It was a busy day at the smash mansion, and everyone was bustling around making preparations for the new DLC characters that would be arriving shortly. You were waiting at the entrance of the mansion with the Fire Emblem gang, trying your best to contain your excitement. There was one character you had always wanted to meet, and that was Joker from Persona 5. You had played his game, and it was super fun, but you'd never thought you'd get to meet him in person. Until smash announced he was coming as a DLC character!

"So," you asked the others, "Are you guys excited to meet Joker?
I personally, can't wait to meet him! I'm a huge fan of his." you giggled, pushing a loose strand of your (h/c) hair behind your ear and trying to calm your fangirling nerves. Of course you didn't mention how big of a crush you'd had on him during the playthrough of the game. (Because that's not important 😝)

"Hmm? Oh Joker! Yeah." Ike's eyes lit up. "I can't wait to meet him either." Roy and Marth nodded in agreement.

You all sat in comfortable silence for a moment, before Lucina broke it.

"Why do you think they invited Joker to Smash, and not Batman?" Lucina inquired, "That's not very nice of Nintendo."

You laughed and shrugged your shoulders jokingly. Lucina wasn't usually good at making jokes, but she was getting better.

"That's actually a good point." Robin pondered, tapping his finger on his chin.
"You'd think if they were inviting Joker, Batman would be invited too. That only seems fair."

Everyone nodded in agreement as you looked around in bewilderment. "Wait, you guys are kidding right?" you asked, putting your hands on your hips.

"Umm no. Why would we be kidding?" Roy asked you. "We're all waiting here to meet Joker... Like, from D.C.? You know, the clown guy? He runs around robbing banks and fighting Batman and Robin. And he has that clown girlfriend. What's her name- Hannah?"

"Harley Quinn." Marth interjected.

"Yeah, Harley." Roy nodded enthusiastically. "Why did you think we were waiting here (Y/n)?" Roy grinned at you goofily.

"W-what? No no no no no...." you stuttered, waving your hands frantically. "Look, sorry to disappoint you all, but Joker- " you were cut off by the loud bang of the huge doors you were waiting next to opening.

Your voice got drowned out from the loud cheers filling the room, as everyone pushed their way forward to try to get a glance at the new smashers.
You gave up on trying to explain after realizing that no one could hear you, and watched as Piranha Plant hopped out, followed by Joker, Hero, and Banjo Kazooie. You lost sight of them for a couple minutes, but once the crowds died down, you saw Joker standing over by the entryway.
"There he is!" you said pointing him out to your friends, and jumping up and down with excitement.

"Where?" Marth inquired, narrowing his eyes and scanning the new smashers.

"I don't see him." Robin added.

You sighed and face palmed. Oh boy. "Guys Joker is-" 
Marth cut you off as he pointed behind you and asked, "Who's he?"
You spun back around to see that Joker was walking over towards your group.
"I dunno." Roy shrugged.
"Maybe he's Banjo Kazooie."

"But he doesn't have a banjo." Lucina pointed out.

"Really guys?" you rolled your eyes.
That's when someone tapped you one the shoulder. You looked up from your face palm only to be greeted by Joker. You froze.

"Hello." he smiled charmingly.
"I'm Joker- and you guys are?"

Everyone just stared at him for a minute in awkward silence.
Roy quirked his eyebrows and Lucina titled her head in confusion.

You decided to take initiative.

"Hi I'm (Y/n)." you said, trying not to blush, "This is Marth, Roy, Ike, Robin, and Lucina." you said, pointing to each one as you introduced them.
"Lovely to meet you all." Joker smiled.

That's when Roy piped up. "So you're... Joker?" he asked skeptically, pacing around him in a circle. "Are you in some sort of disguise? You certainly don't look like a clown to me."
he stated, while poking him.

Joker took a step back, clearly a little uncomfortable. "Umm thanks?"

"Have you ever robbed a bank?"
Ike asked.

"What? No."

"Do you fight Batman?"
Marth inquired.

"Batman? What? No."

"Do you have a clown girlfriend named Harley?" Lucina finished, tapping her foot and frowning.

"Umm. No..."
Joker's voice trailed off.

"Guys! Give him some space. Also, He's from the game Persona 5! He's not a D.C. character." you huffed puffing you're cheeks out frustratedly.

