Ike x reader "Fair"

Hello everyone! I'ma back! This is an Ike x reader requested by
Royal_-_Fighter 💜
Okie-dokie, I hope you enjoy!~

Ike loved his friends, but if one more person came into his room to brag about how they got a date for the Smash bros. ball, (see what I did there?!) He was gonna lose it.

Marth, Roy, and Robin all apparently decided that Ike's room was the perfect spot to talk all about their dates.

Ike knew it wasn't their fault- they were excited, he would be too. He was just upset with himself...
He hadn't had the courage to ask you to the dance, and now he knew it was too late. What kind of loser asks you to a dance; the day of? "Certainly not me" Ike thought. Someone else had to have asked you already. He knew there was no way someone like you didn't have a date.

"I'm so glad that Master Hand is allowing Caeda to come to the smash mansion for the dance." Marth said, excited to see his significant other in person after so much time away.

"Same for me with Lilina." Roy added, closing his eyes. "I can already see her smile..."

"I'm so relieved that Lucina said she'd come with me to the dance." Robin sighed, flopping over Ike's bed.

"Yeah... That's great guys." Ike said, biting his lip.

Marth glanced over at Robin, a puzzled look on his face. "Weren't you and Lucina already a couple?" he asked.

Roy facepalmed. "An 'item', Marth, not a 'couple'. Get with the times old man..."

Marth glared at him but refrained from dirtying his royal hands by smacking his impudent friend.

Robin laughed, sitting up on Ike's bed. "Yeah Marth, we are." he replied "But I had to announce my date that way so I could lead up to a different topic." he explained, wiggling his eyebrows.

Marth and Roy looked at each other and shrugged. Robin had declared himself a "Master Shipper", and even though neither of them knew what the heck that meant, they had learned to just go with it. Even if it meant dealing with his weird little quirks sometimes.

"Sooooo. Ike. We all have dates... What about you? Anyone catch your fancy?" Robin asked, digging his friend in the ribs.

Marth and Roy grinned evilly at each other. They finally realized where Robin was going with this.

"Yeah Ike, who do you fancy?"
Roy asked smugly.

Ike sighed. He knew this question was coming. So he did what any sensible person would do when they were asked about this topic by a self-proclaimed "Shipping Lord" and his nosy best friend.

"No." he replied, a little too quickly, his face heating up. "AHA! I KNEW IT! HE DOES HAVE THE HOTS FOR SOMEONE!" Robin declared triumphantly, jumping to his feet. Marth and Roy shook their heads. Robin could get a little dramatic when it came to his "ships", whatever those were.

"Alright Ike, just tell us about her!"

"No." Ike said yet again, crossing his arms.

"If you don't tell me who it is, then I can't help you woo her." Robin said disappointedly, sitting back on Ike's bed.

"Listen, there will be no 'wooing', okay? Because I don't like anyone."

"Suuuuuuure you don't." Roy rolled his eyes.
That's when Chrom burst in.

"Guys!" He said, panting, his hands on his knees, "Reflet (Female Robin) just said she'd go with me to the dance!"

"Wow that's great Chrom." Robin rolled his eyes. "But you realize she's your wife, right? She basically has to go with you."

"Well it's still exciting." Chrom stated.

"Yeah...." Ike's voice trailed off.

"Listen guys, I'm so glad all of you have someone to go to the dance with..." he sighed before continuing, "But couldn't you go somewhere else to talk about it?"

"Sure." Roy shrugged. "I don't care."

"Yes, I suppose so." Marth said, dusting himself off and turning to leave.

"But wait, Ike, I can help you! It's times like these that Master Shippers are needed the most." Robin pleaded, making one last attempt to help Ike.

"It's fine." Ike smiled at Robin. "But thanks anyway."

"At least come?" Robin pleaded with his friend.

"We'll see, okay?" and with that, Ike closed the door on him.

He walked back over to his bed and flopped down. I guess I could at least go...

Meanwhile, you'd  been waiting all month for this dance, hoping against hope Ike would ask you to it. You bought a dress, watched like, eighty YouTube videos about how to do your hair, and barely ever stopped talking about it.

