I'm so so sorry for the long wait, and I'm also sorry in advance if he is OoC. I don't know much about him, but I tried my best!
Happy Valentine's Day! 💝
Okay, enjoy!
How could this happen?!?
The injustice of it all was just tragic.
You were single on Valentine's Day, which, as we all know, is the worst day to be single.
It wasn't so bad being single on other days, but something about today was different. There's just something about seeing everybody else spending time with their significant other while you sit alone on the sidelines that leaves you feeling so... Empty...
So what else was there to do than mope around in your room and act dramatic?
The only reason you bothered getting up at all was that your favorite cereal seemed to be calling to you from the pantry. "Eeeeeat meeeee! I'm soooo yuuuuuummmyyyy..." Your stomach grumbled, demanding that you immediately fill it with Lucky Charms (or whatever your favorite cereal is... Unless that cereal is plain Cheerios, which are disgusting). You sighed, rolling out of bed and begrudgingly starting your day.
After a quick shower and breakfast, you decided to go do some training.
It wasn't fun, but at least it would help you get your mind off this awful day for a little while.
You slipped out of your room, closing the door behind you and walking to the elevator at the end of the hall.
"Good morning (Y/n)!" a voice chirped from behind you.
You glanced behind you, smiling upon locating the source of the voice.
"Oh. Hey Zelda." you waved, waiting for a moment to allow her to catch up to you.
"Are you going down?" Zelda inquired, skipping into the elevator and grinning at you.
"Yep. First floor." you nodded.
"Cool! I'm going to the second floor. I'm meeting Link so we can hang out and play some board games with Marth and Caeda, then go out to lunch! We'll probably catch a movie too if we have time!.." she told you, her eyes shining.
"Cool!" you replied, forcing a grin with all the false enthusiasm you could muster.
*Bing*
The elevator stopped, and you both glanced at the door curiously as it slid open.
"Hello." Lucina smiled, stepping in with Robin by her side.
"Hi!" Zelda laughed. "What are you two love-birds doing for Valentines day?" she teased, elbowing Lucina.
Lucina blushed, pushing a loose strand of her blue hair behind her ear.
"Nothing much. We're going to brunch, and afterward we plan to check out the book store that just opened." she smiled. Her voice was calm and steady as usual, but her eyes were sparkling, and the faint glow on her cheeks betrayed her nervous excitement.
Why couldn't you have someone who made you feel like that?
"Awesome!" Zelda giggled. "Link and I aren't doing anything too crazy either..."
You sighed, taking a step back and crossing your arms over your chest.
Just your luck. You would get stuck in an elevator with two couples. Er, one-and-a-half couples anyway.
Nothing against them of course- it's not like they knew they were making you feel increasingly lonely by talking about what they had planned with their significant others.
*Bing*
You all glanced at the elevator door as it slid open once again.
Luigi and Daisy filed into the elevator, followed by Villager and Isabelle.
You scooted farther back into the corner, as the new couples started talking and mingling with the other couples. (Except for Villager, who didn't say anything. He just stared... And smiled... That guy gave you the heebie-jeebies...) You shuddered involuntarily.
Well. This is awkward....
You made it down one more floor when, once again, you heard that all-too-familiar "bing". You watched in disbelief as Diddy-Kong waddled onto the elevator holding Dixie-Kong's hand.
Even Diddy-Kong has a girlfriend?!? He's a FREAKING MONKEY!!!
"I swear... If another couple comes into this elevator I'm going to-" you mumbled, being cut off by yet another "bing!"
You were so squished at this point, that you had no idea how there was even room for anybody else to get on.
But apparently there was.
"Hey everyone!" Roy laughed, squeezing himself in, completely undeterred by the lack of available space. "Master Hand said I could go back to my game and visit Lilina for Valentine's day. Isn't that awesome?" he smiled.
You groaned, sliding down where you were sitting and resting your head on your knees.
Were you seriously the only one who didn't have someone to hang out with today?
*Bing*
The elevator door slid open, finally reaching the second floor.
Everyone filed off, waving at each other and saying goodbye, leaving you all alone in the elevator.
