Link x Tsundere reader: "Just try it!"

Hey! I'm back again! This time we have a Link x Tsundere Reader
This story was requested by MoonsDepression💜
So without further ado, I present to you: "Just try it!"

You sighed, looking longingly out the window as the Smashers outside enjoyed the beautiful weather.
It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the birds were singing in the trees, and of course you had to be cooped up inside due to a stupid little thing called "kitchen duty".

Master Hand had two main cooks for the Mansion:
Kirby, and Link. (After everyone had discovered the hero's newfound culinary skills.)
Kirby and Link took turns every other week preparing meals for the smashers, since they both enjoyed cooking so much. But since it was quite a large job, Master Hand also decided to assign sous-chefs to assist the cooks every week.
"Everyone gets a chance to pitch in and help out!" was how Master Hand had put it.
And of course it was your week to "pitch in" and "help out". You didn't even get to help Kirby, the cute little pink one. You had to help Link...

That basically meant you sat in the kitchen and supervised him to make sure he didn't accidentally make something so visibly disgusting that life itself censored reality to block it from your sight.
(Laugh all you want, but it's happened. The Smashers dubbed those meals "Dubious Food".)

You frowned, glancing out the window one last time, before walking to the kitchen doors and pushing them open.
You grabbed an apron from the hooks next to the door, and pulled it on over your head.

"Hello?" You called, running your hand along the shiny silver counters and looking at the assortment of spices and seasonings that where lined up on the shelves.

"Oh hey (Y/n)!" Link called from the pantry. He came out carrying a stack of random foods, including some bananas, a steak, a giant mushroom, a fish, a honeycomb, some carrots, a whole chicken, and a hearty looking blue snail.

You groaned and face palmed. You had no idea how he made anything edible out of the stuff he used.
"What exactly are you planning on making?" You asked, trying to sound disinterested. "Sushi." He replied.

"Sushi?" You asked "With bananas?"

Link busied himself chopping up the carrots. "Yep. Don't question it. I'm a master chef. If you must know, I plan to purée the bananas and mix them with the honey so I can use them as a drizzled-on topping, as well as a sort of sauce. Not only will they provide a surprising element of sweetness, they should also be aesthetically pleasing, especially if I smear some of the sauce on the side of the plate."
You groaned. Who the heck takes bananas that seriously? Did the guy own a freaking banana farm or something?

"Oh great! Now there's going to be honey on top." You muttered. "Raw fish with honey on it. Mmmmm. Delicious." Link rolled his eyes; those were the complaints of a novice. You obviously had no idea what you were talking about.

"And, and! Your hands will get all sticky! Here, you want sticky hands? Have a sushi!" You continued your miniature rant.

"Well, what if I put it inside the sushi rolls, so your hands don't get sticky? Link asked, pulling out a cutting board. "And I don't think you call a singular piece of sushi, 'a sushi.'"

"Well what do you call it then Mr. smarty pants?" You retorted.
"I, uhh, don't actually know..." Link puzzled, shrugging. "But it doesn't really matter right? Could you grab me some seaweed wraps?"

"Whatever." You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose and marching over to the pantry. Link could be so annoying sometimes... so it killed you that you couldn't help falling for him.

"You know you don't have to pretend to be all grumpy around me." Link smiled, elbowing you playfully and taking the seaweed from your hands. "I know that you don't really hate me."

Your face flushed and you put your hands on your hips. "And what exactly are you suggesting?" You challenged him. "That I-what, like you? In your dreams! Psshhh... You're just lucky I decide to tolerate you!"

Link laughed. "That's what I just said though! You don't have to like me! I just know you don't hate me!"

"And just how would you know that?" You demanded, leaning towards him and glaring daggers, hands still on your hips. "Well, I would just assume that you don't, since I'm a pretty nice guy."
He answered mimicking your actions.

"Well, maybe you're wrong." You huffed, puffing out your cheeks.
"And maybe I'm right." Link smirked, leaning in a little bit more.

"W-well." You stuttered, his face inches away from yours.
"You're wrong." You pulled away and crossed your arms over your chest, looking away to hide the faint blush dusting your cheeks.
"Whatever you say princess."
Link smirked, turning his attention back to the food.

"D-don't call me that." You stamped your foot, causing Link to chuckle.
"Alrighty sweetheart."

