Hey so I know that I said I would be posting a lot of soulmate aus and don't worry I am working on them as we speak. But I really wanted to finish this one shot and post it before I start my mini soulmate series. So this is an Au with Steven Universe and it's gonna cover the final episode of season 1. Also fun fact I originally planned for this to be its own fanfic, kind of similar to what I'm doing with The Sailor Scouts of Remnant, but I realized that there are a lot of characters in that show that I just couldn't pick Rwby equivalents for. So anyway I hope this satisfies.

So here's a brief bit of info on how these gems work. If you guys have seen SU then you know that each gem has its own facet and cut. For example three Amethysts are all called "Amethyst" but their full name is "Amethyst 8XJ" or "Amethyst 8XK" and so on. So for this story instead of a gem's full name being their cut and facet they will have an earth name that they go by. Basically translating to I'm not gonna refer to the gems as "Pearl" "Amethyst" "Garnet" and so on they'll be called "Qrow" "Ugine" so on and so forth. Also since the gem homeworld has a caste system I'm also gonna implement that into this in a way. For example the character that I'm gonna have be Peridot is gonna call who I'm having be Jasper by their code name. However, since Jasper is Peridot's manager she has to call them Jasper not by their code name because Peridot's in a lower caste then Jasper is. Pretty much you can only be called by your code name by members of your same caste and above. Does that make sense? If not just ask and I'll try and explain it more.

Ruby was running as fast as she could back to the beach hoping she wasn't too late.

It had definitely been an interesting day to say the least. That very morning a gem ship had started making its advance toward Remnant's surface, just as Ruby's friend Oscar, a lapis lazuli, had warned would happen. Qrow, Ugine, and Freezerburn had done their best to stall the ship before it could land but in the end they decided that the best thing to do was to evacuate the town so they could fight whatever it was that was coming without any people getting hurt. And, despite her protests, Ruby had been told to leave as well.

But once they were on the road her father Taiyang let it slip that this wasn't the first time gems had invaded the planet. It had happened once before millennia ago and the only reason that the three gems who were taking on the new intruders had survived was because they had Ruby's mother Summer to protect them with her shield. Upon hearing this the young girl knew that her friends wouldn't stand a chance without Summer's weapon which thankfully she had inherited along with her mother's gem. So here she was, running all the way back home in order to protect her friends. Her family.

Once she returned to the gems' base on the beach she saw Freezerburn and Qrow and Ugine's fusion Opal getting ready to attack the approaching alien ship.

Opal summoned a bow and arrow and began shooting at the ship. But the ship's hull was too thick so the arrows had no affect.

"Guys!" Ruby shouted, running up to them.

"Ruby?!" Freezerburn asked in shock, "what are you doing?! You're supposed to be with your dad evacuating the town."

"I know but I couldn't leave you guys behind!"

Opal defused back into Ugine and Qrow.

"There's no time to argue about this now," Qrow said, "that ship will be landing any second. Ruby just stay behind us."

Ruby nodded and stood behind her three friends.

Slowly the ship landed in the sand and a hatch at the very front opened and two gems walked out. The first was the peridot that had been coming to Remnant the past couple months who Ruby remembered was named Jenni. The second was wearing the same uniform as Jenni but they were bigger and the same built as Ugine. Definitely some kind of quartz.

Jenni stared the other gems down, "there they are. The gems that have been ruining my missions and breaking my machines."

The other gem followed the peridot's gaze, "that's them? Doesn't look like much."

Jenni looked annoyed, "Adam!"

The gem immediately turned on his partner, "excuse me?! What did you call me?!"

Jenni shrank back, "sorry...J-Jasper."

As Jenni was in a lower gem class then Adam calling him by his codename was a huge blunder.

Adam scoffed and pushed her aside, "all I see is a waste of time and a waste of a journey from homeworld."

He then grabbed someone from behind him and shoved them forward. It was Oscar.

"So you're sure this is the crystal gems' base?" Adam asked.

Oscar looked at Freezerburn, Qrow, and Ugine and then his eyes locked on Ruby. Ruby's eyes widened as she silently prayed that her friend wouldn't sell them out.

But the lapis lazuli turned away from her and looked down at the ground, "yes this is it."

"Look we don't know who you are but you three need to leave. This is no longer a gem controlled planet," Qrow said.

But the jasper ignored him and turned to his subordinates, "so neither of you saw Summer Rose?"

Jenni and Oscar shook their heads.

Adam rolled his eyes, "Shame. I wanted to knock some sense into her. But I guess the shabby remains of her army will do. What do we have here anyway?"

He looked at Qrow, then Ugine and finally Freezerburn, "a defective pearl, an amethyst runt, and whatever that thing is supposed to be."