Joker turned his head and smiled at you, causing butterflies to fly around in your stomach.
"So you've heard of my game?" he asked you curiously.

"Yeah! I love it." you grinned.

"Cool. Very cool." Joker nodded, his eyes sparkling from beneath his black mask. "Your name is very pretty, by the way." he added.

You could feel your face heating up, so you quickly spun on your heel to look at your friends.

"I thought we were getting the Joker from D.C." Marth said disappointedly.
"I don't believe I've ever heard of Persona 5."

"Well I'm sorry to disappoint you." Joker replied frowning.

They stared each other down for a minute before you jumped in between them.

"I'm not disappointed." you said, making jazz hands to try to cut the tension.

"Guys, think of it this way. Just because Robin here is named Robin, doesn't mean he's Batman's sidekick." you pointed out, trying to be helpful.

"I don't get your point."  Robin stated

You sighed, not sure of what else to say. You all stood there awkwardly for another minute, before you broke the silence.
"I know! Let me show you around the mansion Joker." you walked ahead and motioned with your hand that he should follow.

"Great idea (Y/n)! It was nice meeting you all." he nodded towards the Emblemiers, before jogging a bit to catch up with you.

You showed him everything in the
Smash Mansion you thought would be important for him to know about.
It took almost all day, but you didn't even notice the time pass. He was so easy to talk to, and he made you laugh easier then anyone else you knew could. You would occasionally go on a fangirl rant about his game, and he would just chuckle. You had no idea how cute he thought your fangirling was.

You finally got to showing him the room he'd be staying in.
"Thanks for the tour (Y/n)." he said, opening the door with the keys he had been given at the front desk.

"No problemo!" you beamed, grinning ear to ear. "My room number is #413 and here's my phone number..." you said, holding a napkin up against the wall and scribbling it down before handing it to him.
"Don't hesitate to call if you need anything." you smiled.

"I won't." he winked at you, before pulling his door shut behind him.

'Ahhhh he's SOOO cute!'
You thought, heading to your room.

~The next morning~

You were still in bed when your phone started ringing on your nightstand.
You pushed yourself up groggily, and tried to reach it for it. Your arm was too short, and you sighed in despair, realizing the awful truth: you'd have to get out of bed to reach it. You sighed, looking back down at your pillow, before swinging your legs out of bed and stretching out your arm to grab it.

"Hello?"
you said mundanely.

"Good morning (Y/n). It's me."
a voice said on the other line.

You sighed in annoyance.
"I don't know who "me" is."

"Oh! Right...It's Joker."

You were wide awake now.

"I was just wondering if you wanted to meet up for coffee this morning before the tournaments start up." he said.

"Uhhh, yeah. I'll meet you down in the lobby in like, fifteen minutes." you grinned excitedly.

"Okay. Don't keep me waiting."

So you hung up, showered, brushed your teeth, did your hair, and put on your favorite outfit before rushing downstairs.

"Hey (Y/n)." Joker waved.
"Hey." you waved back brightly.
"You look nice." he smiled.
"O-oh. Thanks." you smiled back at him, blushing.

He held the door open for you, as you walked out, bracing yourself in the crisp morning air.
You made small talk while walking to the little caffe that was next to the Smash mansion. You ordered your drinks, along with a plate of cinnamon roles for the two of you to share.
"Oh my gosh!" Joker said, pointing at a nearby booth. "That's my personal trainer, Mr. Leo." He said. I'll be right back, I'm going to go say hi."
(Ahem, MKLeo. *Cough, cough*)
"Okay." you smiled, picking a booth and sliding into it.

"I'm back." Joker slid in across from you. You smiled up at him before grabbing a cinnamon role, and devouring it.

"Soooo." You started absentmindedly, stirring your coffee around with a spoon.

"Are we like- on a date?"

Joker choked on his hot drink for a minute, before regaining his composure.
"Doesn't it seem foolish to go on a date with someone you literally just met? It's foolish to think that there is such a thing as 'love at first sight' don't you think?"

"Yeah, I guess." you nodded.
"So does that make us fools?" you asked, looking up into his beautiful eyes.

Joker chuckled, smiling warmly at you.
"I suppose it does."
