Pit x reader: Learning to read
Hey guys! Today we have a Pit x Reader, requested by... me! Yeah! Let's hear it for me! Round of applause everybody! (Cricket noises) *Ahem. Anyway, I just wanted to write something cute for my favorite smash boi. Enjoy~
I'm not usually bored, but today was an exception. It was pouring rain outside, Pitoo didn't want to do anything with me, and it was an off day for the Smashers, which meant no battles.
"Man this sucks. I hate being bored."
I huffed, flopping over onto my bed. "Woe is me~" I sighed dramatically. I gave it a minute before picking up my head see if anyone heard me.
Pitoo was sitting on a beanbag on the other side of the room playing his DS. I
know for a fact he could hear me.
"Ahem- I said, woe is me!"
Dark pit rolled his eyes. "Good for you." he stated, "Now shut up. I'm busy."
He immediately went back to ignoring me, and turned his focus back to his game.
I sighed at his reaction. Why did Pitoo always have to be so... Pitooey? Sometimes I wish I looked into a mirror of cuteness, or something, instead of a mirror of darkness.
Then instead of having Dark Pit, I could have like, Kawaii Pit!
Imagine how cute that would be!
I could give him piggy-back- rides, and play ball with him, just like he was my little brother! And maybe he'd be like a little lady magnet. I mean, Link has Toon Link, and look how popular he is with the ladies.
I shook my head back and forth rapidly to wake myself up from my little daydream.
I walked over next to where Pitoo was sitting and plopped down next to him. "Whatcha doin?"
"I'm playing our game." he said, scooting away.
"Oh!" I brightened up. "What level are you on?" I asked excitedly, looking over his shoulder.
"Level one." he responded, smirking evilly.
"You can't even make it past level one?" I laughed. "Do you need some help?"
"Nope." he grinned at me, narrowing his eyes.
I was super confused- until I realized what he was doing...
He was running me straight into enemies, and watching me die!
"Hey!" I said frustratedly. "You could have easily killed him."
"I know." Dark Pit smiled with satisfaction, "I'm trying to see what the most painful and embarrassing ways to kill you are."
"That is so rude." I said, crossing my arms. "In fact, I'm gonna go tell Lady Palutena."
"Fine. Do it then. Go tell mama Pauly. What do I care?" Dark Pit muttered, still very focused on his game.
"Lady Palutena!!!" I called, walking out of my room, and down the hall. "Lady Paletena?" I knocked on her door.
"Come in Pit." I heard her sigh from the other side. I twisted the door handle and walked in, running over to where she was sitting at her desk. "Lady Palutena, Pitoo is playing our game and purposely trying to kill me."
I complained.
"Pit, stop whining please." she said, rubbing her temples.
"B-but! Lady Palutena!"
"Pit, I don't have the time or the energy to make Dark Pit stop. You're just going to have to ignore him for the time being." Palutena waved her hand at me dismissively.
"That's not fair." I pouted, walking out of her room, and closing the door behind me. I need someone to vent to...
And I know just the person!
Your POV:
You were just in your room straightening up and listening to music when there was a loud knock on your door.
You walked over towards your radio and turned the music down, before answering the door. "Hello?" you asked, swinging it open. There stood Pit, flashing you his signature goofy grin.
"Hey (Y/n)! Ya got a minute?"
You two had just recently become friends, and you had developed a small- *ahem* small, crush on him.
"Yeah, what's up?" You smiled back at him, pulling your door open a bit more and motioning for him to come in. You sat on the couch and crossed your legs casually, trying to hide the fact that the butterflies in your stomach had decided to all meet up and throw a friggin party down there.
"Awesome! Because Pitoo is driving me insane!" Pit started, walking into your room and flopping over on your bed face first. "He's such a jerk." he muttered, his voice muffled.
Ahhhh. So that's what he came for. He needed to rant.
Honestly though, you didn't care in the least. Even when he was ranting, you still enjoyed his company.
"So you wanna know what he did? He was playing our game, and he kept making me die on purpose." Pit huffed, puffing his cheeks out.
"Wow. How rude." you said absentmindedly, twirling your hair around your finger, blushing at Pit's pure and unfiltered cuteness.