But now that the dance was here, you realized there was no way Ike was asking you. You sighed in defeat as your best friends tried to cheer you up.
"Come on (Y/n) you don't need a date to go." Zelda said, smoothing out her dress. "Easy for you to say. Link asked you as soon as the posters went up for it." You grumbled.

"Maybe you'll find someone else there who-er...doesn't have a date." Lucina said, trying to sound convincing.

"It's okay guys, you don't have to try to cheer me up." You sighed defeatedly.

That's when Palutena spoke up.
"(Y/n), there is no way I'm letting you mope around your room while we're all partying." She said sassily.

"You look gorgeous in that dress, and you need to go show it off."

You smiled at her. She could be a little bossy and sassy, but that's probably due to being a goddess. Goddesses are probably used to having things their way.

You glanced at Zelda, who gave you a sympathetic smile, then at Lucina who sighed and shrugged, then finally at
Palutena who had her hands on her hips.

"Alright, alright. I'll go." You smiled confidently at your friends. "But I swear if Ike is there dancing with a different girl- I'm leaving." You puffed out your cheeks.

"Deal." Palutena said smugly. "Alright ladies, let's get this show on the road!"

~time skip to the dance~

The huge hall in the Smash mansion was completely filled with people. The dim lights and loud music made it seem less like a ball, and more like a huge party.

Roy and Lilina were tearing it up on the dance floor, while Marth and Cadea sat with Robin and Lucina at a table near the snack bar.

You squeezed your way through the crowded room until you made it over to their table.

"Hey guys!" You said, shouting to be heard over the loud music, while sitting down in an empty seat.
"Oh, hello." Marth waved at you.
"Have you seen Ike?" You asked, again shouting to be heard.

"And why do you want to know?"
Robin asked elbowing you, until Lucina kicked him under the table. "Ow..."

"I'm just curious that's all." You stated simply.
Robin frowned at your lack of enthusiasm. "He's over there." He said pointing to the drink station.
You saw Ike getting himself some punch. He looked rather disheartened. You decided you would at least say "hi". There's no harm in that.

"Awesome! I'll see you guys." You said, walking over towards Ike.
"Go get'em!" Robin called after you, before Lucina kicked him again. "Ow..."

"Hey!" You said, tapping him on the shoulder. He spun around to see who had tapped him, jut to come face to face with you.

"Uhhhh." He blushed.
"You look... Beautiful." He finished, stumbling a bit over his words.

You bit your lip to try to control the fangirl squeal that you wanted to let out.
"Oh, thanks. You don't look too bad yourself." You said nonchalantly, trying to play off the fact that your face was heating up.

"So...uh." Ike mentally hit himself.

I wasn't able to ask her to the dance because I was such a chicken. The least I can do is see if she'd like to dance now that we're here...

"So, hey do you... uh, have a date?" He asked you, nervously taking a sip of his punch.

"No." You said, a pained expression crossing your features. You didn't need any reminder that he didn't ask you.

"O-oh." Ike said looking at his feet.
Well it's now or never. You let her get away once, how long do you think it'll be before she finds someone that's not you.

"You probably have a date, huh?" You smiled up at him sadly.

Ike looked right into you're shiny (e/c) orbs. He saw sadness behind them, and couldn't  help but feel like it was his fault. And, let's be real. It was his fault. The big jerk... *Ahem*...

"No, I don't...actually." He said, taking a deep breath.
Then all of a sudden, he grabbed your hands.

"(Y/n), I was going to ask you to the dance, but I'm kind of an idiot... And I chickened out. You are the sweetest, most caring person, I know. Every time I'm around you I feel like... I don't know..." Ike paused for a moment, trying to find the right words, "I feel like I can do anything. You make me feel like I'm not alone...." Ike blurted out before he could change his mind.

You gasped at the sudden confession. Was this really happening? "I-Ike. I don't know what to say..." You whispered, putting your hand on his chest. He put his finger over your mouth to shush you, and continued.

"I'm sorry I didn't ask you earlier, and I know it's not the same now, but... Would you be my date?" he asked, closing his eyes and bracing himself for your response.

"Yes." You smiled at him sweetly.
"But you have a lot of dancing to do
to make this all up to me." You grinned at him mischievously, leading him onto the dance floor.

"I suppose that's only fair."
