.
"Your friends have time-jumped away. We've lost them. And I've lost any reason to keep you alive." he said and I rolled my eyes.
"Like you were going to keep us alive anyways." I muttered.
"Hold on, let's just talk about this a moment." Ray said and I snapped my head to look at him. You don't plead and beg the enemy, you look them in the eye while you die with pride.
"Time Master Druce." A guard said, running in. I looked at him and glared.
"Kill them all." Druce raised his hand and pointed at Rip, "Starting with him."
"Yes, sir. But we've calculated when the Wave Rider is headed." the guard said and Druce looked at him, intrigued.
"Past or future?" he asked.
"The present." the guard said and everything began rumbling as a blast of blue fire shot the guard. Snart walked in, all decked out in goggles and walked up to Druce, hitting him with his cold gun.
"Somebody order up a rescue?" he asked and I let out a breath of relief.
"I have never loved you more." I said before coughing, "Loved to see you more, like as in I've never wanted to see you mor-let us out." I stopped myself from rambling and he smirked.
"Mr. Snart, your timing is impeccable." Stein said and I grinned.
"Or not." Ray said and I looked at him before looking at what he was staring at. Snart turned and held up his gun as Chronos walked in and my eyes widened.
"Mick." I whispered. Chronos held up his gun and slowly moved closer to Snart.
"Put the gun down, Mick." Snart ordered. Another Time Master ran in and I glared at him.
"You did this." I growled, wanting to fight against the cell, but I knew I'd just get blasted back. I'd tried before.
"Chronos, fire." he ordered and Chronos got ready to fire. I stared at the three intensely, biting my lip under my mask.
"Sure thing." Chronos said, his mask making his voice robotic as mine did to me. He then turned to the Time Master and did as he said; he fired. The Time Master blew back, almost in a cartwheel formation and I couldn't help but giggle. Mick took off the mask and I grinned as he began inching closer to the Time Master, "If I recall, I made you a certain promise." he said slowly as the Time Master tried to get away, too weak to even stand. I smirked, watching him in pain.
"No, I beg of you." he begged and I rolled my eyes. Like I said before, you can die weak with begging and pleading, or you can die proud by looking your killer in the eye. This guy, along with the rest of the Time Masters, were weak. Mick lifted his foot up, "No!" he pleaded as Mick slammed his boot down on his head and I heard it crack as I stared at it, a grin on my face. I saw Snart grimace and Mick looked around, as did I.
"Hey, so, big moment, I know, but do you know how to open these cells?" I asked, knocking on the cell's wall.

I walked onto the Bridge with Mick while Rip and Ray ran in from the opposite side. I saw Sara sitting in the Captain's seat and smiled. We'd all had a small reunion with Snart and Mick, and now it was time to get back to work.
"Where's everyone else?" Sara asked after turning back to us.
"Uh, Mr. Snart is helping the Professor get situated in the MedBay." Rip said as we walked up to the jump seats and I grinned, looking at the computer table, feeling like I hadn't seen it in forever.
"He's not doing so hot without his nuclear super-half." Ray said.
"Get me out of this stupid robot suit!" Mick yelled angrily and I rolled my eyes, tearing my mask off and throwing it on a seat.
"First get us the hell out of here... Gideon?" Rip asked and I remembered that Gideon had apparently gone off-line before we were taken by the Time Masters.
"I'm here, Captain, and if I could take a moment to add how wonderful it feels to be back together." Gideon said and I smiled. I watched Ray try to reach for Mick's suit to look at it and Mick held up his hand as if to slap Ray, who jumped back. I quickly put my hand over Mick's to stop him and he huffed, putting it down. I couldn't help but laugh quietly.
"I have missed you too." Rip said.
"Now that we've had our reunion, I should mention we have a slight problem." Gideon said and my smile dropped.
"What?" I asked, looking at the screen on the computer table.
"Uh, the Time Masters are locking onto us with a tractor beam." Ray said and I tried to think of a way to get out of it.
"Punch it, Gideon." Sara ordered and I turned to Mick, "Sorry, your job." Sara apologized to Rip.