Ruby pushed past her friends, "hey! What gives you the right to talk to them like that?!"

The jasper stared at Ruby, "and what exactly are you supposed to be?"

Oscar quickly came to his friend's defense, "it's just Ruby. She's a human but she's not a threat, she's not even a crystal gem I swear."

Adam scoffed, "Further proof that this was a waste of time. You two don't need me to take them down just blast them with the ship."

Jenni sighed, "fine." She held her left arm up and began typing into her gauntlet. The ship's front then opened revealing several lasers.

Quickly Ruby summoned her shield just as the lasers fired. The weapon was able to expand and protect her and her friends.

When the dust cleared Adam saw that the crystal gems were unscathed. And he saw the rose symbol on the front of Ruby's shield.

"You...you are Summer Rose! Now I see. You shapeshifted into that thing so I wouldn't recognize you!"

"Don't hurt her!" Oscar pleaded but Adam just shoved him aside.

"I'll deal with you later. You lied to me about knowing who she was. Jenni take Summer to the brig. Our diamond will want to see her."

But before Jenni could follow the jasper's orders Freezerburn summoned her weaponized gauntlets and punched Adam right in the stomach.

This knocked him back a few feet but all the attack seemed to do was make him angrier.

"Oh I see you want to protect her again, well I'll take care of that."

Adam summoned a sword that was crackling with electricity and plunged it into Freezerburn's chest. This caused her body to crack apart and disappear and her two gems fell into the sand.

Ruby looked horrified as the much bigger gem stepped over the discarded gems and towered over her.

"I was there you know. At the first war for this planet. I saw what you did. I'll admit that I even respected your tactics. But seeing what you've become just makes me sick." Adam said

Ruby barely had time to look up before something heavy collided with her head and she blacked out.

When she opened her eyes next she found that she was in a small jail cell.

"Guys?!" Ruby called, "where are you?"

She ran up to the door to find that it was nothing but a panel of light. Slowly she placed her hand up against it expecting to get zapped or something but strangely enough she found that she could actually put her hand completely through the door.

"What the?" Ruby asked as she tried again with her leg only to get the same result. Taking a deep breath she slowly walked completely through the panel and into the hallway.

"I'm out!" She cheered, "now I just gotta find everyone."

She raced down the hall only to hear a strange sound coming from one of the cells. She turned and found an unknown blonde gem curled up on the floor crying.

"Umm hello? Are you alright."

The gem looked up with a hopeful expression on her face but once she saw Ruby her face fell again.

"Oh it's just you. I thought you were someone else."

"My name is Ruby Rose. Who are you?"

The gem wiped her eyes, "I'm a ruby. My codename is Yang."

"Nice to meet you Yang." Ruby said before laughing, "hey I'm Ruby and you're a ruby, that's funny."

Yang didn't seem to find it funny and she was about to tell the human girl to leave her alone when suddenly she realized that somehow Ruby had broken out of her cell.

"Hey how did you get out?" Yang asked.

Ruby showed her how she could walk through the light barrier, but when Yang tried the same thing all she was given for her efforts was an electric shock.

Yang was about to start getting really pissed when the two began to hear the soft sound of someone singing.

"Weiss..." Yang said, "hey Ruby do you think you can help me get out of here? I need to find my friend Weiss!"

Ruby stepped into the light barrier and held her arms out, momentarily holding it back. Yang took this moment to jump through the hole before it shut.

"So who's Weiss?" the girl asked.

"She's a sapphire and my friend. I have to find her." Yang explained.

Ruby nodded, "ok just as long as we can look for my friends at the same time."

The two then began running down the halls trying to find the others, but it wasn't long before Yang got ahead of the human girl and left her behind.

Ruby was about to call after her when she noticed that she was in front of cell that was holding Oscar.

"Oscar!" Ruby said in relief, "hang on let me get you out of here."

"Ruby don't!" He begged, "please listen to me. Stop doing whatever it is that you're doing. We're going to be tried once we get to homeworld and if we do what Jenni and Adam say then maybe we won't be punished as severely."

Ruby looked flabbergasted, "what?! I can't just let them get away with this! You saw what they did to my friends! I just can't forgive them."

Oscar looked sad and turned away from his friend.

The girl then placed her hand on the barrier, "ok I'm gonna go find the others and then I'll come back for you."

She headed down the hall still following Weiss's singing when a door opened in front of her and Adam and Jenni walked through. Ruby quickly ducked into a corner and tried to hide.

"Why did we have to leave?! We didn't even carry out our mission of checking on the super weapon that will destroy Remnant!" Jenni yelled.

But Adam ignored her and instead pounded his fist on the wall outside the cell in front of him, "stop that singing!" He ordered. Taking a breath he turned to his peridot companion, "Summer Rose is our priority now. We have to bring her back. So go set a course for homeworld while I check on the prisoners."

