Richter x Artist Reader: The Perfect Picture
Hello! This is a:
Richter x Artist Reader requested by zodiac-princess1043
I don't know much about Richter, but I tried my very best. (Sorry in advance if he's a little Ooc)
Alrighty! Enjoy~
WAIT! One more thing! Try not to imagine Richter as an 80's superhero like He-Man, or it will be impossible to take this story seriously! Lol. Good luck reading it normally now...
The sun shown brightly through your window, illuminating the unfinished picture on your easel.
You sat in motionless silence, just staring at it. It was missing something. You knew that.
"But what?" You asked yourself frustratedly.
You had already painted a beautiful forest background with a pink and purple sunset, shining dimly through the branches of the trees.
You just needed a main subject. Something to go right in the middle of the painting... Something that grabbed peoples' attention as soon as they saw it.
You frowned, glancing up at the digital clock that hung over your bed.
12:43 pm
You stood up and sighed, walking to the small sink in your kitchen to clean your brushes. You rinsed each one, setting them down on a towel to dry.
Wow. You glanced around your room, looking at the various art supplies scattered about. "What a mess." You sighed...
You drummed your fingers on the counter, trying to come up with something, anything.
You needed to find inspiration... And what better place to find it than outside?
"I guess that's where I'm going." You mumbled to yourself, grabbing your sketchbook and pencil from the counter where they always sat. You sharpened the pencil before sticking it behind your ear.
"Alrighty..."
You gripped your sketchbook tightly, quickly opening your door and slipping out. You started cautiously making your way through the halls of the smash mansion, trying to avoid any unnecessary conversation so you could get outside unnoticed.
It's not that you minded people, some friendly small talk here and there could really brighten your mood, it's just that you needed to get this portrait done. You wanted to enter it in the art competition the Smashers were holding this year, and the deadline to send in your work was in one week.
"Oh! Hey (Y/n)!" A voice called from behind you, causing you to jump.
You shook your head back and forth to wake you from your little daze, glancing over your shoulder to see who had called you.
There stood your best friend Richter. "Oh. Hello." You waved at him.
"Wait up!" He laughed, running to where you were standing, and wrapping his strong arms around you in a tight hug.
"I haven't seen you in forever! Where have you been hiding?" He asked.
"You get so caught up in your art sometimes, you forget you have friends that like to know you're alive."
"R-Richter- C-can't-breathe.." You coughed, squirming around and trying to get more oxygen.
"Oh. Sorry!" He laughed, pulling away from his bone crushing hug and scratching the back of his neck.
"And also, it's only been like, two days since you've seen me." You smiled up at him, your cheeks glowing a faint pink.
"I didn't forget I had friends." You stuck your tongue out at him, punching his arm playfully.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I was just messing with you." He grinned, booping your nose with his finger.
"So what have you been working on lately?" He asked, walking with you down the hall and into the elevator.
"Oh!" Your eyes lit up. "I'm in the middle of working on a painting I'm going to enter into the Smash Art competition! I really hope I win this year, because my painting came in second last year... Who knew Peach could paint, right? I want to redeem myself this year for it and-"
"I'm sorry I asked." Richter chuckled, covering your mouth with his hand.
"Humph." You puffed out your cheeks, taking his hand off your mouth.
"I'm not that bad." You rolled your eyes at him playfully.
"I dunno. You can be. Sometimes I feel like if I didn't ask about your paintings, and you had to keep all that stuff in your head, you would just... blow up."
He laughed, poking your cheeks.
"It would not." You giggled, getting off the elevator. "Plus, I know you don't really mind me raving about my work." You smiled, skipping to the lobby.
"You're right." Richter smiled at you, continuing to walk with you outside.
"Also, ummm, where exactly are we going?"
"I don't know where you're going mister, but I'm going to the garden to get some inspiration for my painting." You said, opening your sketch book and continuing to walk forward.
"Oh, cool." Richter stated absentmindedly, fiddling with the handle on his whip.
"Hey! I know! I can help you find inspiration." he started excitedly, "And then maybe I can uh, buy you some lunch, or, something..." he smiled nervously, a light pink dusting his cheeks.
"Okay." You nodded, "But this might take awhile, just to warn you. Inspiration doesn't just fall out of the sky ya know." You walked over to a stone bench in front of a fountain and sat down, opening the notebook on your lap.
"Yeah. Okay." Richter shrugged, sitting next to you in the bench and watching as you flipped through your sketches.
"Wow, you drew all of those?" He asked, tracing some of the pictures with his finger. "They're so good..."
"Yup, I did." You beamed proudly. "And thank you."
You finally found a blank page in your notebook, so you carefully grabbed the bottom, gently ripping it out so you wouldn't tear it.