"No, Ms. Lance, stay right where you are. You've proven yourself quite adept at piloting this ship." Rip said, running to the side of the room and punching buttons into another little table thing.
"About the tractor beam." Mick said.
"Give me your robot glove." I said and he gave me a funny look before doing as I said.
"Dr. Palmer and Ms. Carlisle are going to help me remotely disable it." Rip said as I looked over the glove.
"On it." I said, looking through the controls on the small keypad screen of the glove, and finding exactly what I was looking for while Ray came to my side to look over my shoulder.
"I've already established an uplink to the omni-matrix mainframe, Captain." Gideon said and I tried to think of something to boost Ray's mind.
"The Time Masters are evil, but they're not dumb. There's no way they're gonna let Gideon override the tractor beam remotely." Ray said before the ship began shaking and rumbling and I looked around before back to the glove.
"Whatever you're gonna do, you better do it now. They've locked on." Sara said and I nodded.
"What if we can convince the system that the override command is coming from someone else, someone they trust?" I asked, already typing commands in Chronos' operating system, which was in the glove, hence why I had asked him for it.
"I'm "hot-swapping" Mr. Rory's hard drive as we speak." Gideon said and I heard a beeping, but I didn't stop what I was doing. I moved my fingers as fast as I could across the keypad, using one hand to hold it in place.
"Whatever you're doing, do it faster." Sara said nervously as I finished.
"Voila!" I said, throwing my hands in the air, "Qui peut le faire? Je peux le faire!" I shouted, finally using two years of French class. I looked at the screen on the wall to see that the tractor beam had listened to the commands and let go of us and grinned, biting my lip.
"Now, Sara!" Rip shouted and Sara pushed the lever beside her. With that, the Wave Rider was off.

"Professor's in the MedBay. Promise's not to blow up while he's onboard, which I thought was considerate." Snart said, walking into the Bridge. I smiled at him and he sent me a small smile back.
"Yeah, the Professor's condition is the least of our worries, I'm afraid." Rip said and it was then that I remembered Ray and I were pretty much destined to die. I frowned and looked down.
"Yeah, much to my chagrin, it turns out everything we've done, maybe even our whole lives, has been determined by the Time Masters." Ray said and I nodded.
"What?" Sara asked, confused.
"The Time Masters have this thing called the Oculus, which allows them not only to gaze into the future, but to engineer it." Rip explained and I looked up.
"Ray and I are going to die." I blurted out, trying not to show my fear and they all looked at me.
"Why would they want the two of you dead?" Sara asked.
"Not sure about her, but have you ever listened to what comes out of his mouth?" Mick asked and I rolled my eyes.
"Now, in my opinion, Dr. Palmer's and Ms. Carlisle's deaths are not part of their plan." Rip said as if trying to reassure the team and I looked at him with furrowed eyebrows yet eyes wide.
"Really guy?" I asked, holding my arms out in a "really" gesture.
"No, that's not reassuring." Ray said and I held out a hand to him as Mick walked up to him and slapped his shoulder, "Ow!" Ray exclaimed as Mick turned to Rip.
"You saying the Time Masters wanted me to do that?" he asked and I rolled my eyes. Of course.
"What I'm saying is that they've been engineering our lives to move in very specific directions. And we are playing out that script even now." Rip tried to explain and I nodded.
"So we can go to 2016, but that might be what the Time Masters want. Or we can go get Kendra and Carter-" Sara started, standing from the window seat and walking over to us.
"Which could also be what they want." Snart cut her off and I sighed, looking down at my feet.
"Then we need to do what they don't want." Ray said and looked at me and I immediately understood what he meant, snapping at him and nodding before turning to the rest of the team.
"Think about it, if the Oculus is what they use to control us-to control time-then let's destroy it. I'm in the mood for a good bashing." I said, smiling. It was a way for us not to die.
"But how do we do that if the Time Bastards are pulling our strings?" Snart asked, looking at me before glancing at the rest of the team.
"Well, Druce told me that the Oculus' ability to control our actions doesn't work in the Vanishing Point, most likely because the Vanishing Point itself exists outside of time." Rip explained and I nodded, making a face that basically meant "makes sense".
