Zelda x Male Child Reader (Fluff): "My special little guy." Part 1

Hey everyone! This was requested by paultiteuf360.
I'm so, so sorry it took so long for me to get this out!! I decided to split this story into 2 parts, because...reasons. Anyway, I promise Part 2 will be out in a much more timely fashion.
Now, without further ado, here it is. (Finally)
Enjoy~

When you first arrived at the Smash mansion, you were pretty much scared of everything and everyone there.
But honestly, who could blame you? There was a giant ape walking around wearing a tie, a dinosaur-thing that breathed fire, even a severed floating hand, and all of that was considered "normal."

Of course, there were a few friendly-looking people that you had seen, but being that you were a shy kid, you could never convince yourself to work up the courage to talk to anyone.

That was, until you met her.
You still remembered how it had all gone down....

*Flashback*

It was the day after you had arrived at the Smash Mansion, and you were sitting on the bed in your room, your chin resting on your small fists as you absentmindedly swung your short legs back and forth.
You sighed, looking around at the place that you would be living in.
It was nice- sure. But it felt lonely.
There was nothing too interesting in your room yet, because you hadn't personalized it or moved any of your stuff in.

A loud knock sounded at your door, startling you and causing you to jump off the bed before walking over to answer it.
You slowly and nervously shuffled to the door, cracking it open and peeking out.

There outside your door stood the most beautiful girl you had ever seen.
She had long straight golden-blonde hair that cascaded down her back, and sky-blue eyes that sparkled like stars. She wore a white and pink satin dress with a golden headband and armor that complemented her hair perfectly. A delicate pink pearl necklace hung loosely from her neck, and she smelled faintly of cinnamon and vanilla.

"Awww. I was hoping we'd get another Smash kid!" she mumbled to herself.
Shaking her head to clear her own thoughts, she flashed you a wide grin (showing off her perfect smile), and bent down so she was looking at you eye-to-eye. "Hey buddy." she beamed.

Your cheeks immediately heated up as you stared into her crystal blue eyes.
"H-hi." you managed to choke out.

The girl giggled, her laugh descending like a peal of little bells.
"My name is Zelda. My room is right there." she smiled gently, pointing directly across the hall.
"I'm your new neighbor." she made jazz hands at you.

You dropped your head from her gaze, trying to process what she had said to you. She was your neighbor? Her room was directly across from yours?

"So. What's your name?"
she asked kindly.

You looked back up at her, a suddenly feeling a lot better.
"I'm (Y/n)." you replied, a bashful grin working its way across your face.

*Flashback over*

Yep. That's how it had all started. You started to hang out with Zelda more and more, spending time with her whenever you were able. You two played board games together, took walks in the park, and watched movies. You really enjoyed her company, and she was always super nice to you. She introduced you to all of her friends, and you began to feel less and less shy.
You would play with Toon Link, Ness, Lucas, and Kirby, but you still preferred to hang out with Zelda whenever you could.

People had started getting used to the fact that you two were almost inseparable. Zelda tried to include you in everything she did, and brought you with her pretty much anywhere she went. She gave you candy, piggy back rides, and lots of hugs. She thought of you as the little brother she'd never had, and always wanted.

And you loved her.

But things changed when he started coming around more.
She started hanging out with him all the time, leaving less and less time for you.

You didn't understand why he was trying to steal Zelda away from you, but you despised him for it.
You snuggled closer to Zelda, who you happened to be sitting with at the moment.

She patted your head, turning off the movie that had just ended.
"Well, it's about your bedtime now. How about you go get your pajamas on, and I'll tuck you in before I go." she smiled, ruffling your hair.

You sighed, shrugging and smiling back up at her. She yawned, jumping up off the couch and arching her back to stretch her shoulders before smoothing out her dress.
She started humming to herself and began fixing her hair in the mirror over your couch.
She had a date with Link soon. That's where she was heading after she tucked you in, and you knew it.

You glumly put your pajamas on, forming a plan in your head to get her to stay longer. Why was Link so important to her anyway? What did he have that you didn't?
Why didn't Zelda love you the best?