You sighed, finally looking up from your position on the floor and watching all the couples leave hand-in-hand. You dropped your head again with a sigh as you heard the elevator doors slide shut.
"Geez." you rubbed your temples in annoyance.
"Why me?" you asked yourself.
"This is so unfair..."
Everybody else has a Valentine!
Okay. Well, maybe not everyone else had a Valentine, but admitting that you weren't the only single person on the planet isn't very conducive to supporting your self-pity, whereas being over-dramatic certainly was.
"Are you okay?" a concerned voice asked from next to you.
You let out a small scream and jumped to your feet, totally freaked out by the fact that there was someone else on the elevator. You unfortunately tripped on your purse, (which was still on the floor from where you had previously been sitting) and started falling backwards, causing you to let out another scream as you plummeted toward the floor.
You squeezed your eyes shut, bracing for the pain....
but it never arrived.
You felt two muscular arms underneath you. You cautiously opened one eye, only to find yourself looking up at your friend Terry.
"Hey (Y/n). Are you okay?" he asked you again, grinning.
You and Terry were good friends, and you wouldn't want to do anything to compromise that. But you couldn't help finding him handsome and incredibly sweet, and so maybe you had an tiny crush on the blond-haired man.
You stood there, frozen for a moment, looking into Terry's beautiful eyes, before the butterflies in your stomach decided to kick in.
"Ahhh!" you jumped up from where he had caught you, your cheeks turning a shade of light pink.
"My, you're jumpy today." Terry noted, chuckling to himself.
Your blush darkened, and you bent down to scoop up your purse and brush yourself off.
Great. I looked like a total klutz of front of Terry.
Today has just been one bad thing after another.
I knew I should've just stayed in bed... Stupid Lucky Charms... You tricked me!
*Bing*! The elevator doors opened at the first floor.
"So what are you doing today?" Terry asked nonchalantly, walking off the elevator with you.
"Oh! Nothing really..." you sighed, pushing a loose strand of your (h/c) hair behind your ear.
"I just thought I'd get some training in today, since I figured the arena would be pretty empty." you stated blandly.
"And I mean, I was tired of moping around and being lonely. What about you? Do you have anything special planned?" you asked, forcing a smile in an attempt to look cheerier.
"Nope." Terry laughed. "Same as you. I'm all alone for Valentine's Day I guess."
You both stood there in silence for a moment before he spoke up.
"Hey! I have an idea. Let's be lonely together! Whaddya say (Y/n)?" Terry asked, a wide grin on his face.
"That is... if you want to..." he added, politely giving you a choice.
You laughed and looked up at him inquisitively.
"How do you do that?"
"Well...we could go around and ruin all the other couples' days! We could smack flowers out of their hands and sing that song where it's like, 'Person and other person, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-NG.' until they get so annoyed with us that they decide to leave."
Terry laughed evilly.
"Uhhh. Or, we could train together and go out to lunch afterwards." you suggested.
Terry laughed. "I mean, that was my 'plan B', so..."
"Let's do that." you grinned. Terry flashed you a smile as you walked off towards the training arena.
Maybe this Valentine's Day wouldn't be so lonely after all...
Note from the editor: There are two major contradictions contained in this story that I was too lazy to fix, because it would have required me to do a lot of extra writing/re-writing. First is the weirdness of everyone getting off the elevator at the second floor... That was something that would have required an overhaul of the plot, since it seemed like some people, e.g. Roy, would get off at the first floor, while others, like Zelda, clearly wouldn't get off there since they weren't leaving the building yet. But the whole thing couldn't clear at once unless a floor was picked, so the second floor it was. We should've moved the training ground to the basement for this whole thing to work more smoothly. Second was YN falling backwards in the elevator. She was already in the corner, and unless in jumping to her feet she moved to the center of the room and somehow tripped on her purse there, she would either fall immediately into the wall (she was sitting in the corner) or she would fall forward... So yeah. I'm not stupid, I'm just lazy. Happy V-day.
So yep, that's it for this chapter!
I hope you enjoyed! 😄
See you guys you guys in the next chapter, and happy Valentine's day once more!