"Explains why we were able to escape." Mick said.
"And why we might actually have a shot at destroying this thing." Sara added. I looked at them all, smiling, "I'm with Cass." she said and slapped my shoulder. I winced and looked at her, slightly offended, but didn't say anything.
"If I'm gonna be someone's puppet, I'm gonna be the one who cuts his own bloody strings." Rip said and I grinned.
"And I like blowing stuff up." Mick added.
"Seconded." I raised my hand.
"We set out on this mission to stop Savage and save the world. To become Legends and change our fates. That mission hasn't changed." Ray stated to which I nodded.
"This is madness." Snart said, walking up to the computer table between Mick and Ray. Everyone looked at him, "I like it." he smirked and I grinned. Rip let out a breath.
"Gideon, plot a course to the Oculus Wellspring." Rip ordered, "Team... I think it's about time we seized our destinies back."

Ray and I were in the kitchen again, binging on cupcakes and other various junk foods. I decided since he wasn't normally one for junk, I'd show him the good junk. I'd already decided that after cupcakes we'd go to funnel cake.
I really just wanted to catch up. Ray and I had been semi-close in Star city and I missed being able to talk to him. I'd already let him know about my fear of death now that we were alone, and he let me know that I wasn't alone.
"Everyone's afraid of dying." he had said, "Just some people show it differently. Just like everyone cares, but they have different ways of showing it."
And as if on instinct, Mick walked in. He hummed as he saw us both binging and I held up a peace sign without looking back at him. He walked to the opposite side of the table and I looked at him, getting an idea. I was gonna die anyway.
"If we're gonna die, no sense watching our diets, right?" I asked and took another bite of the cupcake.
"The Time Masters have been known to make mistakes, you know?" Mick asked and I shrugged.
"But what if those mistakes were all part of their plan?" Ray asked. I bit my lip, not wanting to think about it, "Actually, I gotta stop thinking about it. The temporal implications are infinite." Ray added as Mick picked up a cupcake.
"That's why I don't think." he said, taking a bite of the cupcake, practically shoving half the thing in his mouth as I looked on in awe.
"Not bad, right?" Ray asked and I grinned.
"Good." Mick replied with a mouth full.
"Wish I could actually cook on this thing. Homemade is probably better than fabricated, right?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You can cook?" Mick asked.
"And you never told me?" Ray added and I nodded slowly before shaking my head.
"Moving on, Mick." I said and he seemed to pipe up at me saying his name as he looked at me, "How'd you do it?" I asked and he just gave me a confused look.
"Do what?" he asked after finishing the cupcake.
"How did you not turn into Chronos?" I rephrased.
"You said the only way you held onto yourself the first time was by focusing on your hate." Ray added what I wanted to say.
"What did I focus on this time?" Mick asked and Ray and I nodded, "The team." he said, looking away.
"And how much you love us?" I asked teasingly, resting my chin in the palms of my hands as I tilted my head to the side and looked up at him. He rolled his eyes at me while Ray chuckled. Mick turned around.
"I thought about how royally screwed you'd be without me. My point being, if I can survive not being turned into Chronos, you two can survive anything they throw at you." he said, walking a few steps away before turning around, still not looking at us. I leaned closer to Ray.
"Such a romantic, this one." I joked and Ray smiled.
"Thanks, Mick. We'll keep it in mind, right Cassie?" Ray asked, treating me like a five-year-old who needed to say sorry for kicking someone on a playground. I rolled my eyes.
"Right mom." I muttered, yet smiled.
"Well, you better because if either of you tell the team I actually care, I'll shave your head," he said to Ray and looked at me, "and bleach your vest." he threatened. I rolled my eyes and nodded.
"Such a flirt." I said, trying not to laugh as he grabbed another cupcake and began to leave, "Oh, wait, Mick!" I said, grabbing a cupcake and ran up to him. He gave me a confused look and I smirked.
"What?" He asked and I rubbed the icing from the cupcake on his nose before running to Ray and doing the same to him. I grabbed another cupcake and ran out before they could get me and potentially beat the crap out of me.
