It took an hour to get to the house that you had gotten arranged and set up for the seven of you. The guys were so anxious to see it, and when the lights of the car hit the front of the house, an eruption of awe followed.
You couldn't even put the car in park before they were jumping out of the car, even Kun who was two years older than you. Ten stayed with you, so you threw the keys to Winwin so that they could wander around.
As you walked towards the house, Ten grabbed your hand and pulled you into a hug, one of the many types of hugs that you loved so much. The one where he held your head against his chest so that you could hear his heart beat.
"How are you?"
You looked up and smiled weakly. "I'm better now that everyone's back together."
"But mentally," he restated. "How are you?"
"Drained. I feel very tired."
"And that cut on your lip?"
You smiled up at him and turned away. "I'll tell everyone inside."
Walking into the house was like a fairy tale. You hadn't been inside before and the second time you held the keys was when Wang Lei gave them to you, as he was hiding them for you.
The ceilings were high, the furniture looked luxurious and cushy at the same time, the stairs were accompanied by a rail that twisted alongside it and had a beautiful detailing in the iron that many people would overlook. You had never been in a house like this before, if you could even call it that. With Minsu, and by yourself, you were kept in a darkness that loomed over your head. It got better when you found your friends, but it still wasn't as bright as this.
"Can we even stay here?" You mumbled to yourself.
"Yeah," Xiaojun scoffed sarcastically as he walked in front of you. "That's why we're here, right?"
You mocked him and let yourself get comfortable on the couch. Soon after, everyone joined, watching you intently as you crossed your legs in that lady like manor that told them you were about to say something unpleasant.
"Minsu found out where I was staying not that long ago." You announced. "This is in a much more hidden area, but I still don't know where he lives. We have to watch our backs, because if he finds out that I got you all out of prison, he might flip."
They stayed silent and absorbed the information, but Kun broke the silence. "Did he give you that cut?"
"No. He brought a woman to do it for him." You contemplated telling them about letting her hit you, but you decided against it. "Anyways, I'm glad that you're all home."
Yangyang put his head on your shoulder. "Me too."
You patted his head and ruffled his hair slightly. He was like a younger brother to you, not necessarily because he was the youngest out of all of you, but because he so closely resembled you in terms of personality. He was a recluse who kept his thoughts to himself, yet he was extremely extroverted with the right people - WayV. When he was having a bad day, or when he was in an upsetting state of mind, he would either go to you or Ten.
"Wait," Kun said. "Minsu made it out of the fire?"
"I don't even think he was in the house when we set it on fire. I think he was watching and that's how the police got there so fast. He called them."
They made almost inaudible noises of realization and the room fell silent once more. You could feel the air buzzing around the question that was about to be asked, so you quickly tapped Yangyang's arm for him to sit up.
You avoided eye contact and went upstairs while your friends watched curiously. When Ten heard the door shut, he slapped Xiaojun's arm.
"She always knows when you're about to ask her that question, but even I could feel it this time." Ten said.
Xiaojun shrugged in response. "I'm just curious. I mean, we committed arson for her, but we don't know why we committed arson. I want to know why she hates Minsu so much."
"She'll tell us when the time comes, Xiao." Kun insisted.
"You're right." Xiaojun stood up. "Right now, I'm hungry."
So Kun started preparing dinner while you remained upstairs for a bit longer. There were countless times when you were asked the hardest questions, or told the clueless statements:
"Why do you hate Minsu so much?"
"He's your brother, you should be grateful for him!"
"It's not like he's a psycho or something, it's okay to hug your brother."
You didn't hug him for a reason. You weren't grateful for him for a reason. You didn't hate him, you loathed him, for a reason.
The bedroom door opened and Ten jumped next to you, bringing you back to the moment. "Kun is making dinner."
Your mouth opened slightly and you grabbed Ten's shoulders. "Really?" Ten nodded. "Thank the heavens!"
You ran out of the room and Ten laughed at the sound of your ecstatic feet slapping against the steps. He loved when you got excited like that, it reminded him that you still had an inner child that needed to be attended to.
"Chef Kun!" You shouted dramatically, which made everyone jump as they watched you grab onto the doorway and strike a pose. "What are you making?"
"Our favorite-"
"Our favorite!"
You grabbed your shirt and fell backwards, knowing that Ten was behind you. He caught you and laughed at your silly behavior. The mood was much brighter than it was three minutes ago.
"I guess no one in the house has had a decent meal?" Hendery asked.
"I've been having microwave dinners since your arrest," you said. "The bed situation wasn't much different. I kept a pallet made on the floor."
Winwin ruffled your hair as he stood next to you. "This is the last day of doing that."
You smiled to yourself. It almost felt like you were dreaming that your family was back, and that you were on the verge of waking up.
"Oh, let me call Wang Lei."
"Wang Lei?" Ten questioned. "Why do you have to call him?"
You raised an eyebrow. "He asked me to. He wants to know if we got here safely."
He looked at your for a moment before shaking his head and looking away. You went into the living room and put your phone up to your ear and waited for an answer.
"What took you so long?" Wang Lei picked up.
"I did just break seven people out of prison, cut me some slack." You laughed. "You told me to call when we got here and when we were safe, and we are."
You heard him sigh on the other end. "I bet you're happy to be with them, especially Ten."
You looked into the kitchen and at the stove, where they were all huddled, and saw the six of them laughing. "I'm very happy to be with them. I'm also about to eat dinner, so I'll call you tomorrow."
"I'll come by tomorrow."
"Okay. I'll see you then."
You hung up and put your phone on the couch as you sat at the table, Ten and Winwin sitting next to you. Several feet away from you, your phone began buzzing as three text messages lit up your screen.
Unknown:
We're breaking people out of prison now?
I bet Mom would love to hear that.
Maybe I should try out your strategy?
There was no reply from you, so a fourth message came through.
Unknown:
That's okay, I don't need your opinion on what I do. I guess I'll just do it and surprise you, yeah?
