chapter one

Fifteen
AFTER OVER A MONTH OF LIVING AT THE BOARDING HOUSE, it was finally time for Suki and Stefan to start their school year. The elder teen firmly decided that they wouldn't be taking his car, so, they had to walk all the way there despite the Kim girls protests. Safe to say, her feet would be hurting after this.
"Are you sure I don't look old ladyish?" the Kim girl asked as they made it to the school doors, her heart beginning to beat faster.
"You look fine, stop worrying, Su. You are probably not going to meet the love of your life today anyways." Stefan replied, lightly shrugging his shoulders before he reached over to ruffle the girls hair.
"Neither of us will, that's not the point, the point is I like making a good first impression, unlike some people."Suki said as she elbowed the boy next to her, laughing slightly.
"I like being alone, is that a crime?" he questioned, opening up the door for the girl he now considered his little sister.
"Of course not, i'm just saying that it's nice to have friends every now and then." The Kim girl shrugged lightly, both of them walking into the school and down the hall.
"As fun as this conversation is, i'm going to make sure our papers are correct, can you just sit out here?" Stefan asked as they reached the office door.
"Yeah, yeah." the young girl blew a strand of hair out of her face and plopped gracefully down in the chair next to the office door.
"See you in a few, kiddo." The Salvatore boy said before leaving her alone in the hallway.
"Well, this is fun." Suki muttered, looking around the hallway before locking eyes with two girls who were staring at her.
Then, the taller girl chased after some brown haired boy and Suki decided to wave at the shorter one. She waved back quickly and walked away, slightly embarrassed she got caught staring. The young girl didn't mind, she herself was always nosy.
"Am I good to go, Stefan?" The Kim girl asked as she felt the door open up behind her.
"Yeah, let's go." The Salvatore handed Suki her schedule and the two of them started down the hallway, Stefan slightly ahead of her.
The Salvatore bumped straight into the girl Suki noticed earlier and she laughed slightly, shaking her head at how absolutely embarrassed he must have felt.
"Good job, Stef." The Kim girl said underneath her breath, walking around the pair who were gazing into each others eyes.
Huh, funny how things tended to work out.
Suki looked at her schedule and realized she had no idea where any of the classes were so, she carefully approached a blonde who looked like she knew what she was doing. One, because she looked super relaxed and two, she was blonde, typical popular girl material. In her mind, that had to mean she know something.
"Excuse me, do you know where Mr.Tanner's class is?" the Sophmore girl asked, tilting her head to the side as she pointed at her schedule.
"You are the new girl right? Who was that guy you were with? Your boyfriend?" the blonde asked quickly, linking her arm with Suki's as they continued walking down the hall.
"Uh, no...that's actually really gross. He's kind of like a brother to me." the Kim girl shrugged her shoulders as she explained the situation, leaving out the more depressing details.
"Can you tell me his name, favorite color, and zodiac sign....? It's for research." The cheery girl questioned, a smile never leaving her face.
"Can you just show me where my history class is?" Suki tilted her head to the side, letting her eyes roll slightly. No, she wasn't one to be rude, however, being questioned before first period was never on her radar.
"Yeah, that's where we are walking, duh. So, can you spill the beans?" the blonde asked, pushing for more information.
"His name is Stefan Salvatore, his favorite color is blue, and he's a scorpio." the Kim girl answered as the two girls stopped in front of a wooden door.
"Perfect, i'm Caroline Forbes and this is your class. Mr.Tanner is like super mean so like, watch out. Oh, and let me know if you need anything." with that, the girl walked off excitedly, feeling ecstatic that she had gotten the information she needed.
"Weird." Suki shrugged her shoulders, letting out as sigh before she pushed her way into the classroom.
The only seat that was open was in the back of the classroom next to the boy who got chased into the bathroom earlier and to Suki, he looked like trouble. She sighed and sat down ready for class when she felt a tap on her shoulder. At first, she didn't pay it any mind, until someone did it yet again.
"Hey, do you have a pencil I can borrow?" the boy whispered over to her, a blank expression on his face.
"It's the first day of school, you don't have a pencil?" The Kim girl questioned, raising a slight and cautious brow.
"Nope, do you have one or-"
"Mr.Gilbert, is there something you and your friend would like to share with the class?" Mr.Tanner asked, his arms folded over his chest.
"She is not my friend." the brown haired boy answered back, shaking his head as he leaned his back against his seat.
"Yeah, i'm not a fan of him either."Suki added on, rolling her eyes at the brunette's snide little comment.
"Listen Jeremy, I understand you are still upset about what happened with your parents but, that was months ago and you need to get with the program." Mr.Tanner said angrily, rubbing his temple with the small of his fingers.
The whole class went silent and started to look towards of the back of the classroom where Jeremy was sitting, the boy absolutely pissed.
"...as for you Ms...? what is your name?"
"Suki Kim, sir." the sophomore answered in response, smiling slightly.
"Well Ms.Kim, I suggest you don't associate with Mr.Gilbert here and I also suggest you don't keep running your mouth during class." after that ,Mr.Tanner started his class without letting anyone respond to him.
"Dick."Jeremy mumbled, all while the girl in front of him let her smile fade into a thin lipped annoyance.
The rest of the class went by uneventfully, it was mostly just basic first day introductions and Suki was extremely happy when the bell rang. She was the first one to get up out of her seat but, Jeremy was a close second behind and accidentally ran right into her. She stumbled, until she fell to the ground a few seconds later.
"Mary, Jesus, and Joseph." Suki mumbled after falling, Jeremy right on top of her.
"Did you just-" The Gilbert boys lips parted, smiling slightly as the Kim girl put a finger over his mouth.
"It's a habit." she informed him, she didn't really feel like explaining anything about how her parents were extremely religious and raised her not to cuss, she didn't know what things were and weren't embarrassing at this high school.
"Whatever you say." he got up to his feet and extended his hand out to help her up which, she accepted, both of them exchanging awkward yet soft glances.
"Thanks, i'm just gonna—" before she spoke any further, the girl just pointed awkwardly towards the door before rubbing the back of her neck.
"Good idea." Jeremy nodded his head, laughing as he repeated the same action.
"See you around?" the Kim girl asked, nervously flicking her nails against one another.
"Yeah, see you around, Suki." The Gilbert boy waved as Suki walked out of the room and into the hallway, a tint of red on her cheeks.
She needed to stop that.
"Stefan!" The Kim girl yelled as she walked up to the Salvatore boy. "Wait up, you are as fast as a Cheetah."
"Hey, Su. How was your first class?" The Salvatore asked curiously, holding onto the strap of his bag.
"It was..eventful? I don't really know how to explain it but, I know this is going to be a really long year." the young teen let out a sigh, blowing a few strands of hair from her face.
"It sure is, kiddo." Stefan laughed and ruffled the girls hair as they walked down the hallway.
It sure would be.