As I ran into the hallway, I bumped into someone and looked up to see Snart with a deck of cards in his hands. I grabbed him by his jacket and hid behind a corner as Ray and Mick ran past, looking for me with icing still on their noses. Once they were gone, I backed away from Snart and grinned up at him.
"What'd you do to piss them off?" he asked, his eyes wandering to where they had ran before looking at the cupcakes in my hands.
"This." I said and rubbed icing on his nose. He chuckled and rubbed it off with a finger, sucking it off his finger and humming.
"Strawberry icing?" he asked and I grinned, nodding. He nodded and took the cupcake with more icing on it, taking a bite before rubbing it on my face, specifically on my lips. I rolled my eyes and was about to lick it off when he pressed his lips to mine. My eyes widened, even though we'd kissed multiple times before, I didn't expect it.
We pulled back after a while and I wiped the excess icing off my face as he stared into my eyes before smirking.
"My favorite." he said in a way that would send chills up anyone's spine. Without another word, he turned and walked away, leaving me there and shocked.

"Based on Captain Hunter's description, the Oculus is a massive temporal computer, most likely powered by a scaled-down supernova contained at the bottom of the Wellspring." Stein explained as we walked into the Cargo Bay. We had reached the Oculus, now all we had to do is destroy it. I popped my mask on and pulled on my vest, nervous yet ready, "Why aren't any of you more excited by this?" Stein asked when no one said anything.
"We're excited to blow it up." Sara said and I shrugged.
"Dr. Palmer and Ms. Carlisle will deactivate the core contained supernova, which should create an anomalistic event." Rip said and everyone seemed to look at him in confusion and I rolled my eyes.
"Bad thing go boom." I explained in baby talk, doing hand motions.
"Sounds like a plan." Mick agreed and I smiled. The ship started rumbling and shook as the lights went red. Mick opened the door to the cargo bay and we all looked outside. I let out a shaky breath, reminding myself that we can change our destinies.
I formed my sledgehammer, Snart and Mick held up their guns, and we walked out. As I was walking, Rip slowed down slightly to stand next to me.
"Never, ever, take off your mask." he warned and I looked up at him worriedly before nodding as he walked back to the front.
We walked down the streets, as if in formation. We got far before Druce and multiple guards got in our way.
"Hello again, Rip." he greeted and I rolled my eyes, "Right on schedule." storm trouper looking guards continued to surround us; they were everywhere I looked.
"Uh, I think we've walked into a trap." Ray said and Druce shook his stupid fat head.
"No, it's destiny." he argued and I made a gagging sound, "I must say you've all played your parts well. As with everything else you've done, I'm afraid it was all for nothing."
"All your posturing. All your claims about doing what's best for the timeline, about protecting history, and it all comes down to cold blooded murder." Rip said, annoyed.
"The difference between murder and execution is only a matter of authority. I have it. You don't. Kill them." Druce ordered his goons and I rolled my eyes as if that was going to happen. I heard the guns begin to power up and we were almost dead meat until lasers began firing from somewhere else. We all quickly ducked, but I looked up to see a very familiar Jumpship. It shot down pretty much all of the guards before landing nearby and I grinned. We all stood up and watched as Jax walked out of the Jumpship.
"Hope I'm not too late." He said, to which I smiled.
"No, Jefferson, you're right on time." Stein said happily and they clasped their hands together, merging.
"How did you..." Rip started.
"What? You thought you were the only one who knew a thing or two about time travel?" Jax asked with playful attitude. I snorted.
"Good work. We need to get to the Oculus before reinforcements arrive." Rip said and we all began running to the Oculus.
We made it inside in no time and I looked in awe as I saw the Oculus. It was a big machine looking thing over a ring of what looked like blue-green fire, which I was guessing was the supernova Stein had talked about. It was beautiful, as terrible of a creation it was. Ray, Rip and I ran to it to get started. Ray opened it and looked in.
"Take about two minutes to figure out how to self destruct this thing." Ray said, looking back at them as I studied the wiring. Come on hacker engineer skills, I know you can do this.
"We'll buy you some time. You lot guard the entrance. Mr. Rory, you're with me." Rip ordered and they all did as told.
I stared at the wiring while Ray messed with it and my eyes went wide.
