smiling cindy
The air was chilling, my breath clouded in front of me, my skin was ice to the touch; not that it bothered me.
The tv blurred out from down stairs. Father was back and was watching the football game with his best friend, Jack Daniels.
I sat on the roof of my house with Jordan, watching the sunset beyond the horizon. The sky with filled with warm colours and darkness arising.
"This is beautiful." I said, looking over the landscape before us, I could feel Jordan's eyes on me, his fingers brushed against mine as they lay beside me; side by side.
I gave in to the impression of holding hands. Myself was made aware of his cold large hands intwined with mine, I felt frail in his grasp. Submissive.
"I haven't been completely honest with you," Jordan suddenly spoke out. This comment certainly made my head turn, looking at him questionably.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"That day? When I saved you? It was no coincidence." He said, looking deeply through me, into my soul.
"What?" I resisted standing up and shaking him. Make him get talk! What is he talking about!
"Cindy," he said, grabbing hold of my other hand.
"The truth is, I've been watching you. Ever since you were little, I know about you mum, what she did to you and... what you did to her."
He paused for a moment, seaching my eyes. Knowing how this would affect me.
"And I know what you are."
Those words made me shiver.
"What?" I said a little too harshly. I was more confused than anything.
"My mother... she was in a satanic cult, the same as your mum. It was called the scarlet moon sisters....
I used to watch them conduct rituals, bad one's. The ones where they sacrifice animals and shit to demons. I didn't understand it at first, untill I saw your mother, heavily pregnant, summoning a demon for which she would give her first born child,"
My eyes began to blur with tears, I've heard this story before, through my mother. But it's a whole different thing hearing it through someone else.
"I was very young, 5 I think when I vowed to protect you. It's a big promise to keep. But I stuck to my word, forever and always." He chuckled sadly and brushed a stray hair away from my eyes.
"You've been watching me? My whole life?" I asked, a single tear finally managed to run down my face and fall from my jaw.
Jordan nodded, he's eye's replayed that same sad look. Only now I can see that it was the look of fear.
"Why? Why are you only revealing yourself now?" My voice hashened.
"Because I never wanted to hurt you-"
"Well you've hurt me now!" I cut him off and stood up, wipping away a stray tear as I left him there.
"Cindy! Wait, just listen,"
I ignored his calls and walked away.
More specifically I crawled off the roof.
Well Jordan, the truth came out. You're unwinding your beastly nature.