"S-stop it!" You shouted at him, waving your arms in the air, your face as red as a tomato.
"J-just s-shut up!" You put your hands back on your hips.

"Okay, okay. I'm done." Link held up his hands defensively, before tossing all the food he had gathered into a pot on the stove.

"I thought you were making sushi." You pointed out skeptically, changing the subject.
"I am." Link replied casually.
"You don't cook sushi idiot. It's raw remember?"

"Silly, silly (Y/n). Trust me- I know what I'm doing."
Link rolled his eyes, stirring the contents of the pot together.

You walked back over and sat on the counter. "I'm sure you do." You said sarcastically.
Link frowned at you. "Are you really this grumpy?"
"W-wha? I'm not grumpy." You stated.

"Could've fooled me. You look pretty grumpy." Link put down his wooden spoon and set a lid on top of the pot. He eased himself onto the counter, sitting next to you.
"We need to change that. Won't you smile for me? Just once?"
Link asked you, tilting his head to the side. "I bet a smile would look really cute on you."

"E-ew no!" You shook your head. "My smiles are for people who deserve them only. Sorry." You stuck your nose in the air sassily.

"Well I'm about to deserve one then." Link grinned mischievously, jumping off the counter and turning towards you.
He proceeded to push his hands to your sides and began tickling you.

"S-stop it!" You begged between giggles. "S-seriously!" You laughed, trying to push him away.
Link laughed along with you, refusing to stop his tickle-torture. "Nope." He grinned. "Not until you admit you don't hate me."

"I-I don't h-hate you!" You laughed, pushing his hands away.
"Now don't you ever even think of doing that again." You warned, a light pink dusting your cheeks.
"Can't make any promises princess.
I knew you were fun. Even if you pretend not to be."
Link grinned, turning back to the pot on the stove and taking off the lid.

He pulled out a plate of sushi from the pot. Yes, he pulled a whole plate of sushi straight out of the pot.

"U-umm." You looked from Link to the pot and back again. "H-how did you?!?!"
Your mouth hung open in amazement.

"I told you (Y/n), I'm an amazing chef. That is why I am the head chef, and you are my sous chef." He smiled proudly, taking a roll off the plate and popping into his mouth.

"Witchcraft..." You mumbled, backing away from him.
"I can't un-see that."

"Do you want to try one?" Link asked, holding one out to you.
"They're really good."
"I'll pass." You wrinkled your nose.
"Oh come on! Just try one!"
Link pleaded. "How am I supposed to woo you with my amazing cooking if you won't even try it?" He joked.

Wait he wanted to woo you? Did that mean he liked you?
"F-fine. But you won't be doing any wooing." You huffed, popping the sushi roll into your mouth.

You chewed and swallowed, purposely taking as long as possible to finish it.
"Eh. It was okay." You offered.
"Just okay?"
Link asked expectantly.
"O-okay, fine! It was really good- okay? You were right. It was really great.
Are you happy now?" You asked, taking another one off the plate and devouring it.

"Indubitably." Link smiled, setting the plate down.

"B-but don't get cocky! I could make something better any day." You stuck your tongue out at him.
"Could ya now?" Link challenged, leaning across the counter, his chin resting on his hands.

"Yup. Something way better." You nodded, mimicking his actions and smirking.
"Better than this?" he asked, leaning in and placing a quick kiss on your lips.

Your face flushed deep scarlet and you jumped away from the counter.
"WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT!" You yelled, waving your arms frantically in the air.

"They call it, a 'kiss'." Link replied calmly, chuckling as he watched you throw your mini-tantrum.
"And I think you secretly enjoyed it."

"D-did not!" You countered immediately, stamping your foot and crossing your arms over your chest. "In fact, I'm leaving!" You shouted over your shoulder, turning to walk away.

"Alrighty then. Thanks for the help princess! I'll see you tomorrow!" Link called, waving at you.

"T-tomorrow?" You asked, spinning back around in confusion.
"Yeah. Sous-chef duty lasts for a week at a time, remember? This was just your first day." Link smirked.
"And tomorrow I'm wearing a 'Kiss the cook' apron, so come prepared." He winked at you playfully.

"Baka." you muttered, turning and marching away...
You couldn't wait for tomorrow.