"Hurry up, haircut." Mick rushed.
"How much longer?" Rip asked as I made sure my calculations were correct.
"Well, just about to reverse the polarity matrix. Once I do that, I'd say we have about to minutes before this whole place goes boom." Ray said.
"How big of a boom?" Mick asked.
"On a scale of one to ten... a googleplex." Ray said and sighed, taking off his helmet. Rip looked at him, his eyes going wide as he leaned over.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"I can't work with all this gear on." Ray groaned.
"You can't." Rip said as Ray took off his gloves as well.
"A programmer needs his hands." Ray said.
"Ray..." Rip said and I realized that he was trying to warn Ray.
"Move." I said and he gave me a confused look.
"Why?" he asked.
"Because if you do this, you're going to die, plus, I can do it all in half the time you can so move." I said and he stared at me.
"No. It's okay. All my life, I've wanted to make a difference. Creating a future for you guys without the Time Masters influence, that counts." he said, pressing buttons on the control panel on his arm guard. I began to hear people speaking and looked over the Oculus as a laser fired and I quickly ducked, my eyes going wide, "That said, I'm in no rush to die, so keep 'em off me, okay?" Ray asked and I nodded, forming my sledgehammer once again. I let smoke wrap around it as I threw it at the storm trouper guards.
"We got you." Mick said, powering up his gun before shooting at a guard. We fought as more and more guards piled in and I ended up running into the field, slamming my sledgehammer down on people. After knocking one guard down, I turned to face another one, who hit me with their gun. I grunted as my mask knocked off my face and I went to pick it back up before another guard stepped on it, crushing it to pieces. My eyes widened as rage filled me and I growled, swinging my hammer and slamming one into the other before they went down to the ground.
"Cassie! Get out of here!" Rip said, noticing that my mask was off. I nodded and ran out of the room, joining the rest of the team outside.
I was met with Snart shooting another guard as Sara knocked one with her sticks.
"What happened to your mask?" Snart asked, noticing me.
"Some bastard smashed it. Rip told me to come out here so I don't die." I shrugged and bashed another guy before turning back to him and smiling a fake smile.
I kept bashing guys until Rip ran out and I looked behind him for Ray or Mick.
"Where's Raymond and Mick?" Snart asked after blasting a guy.
"Ray is in my pocket and Mick has elected to stay." Rip explained and I remembered what I had noticed earlier that caused my eyes to go wide. There's a failsafe on the Oculus, meaning someone has to be there so that it will explode.
"Why?" Snart asked angrily.
"Someone needs to be present to destroy the Oculus. Mick has elected himself." Rip explained and Snart made a face that I did not like the look of as he ran into the building, Sara following, as did I. Or at least, I tried to, but Rip pulled me back, "You will die if you go in there again." he warned and I bit my lip, looking down before back up to him.
"I can't leave them." I said and ran after them, inside the building as Rip and Jax called after us.
Sara was shooting the guards with Snart's gun as Snart talked to Mick. I couldn't hear what they were saying until I got closer.
"-Not without you, Mick!" Snart said and I stood nearby the platform.
"Pretty boy said I gotta hold this stick for the ship to blow. So I'm holding this stick. Now leave!" Mick shouted at Snart as Len took off his goggles. I didn't hear what Snart said after that as something exploded behind them, but the next thing I knew Snart had knocked out Mick... Again. I finally ran up the board as he began holding the stick and I looked at him.
"You can't." I said, my voice shaking as I knew what he was going to do.
"Watch me." he said and I shook my head.
"I can't lose you." I said, tears in my eyes that threatened to fall as I stared into his eyes, "I love you." I said softly and he smiled before leaning over and kissing me. I felt something fall into my pocket, but I didn't care. In that moment I just wanted him. I would have died for him, but it seemed that the tables had turned. I pulled back slowly and looked into his eyes again.
"And I, you, my angel." he said quiet enough so only I would hear him as Sara walked up behind us. I bit my lip and he looked towards Mick, "Now go." he ordered and I nodded, turning and helping Sara carry Mick out.
But that didn't last long as I felt an immense pain in my back and everything went black.