"Here." You said. handing it to Richter, who took it from you with a perplexed expression plastered on his face.
He glanced down at his hands and then back up into your (e/c) eyes curiously. "So, umm. What's this for?" He inquired, waving around the paper he was holding.
"I want you to draw something." You replied simply, pulling the pencil out from behind your ear and handing that to him as well. "I get a lot of inspiration from what other people create,
so just... draw." You smiled at him, folding your hands on your lap and scooting closer to him expectantly.
"O-oh. Okay. I don't know what to draw though." He stuttered, realizing how close to him you now were.
"Oh." You you thought for a moment in silence, before speaking up again,
"Well just draw something you like." You smiled, "Maybe something you find interesting or pretty. That's what I do." You finished, hoping the ideas you offered him were enough.
"Okay. I'll try." Richter said, glancing down at the blank sheet of paper uncertainly, "But it won't look nearly as good as one of your drawings."
He started sketching, making light pencil marks on the page.
"I'll give you some space." You yawned, standing up and stretching.
You left him sitting on the bench there and strolled around the garden.
The leaves on the trees had already started changing colors, and the squirrels ran around like crazy, grabbing acorns, berries, and whatever else they could find for their burrow. You sighed, breathing in the crisp fall air. You thought you wouldn't be able to take any breaks because your thoughts would always drift back to your unfinished painting- but it was surprisingly something else that occupied your thoughts....Richter.
He had been your best friend for so long now... Was it wrong that you had always wanted him as more than just that?
You sighed, dropping your arms to your sides and kicking an acorn that had dropped on the path in front of you.
"It doesn't matter." You reminded yourself. "He doesn't like you like that."
You crossed your arms over your chest, and walked back to where you had left the brunette. "Hey." You smiled, sitting back down next to him.
"Oh, hey." He replied, glancing up from his drawing.
"Are you finished?" You asked, scooting over towards him, and trying to peek at his paper.
"Yeah." His eyes gleamed.
"What do you think?" He held up his paper to show you.
He had drawn four vampire stick figures, and one stick figure that looked suspiciously like himself. The "good guy" figure, was holding a whip, and whipping one of the vampires, with said vampire's blood spurting everywhere.
"Uhhhhhhh-" you let your voice trail off. "It's... Umm... Unique." You offered smiling awkwardly.
"I'm just kidding. This is not the real picture I drew. I'm not that bad." Richter grinned at you, flipping the page around.
"O-oh." You laughed, scratching the back of your neck. "Right..."
On the back he had drawn a girl with (h/c) hair, and (e/c) eyes, sitting on a wooden swing in a garden. She was wearing a elegant white dress, and had a crown of daisies on her head.
"Wow..." You breathed out.
"That's really good."
"It's a picture of you." Richter pointed out, a blush forming on his cheeks.
"You said to draw something I liked and found pretty, soooooo..."
He gulped, glancing down at the picture he had drawn, and then back up at you.
"Y-you... Like me? A-and think I'm
p-pretty?" You blushed, choking up a bit while staring into his deep blue eyes.
"Yeah." He smiled, pushing a loose piece of your (h/c) hair behind your ear. "I like you a lot (Y/n). And honestly, I think you're the most beautiful girl in the world."
He smiled earnestly.
You couldn't believe your ears...
You lunged forward and wrapped your arms around his neck. "I like you too."
You smiled before planting your soft lips on his chapped ones.
You kissed gently for a minute, before pulling away for air.
"Whoa." He breathed wide eyed.
"That was..." He struggled for the right word, running his hand through his hair. "Really good."
"Yeah." You laughed.
"OH my GOSH!" You jumped up in excitement, "I just thought of what to put on my painting!" You jumped up and down excitedly.
"Did you now?" Richter asked you, clearly amused with your excitement.
"Yeah! But it can wait... Are you still up for lunch?" You asked, smiling at him sweetly.
~Two weeks later~
You and your boyfriend Richter walked down the line of paintings, looking at each one before finally making it to yours. It was now completed, and had a small path going through the woods, with a couple walking down it hand in hand, their backs to the viewers.
"I can't believe it won first place." You breathed out, gingerly touching the blue ribbon that had been stuck to the frame.
"I can." Richter laughed. "You're really talented (Y/n)."
"Thanks! But you don't have to be talented to make a good picture." You smiled, pulling out your phone and switching it to selfie mode.
"Say cheese!"
You both posed for the camera.
You looked down at the picture you had just taken with Richter, and showed it to him.
"See? This is the perfect picture."
Welp, that's all for this chapter!
As always thanks for reading,
and I hope you enjoyed.
Feel free to leave me feedback and requests, and I'll see you all again soon! Hugs~