"Can you read me a story before you go?" you asked her, climbing into bed.
"I'm sorry buddy, I really don't have time..." she kissed the top of your head, pulling the blanket up to your chin.

"Wait! I uh...need a glass of water." you jumped out of bed, running to the kitchen to get a sip.
You had to figure out how to get her to stay longer.

"Hurry up. It's already past your bedtime mister." Zelda sighed from the other room. She didn't sound mad. She never sounded mad at you.
She was the sweetest person you knew.

Suddenly and idea struck you.
It was brilliant! She wouldn't leave if you didn't feel well! You just had to pretend to have a stomachache. It was a fool-proof plan.

"Ow..." you muttered from the kitchen, making sure it was loud enough for her to hear. "My tummy hurts." you told her, walking back over towards her.

"Oh no." she frowned. "Maybe you had too much popcorn?" she walked over towards you, scooping you up and carrying you over to the bed. You wrapped your arms around her neck, hugging her tightly.
She set you down gently on the bed, and you lifted up you pajama shirt.
She pressed her cool fingers against your stomach.
"Does it hurt when I touch it?"

"A little bit..." you bit your lip, trying your best to look like you were in pain.
"Owwww..."

"Well how about I get some medicine for you?" she frowned, a worried expression on her face.

"U-uh...you don't have to." you told her, your plan beginning to backfire tremendously.
"I know you don't like it, but it'll help your stomachache go away." Zelda started walking to the medicine cabinet.

"No! It feels all better now." you jumped into bed, laying your head on your pillow.
"Are you sure?" Zelda asked tentatively.

"Yep." you nodded frantically. "All better. How about you just stay with me until I fall asleep. Just to make sure it doesn't come back." you suggested.

"Oh." Zelda put her hands on her hips. "I think I see what's happening here." she walked over to your bed, covering you up again.
"You don't want me to go on my date, do you?"

"No." you sadly shook you head.

"Aw buddy, why not?" Zelda sat on the bed, brushing your hair out of your eyes.

"You've been spending so much time with Link lately... It feels like he stole you away from me. D-do you...do you even still love me anymore?" you gripped the edge of the blanket, the tears in your eyes threatening to spill over.

"Oh (Y/n)." Zelda's eyes softened. She reached down and grabbed your hands with hers, rubbing them gently with her thumbs. "You don't ever have to worry that I'll leave you. I knew something has been bothering you lately... I didn't know you felt like that about Link." she smiled at you, her gaze meeting yours.
"Just because I hang out with other people sometimes doesn't mean I don't still love you. You're my special little guy. I'll always have a special place in my heart for you. No matter what. I want you to know that I love you a lot buddy." she told you, still holding onto your hands.

You glanced down at your hands intertwined with hers, a small smile appearing on your face.
"I love you too." you looked up at her, squeezing her hands.
"I can give you lots of love. So you don't need Link anymore. Right?" you grinned at her hopefully.

Zelda frowned, her expression darkening. "I really like him (Y/n). He makes me very happy. I think you'd like him too if you got to know him. He's very sweet." she dropped your hands, smoothing out her dress.
"I know you feel a bit jealous. I don't want you to feel like I'm excluding you..." she pondered.

"Oh! I know. How about this: tomorrow, you, Link, and I can go to the park and hang out together. We can have a picnic, and play on the swing set. We can be like a little family." Zelda smiled, a far-off look in her eyes.

"What?" you raised an eyebrow at her.

"Sorry. I was getting ahead of myself." Zelda laughed, blushing as a bashful smile spread across her face. "Whaddya say about tomorrow buddy? I think you and Link could be best buds."

"Hmm..." you really didn't like Link. But you could tell that Zelda really wanted you to try. You didn't want to make her sad. You loved her too much.

"Okay." you sleepily nodded, yawning.

"Thank you." Zelda beamed at you. She laid your head back down on your pillow, pulling the blanket up and tucking you under.
"Goodnight (Y/n)." she whispered sweetly, kissing your forehead before shutting off the lights .

"Goodnight Zelda." you smiled.
