chapter four

Cheerleader

THE BLONDE FROM SUKI'S FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, Caroline, had since asked her to be on the cheer team. The Kim girl was really hesitant about it but, Thomas told her to go for it, hoping that she could make more friends along the way. She couldn't deny being friends would be a good thing so, she agreed.

After tons of practice, the Forbes girl ensured Suki that she was a natural and had potential to be cheer captain her senior year. This excited the girl slightly and she was prepared for the upcoming game. It was even better that she'd get to cheer Stefan on, he had been supportive of her and now, it was her turn.

So, here she was walking up to the biggest football game of the school year hoping she didn't look like an idiot in her cheer uniform.

"You're a cheerleader now?" Jeremy asked as he jumped off the back of a truck with a bottle of some type of alcohol in his hand.

"I don't really think my personal life concerns you." The two young teens hadn't talked since the incident at the grill and Suki was still waiting for an apology.

"Come on, it's not that serious Suki, you really need to chill out." Jeremy laughed slightly, taking the situation like some sort of joke.

"You are drunk and I am late, Caroline is going to kill me." The Kim girl rolled her eyes before starting to walk off angrily.

"Hey!" The Gilbert boy ran after her before taking his jacket off.

"What now?" Suki asked as she stopped in her tracks and folded her arms over her chest.

"Take my jacket, it's cold." The Gilbert boy draped it around her shoulders and walked off without another word, leaving her stunned.

"What in Jesus's name-" the Kim girl sighed slightly before walking off towards where she was supposed to meet Caroline. When she arrived, coach Tanner was on the microphone spouting nonsense and making Suki roll her eyes.

"You are late." Caroline commented, furrowing her brows as she continued to shake her pom poms.

"I am so so sorry, there was uh, traffic." The Kim girl was always a terrible liar but for some reason, the Forbes girl believed her.

"Okay, stand next to me, the game is starting soon." The blonde said giddily. "Remember, a big smile and lots of clapping."

"Got it." Suki plastered a huge smile across her face and started to clap her hands and shake her pom poms.

"Perfect." Caroline turned her attention to the front, proud of her younger friend.

"She loosens up a bit when you get to know her." A girl whispered from next to Suki, wearing the same smile as her. "I'm Bonnie."

"Right, you were the girl who was staring at me and Stefan." Suki laughed slightly making Bonnie's eyes widen. "Don't worry about that by the way, it was harmless."

"Thank god, I didn't want you to think I was a creepy stalker or anything." The Bennett girl admitted, letting out a sigh of relief.

"Of course not, I hope we can be friends, if that's alright with you of course." The Kim girl said awkwardly as she waved her pom poms, pretending to pay attention to Tanner's speech.

"I'd like that." Bonnie agreed and the two girls kept pretending to be happy about listening to the coach speak.

After a few minutes, a ruckus started to form behind the cheerleaders and when Suki turned around, Tyler and Jeremy were fighting.

"That boy-" the Kim girl sighed and quickly ran over hoping that Jeremy wasn't getting beat up by the older boy.

"Tyler, stop it!" Vicki yelled as the Lockwood boy shoved Jeremy against a car. "Stop Tyler, you're hurting him!"

Suki was much more of a doer than a talker, she quickly ran over to what was happening and shoved the Lockwood boy off of Jeremy. It didn't matter much though because he quickly got up to his feet and pushed her to the ground. Jeremy seen her laying there and got angry so, he punched Tyler once again.

Again, it really made no difference in the grand scheme of things. Tyler was stronger and faster and he quickly regained his position on top of the Gilbert boy, hitting him over and over again. Suki hated violence, she was taught from a very young age it was wrong so, this all happening made her angry.

"Hey, hey, he's down, enough." The Kim girl heard Stefan say, she hadn't opened her eyes yet, scared that she'd see blood or something even worse.

"Jeremy, no!" Someone else yelled, making Suki open up her eyes.

The Gilbert boy was running up to Tyler with a glass bottle in his hand. Unfortunately, he moved out of the way and Jeremy cut Stefan with the glass. Or at least, that's what it looked like.

"Are you okay?" Suki questioned as she looked up at Stefan who was staring at his hand.

"The question is, are you okay?" He put out his other hand and helped what he felt was his younger sister to her feet.

"My head hurts, but i'll live." The Kim girl smiled slightly to reassure him but, truth was her headache was really bad.

"Oh my god! This totally ruins things! You got your clothes dirty!" Caroline complained as she walked up to Suki. "We need to get you into another uniform ASAP."

The Forbes girl dragged the Kim girl off in the other direction quickly, hoping to get her changed before the game started.

THE NIGHT WENT BY SURPRISINGLY FAST, another surprise to Suki was that she actually enjoyed being a cheerleader. It brought a certain amount of happiness to her life that she had lacked for months, she was grateful for that. Thomas wasn't able to come see her cheer but, she was happy that she had made new friends that were cheering along side her, things were looking up.

You know, besides the fact that the game got cancelled because of her history teacher dying.

After all the festivities for the night were over, the Kim girl just started to walk around. There really wasn't much else to do as she waited for Stefan to be done changing and talking to Elena. It was sort of a surprise she seen Jeremy hanging out under the bleachers though.

"Well, look who it is." Suki said as she sat down on the dirt next to him.

"You didn't have to do that earlier." He commented, holding a cold can over his face.

"Someone else would have helped you anyways." The teen shrugged her shoulders. "I told you to not fight Tyler but you didn't listen."

"He's a dick, we both know he deserved it." Jeremy shook his head slightly, letting out a sigh that he didn't even know he was holding.

"Maybe, but don't you think that it would make more sense to let Karma come back to him?" Suki questioned, glancing over at his face that was slightly bruised.

"Why do you always have to say things that make sense?" The Gilbert boy asked as he glanced back over at her too.

"Maybe i'm just smart." She joked, elbowing him lightly.

"Thanks for helping me." Jeremy smiled at that and locked his eyes on Kim girl, noticing how pretty she looked with her hair up in a ponytail.

"Suki!" Stefan called out from the parking lot close by. "It's time to go."

"Yeah, well." The teen got up to her feet and took off Jeremy's jacket to hand it over to him. "I won't be there to help you every time."

"Keep it, it looks better on you."