"I know, right?!? That's what I said! But Lady Palutena was too busy to help. I can't get any revenge." he sighed, rolling over onto his back, and staring at the ceiling.
"Well maybe I could-" you started, but Pit cut you off.
"Dark Pit is such a butt. Like, the biggest. And also, Hades is a butt too. You know what else frustrates me? There are too many potholes on the roads these days! And do you know what's even worse?! Every year on the anniversary of its arrival, the Mars Rover sings happy birthday to itself, millions of miles away from anyone! That's so sad! You think it couldn't get any worse, but it does- it does!! Fruit loops- all the same flavor! All of them! It doesn't matter what color they are! Also, everything we do is temporary and ephemeral, and therefore any emotional investment into anything will eventually fade out into nothingness regardless of how long it's imagined importance is maintained by our thoughts and beliefs!"
Pit took a deep breath, now completely out of breath. "You know what else is sad? I can't read. I couldn't even find any of this stuff out for myself; other people had to read the articles and tell me about them. SO I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF THEY'RE TRUE!!!!"
He took another deep breath, attempting to calm himself down.
You tilted your head in total confusion at the sudden topic changes.
"Umm. Wow. That is sad." you said nodding, unsure of what else to say.
You both sat there in silence for a moment before you hit an idea.
"Hey-I could teach to how to read!" you said excitedly. "I mean, it can't be that hard! Then you can brag about it to Pitoo. Imagine how jealous he'd be." you finished. "If you can't read, then he shouldn't be able to either! And you can finally find out if those articles are true."
"R-really? You can teach me how to read? Oh my gosh!! Pitoo will be sooo jealous!" Pit jumped up from your bed pumping his fist in the air.
You laughed at his enthusiasm. "Okay! Let's go to the library as find some easy readers."
You grabbed his hand, a light pink dusting your cheeks, and pulled him to the library in the mansion.
"Whoa!!! There are SO many books in here!" Pit said, his eyes widening in awe. "Haven't you ever been in a library?" you asked him.
"No, actually. Lady Palutena always told me they were a place for quiet shy people to get away from people like me."
You bit your lip, trying to hold back a giggle. "Oh, well that's not true." you smiled at him, "But we do need to whisper in here." you added.
"Why?" Pit asked you. "It's not like the books care." Pit said, glancing around at the shelves.
"Well, you're right. The books certainly don't care. But we don't want to disturb other people in here that might be trying to read." you explained.
"Ohhhhh. Okay." Pit whispered, pretending to zip his lips.
You grabbed a couple of easy reader books off the shelf and brought them to the front desk to check them out.
After that, you brought them back to your room with you, and laid them out on the bed. "Which one do you wanna read first?" You asked, looking at the assortment you had checked out.
"The dinosaur one." Pit nodded solemnly, his eyes glittering with determination.
"Okay. Let's do this!" you said, letting Pit hold the book while you sat next to him, pointing at the words he was reading. He struggled with everything at first, but he was starting to get the hang of it. You didn't mind helping him at all though. He was super adorable.
You found it especially adorable when he struggled on words, and then asked for your help sounding them out.
After four hours, three snacks, two breaks, and a whole lot of confusion, Pit could finally read two of the books you checked out for him: "Bob Goes Boop!" and "Dinosaur Days".
"Wow. I feel so smart!" Pit laughed.
You smiled, handing him the small stack of books. "Take these ones with you to practice."
"But wait- I still don't know how to read everything yet!" Pit stated. "I think I'll have to come over here every day until I learn. That is- if you'll keep teaching me?" Pit smiled, a small blush appearing on his face.
"Y-yeah." you grinned back, blushing like crazy. His smile always melted your heart. "Now get out of here." you joked waving your hand, "I believe you have someone to brag too?"
"Oh, right!" Pit snapped his fingers.
He spun around to leave.
"Wait, one more thing-" he spun back around and gave you a hug.
Your face flushed a deep crimson.
"Thank you (Y/n)." Pit said sweetly, before walking out into the hall.
"See you tomorrow!" he called over his shoulder.
"Y-yeah." You smiled. "I'll see you then."
Okey-dokey! That's all folks.