With that he walked away and Jenni's face shifted into a scowl, "why did I think this mission would be easy?! I've got the most thick headed jasper for a manager!" She muttered before going back to the bridge of the ship.

Once they left Ruby slowly approached the cell that they had been talking in front of to find another gem with long white hair standing there.

"Hey are you Weiss?"

The gem nodded and Ruby held the barrier back for her, "c'mon through it's safe I promise."

Weiss quickly walked through the gap in the barrier, "thank you."

Ruby nodded and then the two heard Yang once again calling for Weiss.

"C'mon," the sapphire said taking Ruby's hand. She then ran down the hallways as if she knew exactly where to go until they reached a large open chamber where Yang was standing there waiting

The ruby quickly turned around. "Weiss!"

Weiss ran up to Yang and hugged her tightly.

"Did they hurt you?" Yang asked.

"No. Did they hurt you?" Weiss asked back.

Yang shook her head and Weiss gave her a soft kiss on the cheek.

The two then hugged again and their gems began glowing as they began fusing together. In a flash Freezerburn was standing where the two gems once were.

She blinked her three eyes and looked over at Ruby who's mouth dropped open.

"You're a fusion Freezerburn?!"

The fusion blushed a bit, "yes. Sorry I really didn't want you finding out this way." She cupped Ruby's cheek in her hand, "but I'm glad that we both finally got to meet you."

A door nearby banged open and Adam could then be heard yelling about Weiss's escape.

"I'll handle him," Freezerburn promised, "go find the others Ruby."

"How am I gonna do that?"

Freezerburn leaned down and kissed Ruby's forehead giving her a small amount of her future vision power.

With this Ruby was able to see exactly where Ugine and Qrow were being kept and she raced off to find them.

The fusion then turned to see Adam running into the chamber. And once he got a good look at Freezerburn he scoffed, "so you're both out and you fused again? Why what's the point? Do you think it'll make your stronger for some reason."

Freezerburn summoned her sunglasses and placed them over her eyes, "I'm already stronger then you'll ever be."

The two then began to fight but with Weiss's future vision giving the fusion the ability to dodge most of Adam's attacks it was clear who the fight was in favor of.

Meanwhile Ruby had freed her two friends and they were racing their way toward the bridge. Once their Ugine used his whip to restrain Jenni while Qrow grabbed the ship's controls and began flying them back toward Remnant.

Soon both Freezerburn and Adam were worn out. So in a last ditch effort as Adam attempted to run at the fusion with his electric sword she grabbed him and threw him into a large hole that was created by their fight. The jasper fell through several floors before finally crashing through the ship's power source.

The ship began going down quickly once the power source was broken so Freezerburn quickly went to find her friends. Jenni meanwhile was able to find an escape pod and leave the ship before it crashed onto the beach.

Ruby once again put up her shield to protect her friends and herself as the ship exploded.

"Nice one," Freezerburn praised.

The girl smiled widely, "thanks. And oh my gosh it's so cool that you're a fusion all the time!"

"You met Weiss and Yang?!" Ugine asked in shock.

Ruby nodded and Qrow sighed, "well we were planning on having a proper introduction later."

"We still can!" Ruby insisted.

Suddenly a large piece of rubble shot up in front of them and Adam stepped out of the wreckage.

"You think...you've won?!" He gasped out before falling to his knees. "You may have destroyed my ship but that means nothing. You only won because you're a fusion."

An evil smirk then crossed his face and he began knocking rubble aside until he found Oscar, "perfect."

Oscar tried summoning his wings to fly away but Adam held him down.

"Oscar!" Ruby cried out.

"Listen here brat. Fuse with me!" Adam ordered.

Oscar looked up at the much taller gem, "what?"

"You and I both know that you were kept as a prisoner here. If you fuse with me we'll become bigger and stronger. You'll be able to get your revenge. All you have to say is yes."

"Oscar please don't do it!" Ruby said with tears forming in her eyes.

But Oscar turned away from her and held his hand out to Adam. The jasper smiled wickedly and grabbed it. Their gems then glowed as the two fused together.

The fusion glared down at the crystal gems and began laughing, "let's see what you think of fusion now."

It began using Oscar's hydrokinesis to pull water from the ocean to use as a weapon. But instead the water shifted into the shape of a chain and it snapped itself around the fusion's wrist. More chains then followed and soon the fusion was being pulled toward the ocean.

"What are you doing?!" It asked in Adam's voice.

"You're right Adam," it then said in Oscar's voice, "I was a prisoner far too many times. So now I'm taking you prisoner! And I will never let you go."

The fusion then sank below the waves and was dragged toward the ocean floor.

"Well...." Freezerburn said, "that was a thing."
